I'm only a fan of slash in rare instances when it's done very well, and this is definitely one of them.
The writing is good, really really good. The dynamic between the two of them, and that whole thing about him seeing the little girl...powerful.
I loved the line about him imagining "the defiant gleam that would be in those eyes".
And what do you mean, you'll have an actual plot soon? lol. There already is a plot, and it's great!

Great update. Sorry it took me so long to review. This is just so ... I can't wait to see where it goes. It's so different that you can't see the next turn at all and it's fantastic.
My favorite parts are when Mike stares at the sun and when He comes into the room and Billie just knows.
