Unlikely Relationship

An Unlikely Relationship
Hey! I wrote this story about 3-4 years ago on soupfiction.net. It doesn’t exist anymore so I decided to re-write it and give it another shot. Dream Street is together in this fic! I got a lot of reviews for it and lots of people seemed to enjoy it, so here ya go!
Chapter 1- I’m Always Here
15 year old Amanda Raposo was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling, her walkman blasting “That’s What Girls Do” by No Secrets into her ears. She heard the faint sound of someone knocking her door. She groaned, pulled her headphones off, and got off the bed, pulling her door open hard. Leaning against her door frame was her 18 year old brother Greg.
“Can I help you?” she asked annoyed.
“I’m taking Nicole and Daniella out for pizza. Do you want to come?” he asked.
“No. I don’t want to come. Now how about you leave me alone?”
“What’s the matter with you? Ever since I got home from tour you’ve been in a really bad mood, and you’ve mostly been taking it out on me. Is everything OK?”
“Everything is just peachy! Now can you go? Thanks.” She said and slammed the door in his face. Greg stood out in the hallway dumbfounded. What had happened to his little sister? He knew he hadn’t seen her in awhile and it always hit her really hard whenever he would leave, but she was never mad at him when he came back. He sighed and went downstairs.
“Is Amanda coming?” Nicole asked. Greg shook his head.
“Why not?” Daniella asked.
“I don’t know Dannie. She’s just in a bad mood I guess.” The three of them walked out of the house and Greg took them to get pizza. Amanda was sitting on her bed, tears welling up in her hazel eyes. She was so mad at Greg because he barely kept in touch with her when he was away, and then came home and acted like everything was fine. He didn’t even know that he hurt her. She remembered how close they used to be and it really upset her that they were drifting apart. The doorbell rang and Amanda tried her best to pull herself together. She went downstairs and opened the front door to see Greg’s bandmate, 18 year old Frankie Galasso standing there.
“Hey Amanda. Long time no see. Greg home?”
“Um no. He took Nicole and Daniella out for pizza, but you can come in and wait for him if you want,” she replied.
“Sure,” he said as he followed her into the living room where they sat down. “So why didn’t you go with them?” he asked.
“Because Greg is an asshole and he doesn’t even know it,” she replied, holding back the tears that were coming back again.
“That’s a little harsh. Why is he an asshole?”
“He barely keeps in touch with me while he’s away on tour and then he comes home and acts like nothing happened. We used to be close as ever Frankie, and now we’re just so different and he gets on my nerves all the time,” she cried, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“Don’t cry Amanda. Come here,” he said as he patted the cushion next to his. She scooted over and he wrapped his arms around her. “You’re right about how Greg should have kept in touch with you while we were gone, but this tour was very hectic. He thought about you, Nicole, and Daniella a lot of the time because he missed the 3 of you very much. He’s your brother, cut him some slack.”
“I feel like he doesn’t even care about me anymore.”
“He does Amanda. More than you know. Just talk to him and tell him how you feel. You know as well as I do that he always knows how to cheer you up.”
“I guess you’re right. I don’t know why I’m acting so silly about this,” she said, drying her eyes.
“You’re not acting silly. I’d be upset too, but he’s also probably upset that you’ve been avoiding him for the past few days.” She nodded and Frankie kissed her forehead. She looked up into his also hazel eyes and he smiled. He didn’t know what came over him next, but he leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips. Amanda was shocked, but kissed him back. Frankie pulled away and shook his head.
“Oh god, I’m so sorry Amanda.”
“For what? I liked it,” she said.
“Yeah, I liked it too. I can’t do this though. You’re my best friend’s sister. It’s wrong.”
“Then why did you kiss me if it was wrong?”
“I don’t know. Something came over me and I just did it. I mean, you’re really beautiful and any guy would be crazy to not wanna kiss you…” he trailed off.
“You think I’m beautiful?”
“No. I think you’re gorgeous.”
“And I’ve had a crush on you for years. Ever since Dream Street started. So what’s the problem?” she asked. Frankie blushed when he heard her confess having a crush on him.
“Greg will kill me, that’s the problem.”
“No he won’t. I really like you Frankie. I’ve known you for so long and I know you well enough to know that you wouldn’t have kissed me unless you really liked me too.”
“I do like you Amanda, it’s just…”
“Just what? You can’t date me because you’re friends with my brother? Who cares about that Frankie. Let him get mad and throw a fit and do whatever else he wants, but you shouldn’t let him manipulate your feelings.”
“We need to talk about this. How about I pick you up tomorrow around 1 and I take you out to lunch?” he suggested.
“It’s a date.”
“Yeah…” he said. Just then, the front door opened and Amanda jumped out of Frankie’s arms and onto another couch. Greg walked into the living room.
“Hey Frank how long have you been here?”
“About 15 minutes. Amanda told me you went out for pizza and she invited me in to wait for you.”
“Cool. Come on, let’s go shoot some hoops.”
“Actually Greg, I need to talk to you,” Amanda said. Greg nodded.
“Be back in a minute Frank,” Greg said as he followed Amanda up the stairs to her room. She shut the door and they sat on her bed.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“Greg I’m really sorry I’ve been so mean to you lately.”
“Why have you been acting that way?” he asked.
“Because while you were on tour, you barely even kept in touch with me and that really hurt! You’re my brother and I love you and I hate how we’ve been drifting apart. I know your tour was hectic and you were really busy, but I felt neglected and that you didn’t even care about me anymore,” she said, crying once again. Greg’s heart broke into a million pieces when he saw the tears fall down her face. He gathered her into his arms and held her close.
“Amanda, I’m so sorry. I had no idea how upset you were. I know I should have called a lot more while I was gone and that’s my fault. I never meant to hurt you. You know how much I love you. I’m always here Amanda, whenever you need me. Even if I’m not home, you know my cell phone number, don’t hesitate to call.” Amanda could only nod because of the sobs that were racking through her body.
“Frank’s w-wai-ting” she choked out. Greg shook his head.
“I’m not going anywhere till you calm down,” he said while holding her tighter. She wrapped her arms around his neck and let out all of her tears onto his shirt. Her cries soon reduced to soft whimpers and sniffles and she pulled away from him. Greg wiped the tear stains off of her cheeks and kissed her forehead.
“All better?” he asked. She nodded.
“Go. Frank’s still waiting,” she said.
“You sure you’re OK?” he asked.
“Yeah I’m fine.” He smiled and went back downstairs where Frank was still waiting. They went downstairs and played a few games of basketball.
