Ang Hamog Sa Mahimbing Na Umaga
[Prologue - Ang Katapusan Ng Simula]
The blood flows just as freely as the rain pours over the district. Amidst the dancing neon lights and sashaying fashionistas, Niikura Kaoru makes his way through the thinning Ginza crowd. Clad in his wet, dark ensemble, nobodynotices the dark red liquid that slowlt oozes through the woven threads. Every step he took was a huge burden--the pain streaks through his body, making his mind weak and his knees even weaker. He left bloody hand prints along the way. The breadcrumbs that spellout his death sentence. The only thing stronger than the pain was the thought of another person's body, lying cold and unmoving at the side of the city. The lifeless shell was the only other witness to the bloody crossfire. The black scythe made its first judgment when the last of their bullets exited the barrels.
Hakuei fell and the last glimmer of life flickered dead. Though its owner has passed, the fangs of his hatred still bore into Kaoru's flesh, threatening to break through his soul. It gnaws Kaoru's life away--slowly but surely. The lifeline that Kaoru is holding onto is fragile. A pull. A sharp jerk. The smallest actions could cut it in half and send it lashing back at him. The other end connects him with the person he swore his life to. As he inches his way along the line, he can't help but wonder if it was all worth it.
He is to meet Toshimasa at the alley behind the old grocery store. He can feel the icy breath of the dark hooded entity, it's so close. Too close. Too intent to take what it claimed as its property. Giving up was not option, he has gone this far anyway, might as well win the very last race he will ever participate in. The onslaught of human traffic was a big pain but he continues to endure it all. Curious eyes look at him from head to toe--he doesn't even give a second thought about it.
A sharp hiss escapes from his lips as nother round of needles pound into the wound, opening and cutting the sensitive veins. For second, Kaoru thought that he would just drop dead right there and then--a pathetic sight that mars the beauty of the designer boutique right behind it.
He catches himself on time.
He made a promise and he is determined to keep it.
After what seemed like a decade's worth of recurring death marches, he finally rounds the corner into a dark alley way. It stank of piss, rotting garbagem and other nauseating smells whose origin he dare not think of. he called out the name he once mouthed in love, pleasure, and ecstasy. A silhoutte emerged from the stoic shadows and it started moving towards him. As Toshimasa's person neared him, Kaoru saw his face contort in fear and concern. The doubts he earlier had faded into nothingness.
Toshimasa stops only mere inches away from Kaoru--they could feel eacg others heartbeats and feel each others emotions. Kaoru raised his bloody hand and caressed the other's face. Relishing in the softness and the memories the small action generated. A sudden push, as gentle as an angel's kiss, sent Kaoru collapsing into Toshimasa. His weight pulling them both down to the pavement. He is slowly slipping away from consciousness, only his sheer determination to see his lover was keeping his eyes open. He feels Toshimasa's hands shaking him desperately back to life. His frantic whispers, an inaudible song.
At that moment, everything in Kaoru's world was at peace. It was a no fairytale ending but it is perfect in its own right. He finally proves that Hakuei was wrong in so many ways--his opinion faulty and distorted. Love and loyalty do go together.
It was only a matter of leading your heart into the right direction.
A last kiss.
And goodbye.
