Broken Hearts and Torn Up Letters

"David, I'm sorry I can't give up on my dream of making it big in Hollywood. I love you and I always will. S x"

David sighed and tore up the piece of paper in his hand, trying hard to fight back tears, as if he didn't have enough to worry about what with his most recent script for the Doctor Who christmas special "Voyage of the Damned" due through any day, his mother was battling cancer and now his girlfriend Sophia had chosen to move to America to pursue a career in film and a future that didn't involve him.

Before he could brood any further there was a knock on his trailer door followed by "Hiya tall dark and handsome, ten minutes before we get back to filming."

David turned round and smirked as John Barrowman entered the trailer, clothed in an unusually scruffy version of his Captain Jack Harkness costume.

"You okay mate, you don't seem your normal cheery self? Do I have to come over there and kiss you?"

David gave John a sad smile and shook his head, normally he'd have burst out laughing at John's flirtatious nature and the fact that John was gay and happily married to his civil partner Scott.

"Sorry mate, not particularly in the mood...Sophia's just dumped me."

John's cheery smile dropped from his handsome face like a lead weight.

"Oh David I'm sorry pal," He paused, sitting next to his friend and putting a comforting arm round his fellow actors shoulder. "Did she say why?"

David roughly rubbed his eyes trying to hide the tears that threatend to escape. "I just can't believe it, all this time I thought..."

John smiled sympathetically and pulled his friend into a hug. "Do you want me to tell them you need a few minutes?"

David pulled away and took a deep breath. "No, I'll be fine, come on. They'll be wondering where we are."

"Look just forget him Jo, you're better off without him chick." Jo turned to her friend and smiled. "I know but I love him Jem."

"Trust me, moving to Wales to be closer to me, Paul and AJ was the best thing you could ever have done. Paul's band need a lead singer and you fit the bill, just wait till they hear you."

Jo turned to look out of the window as the train sped along the tracks towards Cardiff, the countryside whizzed by, marred only by her reflection in the reinforced glass, showing a young brown haired, blue eyed twentyone year old who had given up her flat and her job to take a chance on a music career with her best friends partners band. Jemma smiled and reached out across the table, giving Jo's hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Oi you." She smiled brushing her long blonde hair behind her ears as her green eyed gaze met Jo's sad blue eyes. "Everything will be fine trust me. The opportunity of a lifetime could be just round the corner."
