Infidelity
Infidelity
After waiting in line for 14 hours the doors finally opened. The bags were inspected and there was a mad dash for the barrier. I secured my spot nicely between Richard and Till. Michelle, Manda and I were growing impatient and I made a few snide remarks about Joe that made them giggle. At 8:30pm Joe took the stage, his remixes of Rammstein songs were pretty good, much better live than in the videos I saw online a few days before. At the end of his set he threw his arms up and towards the back of the arena, and the lights went dark. The bridge started to light up and spew steam. I couldn’t see any of them until the bridge was fully lowered and Ollie had made his way mostly across the bridge, torch in hand. Then came Richard, followed by Paul and his silly march. Then came Flake, Doom and Till. Ollie lit each the torches on the side of the stage and they went directly into Sonne. The moment the first pryos went off was when I felt like everything I went through was completely worth it. The heat was so intense, but it was the best feeling in the entire world. The show went by very fast, as always I enjoyed the effects, when it came time for Flake to take to the boat I spent most of my attention to the stage instead of Flake. Richard had disappeared for his Bück dich entrance, and Paul had taken his place. He was all smiles with the crowd, he turned his head toward me, and smiled at me, I blew him a kiss and he blew me one back. The rest of the show was a big blur with random moments of smiles with the soap cannon and the Amerika confetti.
When the show was over we waited a little bit for the crowd to thin. I was facing the back of the arena when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Miss?”
“Yes?” “Who is with you?”I pointed to the three others with me.
“Four total.” he said into his walkie talkie.
“OK give them bracelets and let them back” a voice responded.“Hold out your wrists” he said.
We held them out and he put a green bracelet around it.
“Come this way.” he said pointing to stage left.
We followed him, showed our bracelets to security and were let backstage. Internally I was flipping out, but I was cool, calm and collected on the outside. We were stopped outside a series of 3 doors.
“Wait here.” he said
and wait we did. About ten minutes passed before I heard a voice behind me,
“You have confetti on your back.” I heard as I felt a hand on my back.
“Oh thanks.” I said as I turned around. My eyes widened. I was staring right into Richard's eyes. I let out a breath and said
“Hi.”
Michelle poked me.
“That's it?”
“Hey, you would say less if it was Till.” I said “Vas about me?” We heard a deep voice behind us.Michelle just stood there, frozen. I laughed, and Richard also let out a small laugh. Manda was also frozen. I almost fell over in laughter.
“Guys, its just Till.” Richard said. “Go up to him” he whispered in Michelle's ear.
Michelle just mumbled something incoherent and walked toward Till. I turned back toward Richard and talked about a few things, like where I was from, how old I am, and various other things. A few moments later Richards face changed and he put his finger to his lips. I raised my eyebrow and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped two feet in the air. They both laughed.
“Damnit that isn’t funny.” I said as I turned around.
Richard high-fived Paul. In my head I knew he could pull something like this, he was 'The Master Troll' after all. Paul grabbed my hand and kissed it.
“Well aren’t you the gentleman.” I said blushing.
“Well, you were the only one to blow me a kiss during the show.”I turned bright red. I was so embarrassed.
“I usually don’t do those types of things.”
“Ha, don’t worry about it. I enjoy that type of attention. I see you enjoyed that I reciprocated?” “I did. If I may be blunt, I think you are the cutest thing in the world. Your smile is just infectious.”He started to blush, I embarrassed him. Deep down I felt bad, but I felt satisfied that I kinda trolled the troll.
“I want a drink. Do you want to come?” He asked me.
“Indeed I could use a drink or five.”He took my hand and led me into this large room with every kind of liquor you could think of. I spotted Manda talking to Doom, and Michelle and John talking to Till.
“What is your poison?” Paul asked.
“Ill take a double of Jager.” “Well now, straight onto the hard stuff.” Paul said smiling. He left me for a minute and came back with a red cup with the lovely liquorice tasting stuff.
“What are you having?” I asked
“The same.” “Awesome, a Jager man, I love it. My husband hates it.” “Oh you’re married?” I nodded.“On the count of three? One, two, three.” he said and then we both downed our drinks.
I winced a little, but it was nice.
“Got any snacks? I haven’t eaten all day.”
“Lets go check.” he said as he grabbed my hand.We walked over to the table. It was littered with bowls of pretzels, chips, and candy. I grabbed a while bunch of pretzels and put them in a clean empty cup. I turned away from the table and the liquor hit me like a train and I got a bit dizzy, but held my composure.
“Can we sit down?” I said.
“Sure. Will do.”We found the nearest couch and I plopped down.
“Want a refill before I sit down?” he asked.
“Yea, Ill take vodka and cranberry.”A few things went through my head, one, how was I getting home after this if I missed my bus? And two, Why am I getting drunk with Paul Landers? Before I could internally answer myself Paul came back with my drink and sat down next to me.
“What are you thinking of? You look perplexed.”
“Oh nothing really, I am just thinking about how I came to this moment.” “Well it did start with you coming. Then it was waiting so long, then it was blowing me a kiss.” “You do have a point. All these things I did for you guys.”He smiled at me. I let out a contented sigh. I think the vodka was starting to hit me because I blurted out a few moments later,
“Paul? Do you think I am pretty?”
Paul was a bit baffled.
“Why do you ask?”
“I don’t know I just wanted to know.” “I actually do, I think you are pretty. I love your green hair.”I smiled really wide and he smiled back at me. He leaned in toward me and kissed me on the cheek. I turned bright red and buried my head into my hoodie. Paul started to laugh.
“What?” he said with a chuckle.
“Just surprised me.” I said poking my head out of my hood. “Come here, get closer to me.” he saidI scooted over until our thighs touched. He put his arm around me. He was strong and welcoming. I lay my head on his shoulder.
"You think they would notice if we disappeared for a bit? " Paul said.
"I doubt it, they're too wrapped up in their drunken stupor."
"Now we can walk around and I can get to know you better." he said while smiling.
We walked around for a good hour just around the arena, talking about anything and everything, from the weather, to my life, to food. It was a rather nice conversation. I was just getting onto the topic of music when my phone vibrated. It was a text from Michelle.
"Hey we need to head out if we want to catch our bus."
"Oh shit." I said out loud.
"Vas?"
"I need to get going, I have a greyhound to catch back to new York."
"We can drive you home." he said, "we're headed that way anyway."
"Well that sounds like a great idea, I'll text her."
"Hey Paul said they would drive us back to the city. What time is your bus home?" I text Michelle.
"7am." she text back.
"OK Michelle and John need to be at port authority by maybe 6:30am to catch their bus back to Syracuse."
"Will do! We can leave at 4:30 then. Now we have time to talk. I enjoy your company." I smiled and we continued to talk.
3am rolled around and they yelled at us to leave, they were closing the arena. So we headed to the bus and met up with the others.
"where were you guys?" Manda said.
"walking around, talking."
She let out a smile from the corner of her mouth.
"Well? It's starting to rain again, let's get on the bus." Till said.
We all climbed on the bus.
"Hey Paul, we're all tired can we take bunks just into the city?" I asked.
"Sure."
Just as he said that the other three bolted toward the back of the bus and took bunks. I started to laugh.
"I'll stay here and lay on the couch."
"No, go and take a nap." Paul said.
"No I want to talk to you more."
"Alright."
We both sat on the couch and I put my head in Paul's lap. He didn't seem to mind so I just smiled an looked up at him. I was happy to lay down, it felt nice, I tried to keep up a conversation but I fell short and fell asleep.
Paul poked me,
"Hey you fell asleep, go take a bunk before we head out."
I sat up,
"Yea I should." I bent over and whispered in Paul's ear, "Join me? Just hold me, please?"
I extended my hand and he took it and we headed to a bunk and climbed in together. We both fell asleep in each others arms.
We arrives at Port Authority around 6:45am.
"Whoever's getting off now go ahead." Till said.
Michelle, John, and Manda all got up out of their bunks. I also woke up too to see them off. We took a picture of us all, I gave them hugs and I gathered my things.
"Hey, you live on the island don't you?"
"I do, why?"
"We can just drop you at your door."
I smiled and nodded.
"I'll see you guys soon you hear!" I yelled to the other three.
I sat on the couch as we set off again toward the island. I just at there staring at Paul. I didn't want to go. I had such an amazing time.
"Hey, don't frown."
"Why? I'm leaving."
"I'll be back. Promise. Plus, I left my email in your bag, I have an iPhone so use your iMessage to text me" he said with a smile.
Just as he finished his sentence we pulled up outside my house.
"It was amazing to meet you."
"Likewise."
He gave me a soft kiss on the corner of my mouth and I left the bus. The rumble of the engine disturbed the neighborhood a little. I walked in the door and was greeted by my husband.
"Who dropped you off?"
"The band"
"Liar."
"Whatever, I'm tired. Goodnight"
I went downstairs and took a quick shower, and settled into bed. I emptied my bag and found Paul’s email address. I plugged it into my iPod and sent him a message
