This is a work of fiction. I do not know Alan Rickman. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Part 10
I watched as the cast walked out of the theatre ahead of me and slung my jacket over my arm, throwing my rucksack over the other. Cal caught up with me and put his hand on my shoulder.
‘Fancy a drink? I know this amazing wine bar…’ He grinned at me and I couldn’t help but smiled.
‘I suppose one won’t hurt. What’s the occasion?’
‘Well… a friend of mine is seeing this older guy and I think she really needs to talk about it…’ Cal smiled warmly at me. ‘And… I fancy the bloke behind the bar…’
I laughed as Cal put his arm through mine and we walked in the direction of the wine bar.
Once we were ensconced in a small booth, Cal went up to the bar and spoke to the good-looking blonde barman. There was a lot of eye contact and exchanging of smiles until Cal returned with two ridiculous looking cocktails.
‘Oh my god, what they hell is that?’ I burst out laughing. It was bright yellow with fruit and even an umbrella on he top..
‘It’s a Mai Tai, darling. And even better…it’s on Marco over there.’ Cal flashed a sexy grin and I looked over at Marco, waving a little.
‘He’s cute’ I said and sucked on her short black straw. It was delicious and very alcoholic.
‘You should see him naked… so should I, actually… sadly I am scared it was a once seen, never to be repeated performance…’ Cal sighed. ‘I really like him, Carrie. But never mind… I want to talk about you and our leading man…’
‘There’s nothing to say. Oh fuck!’ I grabbed for my rucksack and turned on my mobile phone. I waited for the bleep and saw the screen flash ‘1 missed call’. It was Alan and he left a message.
‘Hey. I was waiting for you as you left the theatre but you didn’t see me so I thought I would call your phone but it’s obviously not switched on. I can see you are otherwise engaged so … anyway… see you tomorrow no doubt.’ click.
‘Damn it!’ I slapped my head with my hand in frustration. ‘Cal, I’m so sorry but I have to be somewhere…’ I sucked on my straw; I wasn’t going to waste the cocktail.
‘Was that him? Do you really have to run off just because he called you?’ Cal was pouting.
‘Not really but if I don’t go, I could be missing out on some damn fine make-up sex!’
I grinned at him, laughing as he winked and laughed at my comment. In reality, I couldn’t care less if I had sex with Alan or not, but I had to clear things up if I was going to continue working with him, this was getting ridiculous. I stood up and grabbed my rucksack, ruffled Cal’s hair and walked out to grab a cab, waving at Marco as I left.
I stood outside Alan’s flat for a moment, not quite sure what I was doing there. It occurred to me I didn’t want to be anywhere else, so I knocked gently. Alan opened the door and looked at me. He wasn’t smiling and leaving the door open, he walked back to his lounge. I walked into the flat and closed the door, following him.
Alan was sat on his sofa, his head in his hands, his fingers raking through his hair. I didn’t know what to say to him so I sat in the sofa opposite him and waited for a few moments. He looked up at me, his eyes bright.
‘Are you making a fool out of me Carrie?’ He asked me slowly, every word perfectly formed and laced with a tiny bit of venom as he spoke. I felt a shiver go down my spine.
‘Of course not. What are you getting at?’ He was smouldering as he sat very still and I wanted to snog his face off.
‘I thought we had arranged to see each other this evening and yet I watched you leave the Theatre… with someone else.’ He stared at me, his eyebrow raised in a question.
‘Alan… you do know that Cal is gay, don’t you?’ I told him as something in my brain clicked into place.
Alan let out a long breath. ‘No. No I didn’t know that at all. Stupid…my Gaydar is usually pretty well-tuned…’ He smiled a little.
‘You saw us, didn’t you? Going to the wine bar? It’s where his squeeze works. He’s blonde, called Marcus and makes killer Mai Tai’s…’ I laughed.
It occurred to me that Alan was insecure. Who’d have thought that? But I mulled it over in my brain. His long-term partner left him. That must have been tough. And I didn’t know of him being with anyone else since then. I realised I was probably his first.
I stood up and went to sit next to Alan, snaking my arm through his and taking his large hand in mine, stroking the long fingers gently.
‘I’m sorry I forgot to turn my ‘phone on. He invited me for a drink; he thinks I need a friend. It was only one drink. I promise you I have done nothing but think about you since you left me making tea this morning. Talk to me, Alan. What’s going on?’ I turned to look at him.
‘Good question. Maybe you could tell me? I have never been with anyone apart from… well… and you know what happened there.’ His face was set.
‘I know what the papers said. I’m sure it was much harder than they made out it was.’
‘I came home early after a trip… she was here with him…. Not caught in the act but…. Well, it was obvious, I saw it in her face and I could smell sex in the bedroom… you know what I mean.’ His face was brooding now.
‘That’s shitty. ‘ I murmured. ‘I wasn’t that lucky. I walked in to find my fiancé with a skinny blonde sitting on his dick, fucking him in a bed that we had only bought the week before. He had told her he was single.’ Funny. I hadn’t thought about Craig in a very long time. It didn’t hurt anymore.
‘That’s shitty too.’ Alan curled his fingers through mine. ‘Carrie, I think I feel something for you but I don’t have that much to compare it to, you know?’
‘I know.’ I did know.
‘I really like you too. I thought it was just sex, but yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Not the shagging…which is awesome, by the way….’ I grinned at him and he smiled, his eyes crinkling sexily, ‘ I was thinking about the way you shove your hands in your pockets … the way you crease your brow in the middle when you’re thinking… the way you lean your head forward to listen when someone is talking.’ I closed my eyes. The way you kiss me….
‘So what now? I don’t think I want to share you with anyone else.’ He spoke quietly.
This was new ground and neither of us was feeling very safe.
‘I haven’t had had a relationship since Craig. That was almost 3 years ago. I don’t know if I’m ready for anything hot and heavy. I just need something fun, sexy.. exciting, you know? I would like to keep seeing you. There would be no-one else.’ I stared at him and he knew I was being honest. He smiled a wide smile.
‘Will we just see how things go then?’ Alan adjusted his position and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer into his warm body.
‘I’d like that…’ I whispered as I lifted my lips to his and kissed him softly. I turned around in his arms, my chest pressing against his as the kiss deepened. We pulled away, smiling at each other.
‘So…about this awesome shagging…’Alan murmured as he looked into my eyes.
I laughed. I wasn’t going to make it that easy for him. ‘What about it?’ I pulled away and looked at him, smiling.
‘I was thinking we could try and aim for incredible…. That’s better than awesome I think.’ He smiled at me and ran his tongue along his bottom lip suggestively.
‘We could….’ I smiled ‘but can we eat first? I’m starving, I’ve only eaten a banana all day!’
‘Eat? You want to eat, rather than have sex?’ Alan looked at me incredulously.
‘Nope. I want to have a lot of sex and, unless you want to shag me while I’m sleeping, I will need some energy…’ I jumped up and grabbed my mobile, scooting through the saved numbers. ‘Perfect!’ I grinned.
‘God, it’s not KFC, is it?’ Alan looked at me, his lip curled in disgust.
‘Nope, Mr Wong’s Chinese… and they deliver!’ I smiled and Alan grinned at me as he stood. He walked over to me and kissed me firmly.
‘I’ll open some wine. You order.’ He smiled a little, pinching my arse as he walked out of the room. I watched as he left and fought hard to keep from screaming like a girl.
Alan Rickman was my new boyfriend!
