Chapter 10

A/N BUT I come back and give you multiple chapters, which means something, right?

================================================================

Six in the morning came much too soon for both of us, the phone ringing repeatedly until I picked up.

“Rise and shine sexy!” Tom sang over the line loudly, causing me to flinch.

“Don’t take this the wrong way Tomi, but fuck you for being cheery at this hour,” I groaned, hanging up and rolling out of my bed. I stood, running my hands through my hair as I walked to the bathroom. I was brushing my teeth, hair thrown up loosely, when there was a knock on the door. I opened the door, Bee still hiding from me under the covers, with my toothbrush sticking out of my mouth, to see four women and Bill standing there. Tom poked his head out of the door across the hallway and snorted back a laugh.

“Damn Bill, you really know how to pick them!” he laughed, retreating into the room. I raised an eyebrow and took my toothbrush from my mouth.

“Surprise!” he shouted, hands in the air. “Gusti and I hired hair and makeup for you and Bee, that’s part of why you’re up this early and it’s only half of my gift,” he explained, a smile on his face and a wiggle to his stance. I smiled

“That’s wonderful Bill, thank you!” I said, hugging him. “But I apologize in advance for the state of my hair,” I smiled at the stylists. I moved out of the doorway to hug Bill once more before going back into the hotel room. Buick was sitting up on the bed, eyes barely open.

“Who are they?” she asked, stretching.

“Hair and makeup for tonight from Bill and Gustav,” I said, finishing brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth in the sink just as there was another knock on the door.

“What’s next, catering for this shindig?” I joked, opening the door to be greeted by Nick’s smiling face.

“Sorry to interrupt, but I’m not catering,” he said, stepping passed me into the room. “Marina, Brianne, the interviewer downstairs has asked if you would be willing to do an interview with her as well,” he asked, standing between the two beds and trying to look at us both at the same time. I looked to Bee, who shrugged, and nodded.

“Sure, as long as we can get some coffee before,” I said. He clapped his hands together and his grin got wider, if possible.

“Of course, I’ll see to it right now then,” he said, exiting the room and leaving us in silence.

“Well, we’ll start on your hair later,” the stylist said to Buick. Mine however, sat me down.

“We’re going to begin taming this… beast… now,” she said, pulling out a flat iron and plugging it in. I shot a look at Buick as she caught herself laughing, retreating into the bathroom before I could throw anything at her. The stylist misted my hair with a water spray, brushing it out into sections. Once it was completely straight I was allowed to get dressed, warned I should wear something that buttons up. I grabbed a red and black plaid shirt, put on some jeans, and waited in the hall for Buick. She stepped out, just as Nick came out with two coffees.

“Just the girls I want to see. All ready to go?” he said, handing us the hot drinks. I took a slow sip, breathed deeply, and nodded. We followed him down to the elevator, going to the lobby and following him to a smaller meeting room off to the right of the elevator ports. We waited for the boys to finish their interview before going in. The interviewer stood and hugged each of us, her long blonde hair sweeping into her face for a moment before being swept back quickly.

“So, I wanted to interview you ladies with the boys first, and then you two on your own. How does that sound?” she asked. Bill hugged me and said it was fine, sitting us down on the sofa across from her. Gustav sat on the sofa next to us, Bee very close to him. The interviewer, introduced to us as Mary when she began recording our conversation, faced Bill and I first.

“So you two met in New York? What happened there?” she asked, eyes on Bill. He smiled at her kindly, hand in mine.

“We met before the concert by pure coincidence, and happened into each other later after the concert,” he said.

“How sweet. And how did you meet up again in Germany, thousands of miles from the states?” she asked, this time looking at me.

“Well, my family flies out to have a reunion of sorts once a year in the summer, and my Oma lives in Madgeburg. It was just a matter of time before we bumped into each other again,” I fielded the question nicely, earning a squeeze from Bill.

“How very romantic,” she said, not really paying much attention. She turned to Buick.

“I’ve heard around that one of your nicknames,” she began, looking at Brianne, “is Buick. How did this come about?” she asked. Buick laughed, giving me the giggles.

“My friends and family called me Bee, and Mina,” she said, gesturing to me, “combined it with my last name, Ewick, and it’s been with me ever since,” she said, receiving a small smile from Mary.

“So interesting. What was it, Gustav, that drew you and Buick to each other?” she asked. Gustav sat up in his chair, aware he was being talked to now.

“We ran into each other at a club by Madgeburg our first night back from tour, and something about her just made me want to stay all night with her. We ended up staying out and talking the whole night,” he said, holding her hand. Mary asked us each a few more questions, like how we got along with the rest of the band, before excusing the boys from the room. She sat back down with a ruby red grin.

“Well, it looks like its just us girls now,” she said, and I felt like I should have been scared. “We’ll get the basic questions out of the way first. What’s your favorite movie?” She asked, looking at me first.

“It’s a toss up between Casablanca and Nosferatu,” I said. She looked at Bee.

“Rocky Horror Picture Show,” she said, getting a laugh from me.

“Are either of you virgins?” she asked, not looking up from the list of questions in front of her. I choked on nothing at all at the abruptness of the question.

“I am,” I said, getting a snort from Bee. “I’m waiting for the right person to come along,” I added, kicking Bee discreetly.

“I’ve been with one boy ever. I thought he was the one, but I was wrong,” she said, and it was my turn to stifle a laugh. The questions from there went back to favorite colors, celebrities, and other generic questions.

“Ok and our final question on our list is for Marina,” Mary said, full attention on me. “You’ve heard the reporters have dug out a DUI from your closet. What do you have to say in response to these accusations?” she asked. I nodded.

“Yes, I’m sad to hear this incident won’t leave me alone. I regret that it happened, definitely, however I was not driving drunk. I had gone to pick my friend up from a party so he wouldn’t be driving home drunk, he spilled a beer all over me, some getting into my mouth since I was yelling at him to get in my car. I didn’t lose control like they said, he tried to grab the steering wheel and jerked it, slamming us into the SUV in the next lane. I’m so sorry that he died as well as the couple’s daughters, but we’ve all paid our respects and laid to rest any loose ends between us,” I said, hands in my lap. Mary nodded, turning off the recorder and packing up her equipment.

“Thank you so much for your time,” she said, hugging each of us as we left the room.
