Chapter 11

~~Sorry if this feels rushed~~

His hands and mouth made quick work in subduing her into submission.“I don’t know what I would do if you left me again.” He said remembering the harrowing month and a half when he had no clue of her whereabouts.

After their very intense passionate lovemaking he said.

“You know you’re the only woman who has my heart.” He said pulling her closer to him. Tané is jealous of you and trying to destroy what we have.”

Steve didn’t reveal why Tané was so jealous; that night they spent together in Houston, unhinged her. She wanted more than what Steve was willing to give. She did love Jon, but she was in lust with Steve, and Steve was in love with Sherrie, even though he often times allowed his nether regions to think for him. Steve decided then and there to man up and make an honest woman of Sherrie. One more slip up and he knew she’d be gone forever. He wanted to surprise her with a night she’d never forget, but wanted to wait for the best time, which would be after touring in two weeks time.

They finished out the tour with Tané sulking, she didn’t get the desired effect she was hoping for. Sherrie held her own against Tané it was like being in school all over again with the mean girls.

Steve and Sherrie were relieved to be home; Steve because he could rest his voice for a few weeks, and Sherrie because she was able to have Steve all to herself, and put the antics of Tané behind her. She also finally admitted to herself, she was jealous of Tané, and to make matters worse, Steve had started having late night conversations with someone and would get quiet any time she was near; she tried not to be overly paranoid and continued to work on rebuilding her trust in Steve but it was a challenge. He’d promised her his philandering days were over, and was even talking marriage.

~~~~~~~Three weeks later~~~~~~~~~~
Diane called Sherrie up.
“Hi Sherrie, I was wondering if you were free tomorrow night? We can do a girl’s night; get away from the fella’s for a few hours. I know its short notice………….”
“Tomorrow is fine.” Sherrie said interrupting her.
“Eight o clock?” Diane asked.
“That’s perfect.” Sherrie said and they hung up.
Steve had something to do tomorrow evening, and Sherrie didn’t want to be home alone and getting out was just what the doctor ordered. She got up to busy herself about the house, when she heard Steve opening the back door.
“I’m going out tomorrow with Diane.” Sherrie said before he was in the door.
“That’s great.” He responded by giving her a kiss and walking past her with the groceries. “I’m sure I can find something to occupy myself with.” He said with a sly smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The following evening, Sherrie took her time getting dressed. She chose a hot black dress that she knew melted Steve. Sheer black stockings and a patent leather pink belt and pumps completed the picture. His eyes followed her as she got herself ready.

“How about a quickie?” He asked coming up behind her to help her fasten her necklace.

“Forget it.” She said “We were home all day.” And with that she was out the door.

Sherry showed up at the restaurant, cozy but upscale, frequented by other bands and a few celebrities, who like the out of the way spot. Diane and Tena were already seated. Diane waved her over.

“Hi.” Diane said and stood up to embrace Sherrie. Tena did the same. The women sat down and took their time ordering and catching up on old and new gossip, and especially want a hot mess Tané was.

“I don’t know how Jon puts up with her.” Tena said.

Sherrie wasn’t interested in talking about her, and changed the subject. Minutes turned to hours as the women gabbed and laughed the night away. Suddenly Sherrie was aware of a familiar presence standing by the table. She looked up to see Steve standing, looking handsome in a suit, but nervous, with a huge bouquet of flowers and a sheepish grin on his face. Without a word, he got down on one knee and opened a blue suede box, with a beautiful solitaire diamond engagement ring. She looked at him, in his eyes a mixture of love, fear and happiness crossed his features. Her eyes began to well up with tears and she said yes without hesitation and flung herself into his arms, knocking him backwards; but he managed to right himself, throwing a hand behind him. The patrons clapped at the scene that unfolded in front of them. Sherrie later learned that it was Diane that Steve was conspiring with to lure her to their favorite restaurant. The night would not have been complete without Steve serenading Sherrie; which warranted another round of applause from the patrons. The manager brought out champagne for the couple and congratulated them........................
