Chapter 114

++++++++++

"We're always sleeping in,

And sleeping for the wrong team.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kelly stirred, her eyes opening groggily. She was still seated, curled up on Carrie's lap. The morning sun was starting to light up the edges of the room through the window. Kate was laying down, curled up next to them as Ashley snored in the chair. They must've all fallen asleep the night before watching movies. She carefully sat up, smiling sadly as she looked at Carrie who was sleeping while sitting up, leaning against the headboard, her head falling to the side. There was no way she was comfortable, and she definitely would regret it when she awoke.
Kelly reached up, softly cradling the country singer's cheek with her hand. She smoothed over her cheek with her thumb. Carrie's head turned, leaning into her touch. Kelly's smile softened as she leaned forward placing a light kiss on her lips. She pulled back, seeing a small grin playing on Carrie's face. The taller girl wrapped her arms tighter around her, pulling her back to her. Kelly placed her head back against her shoulder, her eyes closing at the feeling of Carrie's lips pressing against her forehead.
"Go back to sleep, baby," Carrie whispered softly, lightly running her nails over the Texan's back, helping her to fall asleep once more.
"Morning ladies," Jason smiled as the four girls joined the guys in the hotel lobby.
All the girls forced a smile, none of which came close to matching the grins the guys were wearing, though they didn't seemed to notice.
"Y'all ready to head out?"
"Yea," Kelly nodded, yawning, motioning for him to lead the way.
"Where are we going today?" Carrie asked curiously.
"A museum," Kelly's smile grew slightly.
"You like museums?"
"She's a total museum nerd," Ashley nodded.
Carrie shook her head, "Well you learn something knew everyday. I don't know why, but you don't seem like a museum person."
"No?" Kelly asked.
"No, something about museums being quiet with all those 'Do Not Touch' signs doesn't seem like something you'd mesh well with."
"I know, but I totally love them. Especially in Europe because everything's so much more historic over here, you know?"
Carrie nodded, linking their arms.
"Plus, it's not just any museum...it's the Louvre."
"I've actually heard of that," she replied excitedly.
"Hearing and seeing are two totally different things. It's so amazing in there."
"We go every time we're in France," Ashley commented.
"So, you're really into this museum thing, huh?"
Kelly nodded.
Carrie smiled.
"What?"
She shrugged, lowering her voice, "It's nice learning new things about you."
Kelly mirrored her smile, having to turn away to keep from kissing her.
"Wait," Jason paused, causing them all to stop walking. He turned, looking around the small group. "We're missing someone...where's Jill?"
"Oh..." Kate spoke up. "She had to go home."
"Home?" Deaner questioned. "Is everything ok?"
"Yea, just something she had to deal with. She told us to apologize to y'all that she couldn't stay the rest of the trip."
"Aw, well that sucks," Jason frowned. "You didn't have to go with her? I mean, not that I want you to go or anything. That's the last thing I want."
"Oh, no, no worries, I'm better off here."
Jason looked at her curiously.
"I would've just gotten in the way," Kate explained.
He nodded, "Well, we'll make sure to get her something from all the places we stop."
Kate smiled, "Thanks, Jay. That's really sweet."
"Sweet is my middle name," he grinned, offering her his arm.
Kate rolled her eyes, accepting it with a soft smile.
"You ok?" Carrie asked under her breath as she and Kelly slowed a pace or two behind to give them a little privacy.
"No," she shook her head. "But I want to enjoy today, so can we talk about it later?"
"Of course," Carrie patted her arm. "I'm all about this Loo thing."
"Louvre," Kelly corrected with a soft giggle.
"Same thing."
"The loo would be the bathroom."
Carrie blushed slightly, "Why can't they just call it a bathroom, then?"
"Because you look so cute when you're flustered."
Carrie shook her head, laughing, "I like you."
"I like you too," she tilted her head against Carrie's shoulder for a brief moment before straightening up as they continued to follow the rest of the group down the sidewalk.
"She's like a dream that a world quit believing,
Caught in the action back to the sea;
How many more might have come from that mountain?
Barely the creatures they struggled to be."
"Kell..." Carrie fussed.
"Nope," Kelly shook her head. "Y'all drug me around all day the other day shopping, today's my turn."
"But my feet hurt."
"You shouldn't have worn heels."
Carrie turned to her with a pout.
Kelly laughed softly, lowering her voice to a whisper.
"How about if you agree to keep walking around with me in here, then tonight we can take a nice hot bath together, and I'll give your poor feet a good foot massage. How's that sound?"
"I think I can agree to that," Carrie nodded, trying to keep her excitement to a minimum, but failing miserably.
"Ok, come on, there's just a couple more wings of this place, I promise," Kelly assured. "Then we've got to find the rest of the group."
"Should we have left the guys by themselves?" Carrie asked.
"Ashley and Kate are with them."
"Ashley and Kate followed the hot tour guide," Carrie reminded.
"Oh, yea. Well, if we can't find the guys in here, the next place to look would be the nearest Parisian jail."
Carrie laughed, "Something tells me if I weren't here, you'd be right along in there with them."
"You gotta live a little," Kelly shrugged, smiling.
Carrie sighed in content as she felt Kelly wrap her arms tighter around her while she sat on the Texan's lap in the bath tub, the water up to her shoulders. She reached back, rubbing the shorter girl's neck appreciatively, "Have I told you lately how beautiful you are?"
Kelly smiled, kissing along the edge of her ear.
"Kell..." Carrie groaned softly. "You gotta give me a five minute grace period."
Kelly laughed, resting her chin on her shoulder.
"How's your back?"
"It's gonna be bruised. The edge of that counter top is hard as hell."
"Sorry bout that," Carrie giggled. "I didn't mean to push you into it so hard."
"It's ok," Kelly grinned, kissing her neck.
"You know, one day, we'll totally be able to pull off the going slow thing."
"One day," Kelly nodded. "But for now, I thoroughly enjoy getting to completely have my way with you."
"Hey, I had my way with you first."
"Yea, but I had my way with you second...and third."
Carrie smiled, leaning further back into her, "I love this. I don't wanna leave."
"We still have a couple days left."
"Where's your head at?" Carrie asked, linking her fingers through Kelly's.
"Shoot, I lost that back when your tongue was somewhere around my bellybutton."
Carrie chuckled, shaking her head.
Kelly kissed the top of her shoulder, and Carrie smiled softly, sensing that both of them had calmed down enough to be able to talk without their minds drifting elsewhere.
"How you feel?"
"Ok," Kelly nodded, noting the change of tone in her voice, realizing the conversation had turned serious for a moment. "You think she's going to be like your sister?"
"What do you mean?"
"Shanna flipped at first, but she came around eventually. Well, not came around to us, but at least to you. Enough to not completely turn her back on you, you know?"
"I don't know," Carrie shrugged. "Everybody's different. Everybody feels about stuff differently--they deal with it differently."
"I don't want to lose her as a friend," Kelly said softly.
"I know."
"I might have to."
"You don't have to."
"Well, I'm surely not losing you."
Carrie smiled, turning her head to kiss her cheek.
"You mean a lot to me, Care," Kelly admitted, her voice showing a hint of nerves. "I can't lose you now."
"You're not going to," Carrie assured her, kissing her temple. She wrapped the Texan's arms tighter around her. "Why don't we just relax and enjoy this for a bit, huh?"
Kelly nodded, "Ok."
