Chapter 12
The same apartment in Santa Monica

“James! Oh, James!” David gasped, reaching his peak and flying over the edge.
The orgasm was long and powerful. James was simultaneously impressed, enraptured and… fascinated… as he gazed at the face of his lover, a face contorted in ecstasy. He’d never seen a man come before today – well, not in person, anyway. Of course, he’d seen the odd porn movie but this was real. “What’s wrong?” David asked, nervously. “Having regrets?”
“God, no!” James replied before he could stop himself. Well, no point in trying to hide it. He knew he’d never been good at disguising his own feelings. “No, it’s what I’ve been wanting since we first met. I’ve dreamed of this moment for months but I never expected to feel quite like this…”
Like what? James wondered. Did he dare hope it had been anything like as good for David as for him?
“… like I’ve been waiting for this all my life…” David’s voice broke on the last word and he paused a moment before continuing.
Did he mean waiting to have sex with another man? He couldn’t possibly mean waiting to have James as his lover, could he? Nah, never in a million years…
“…It’s as though we were meant to be together…”
Fuck! James couldn’t believe what he was hearing but he wanted to hear it, part of him desperately needed to hear this but another part urged him to be cautious and not trust his own ears. People – well, one person in particular - had made false declarations and deceitful promises to him before… But David wasn’t like that. He was a nice guy. Above all he was honest and open. He wouldn’t lie, would he?
David was staring at him, waiting for his reply but James didn’t know what he was expected to say. Heck, he didn’t know what he wanted to say but he did know that if he opened his mouth now a flood of emotion would come tumbling out and he’d probably make an idiot of himself. He chose the safe option and pulled David into a kiss.
