Chapter 12

Gerard

"Satan if you get me out of this I swear I'll sacrifice some poor random boy's virginity in your name." I muttered to myself. It was lunch time at the crazy house, which meant I had to socialize with my fellow troubled teens. The only thing troubling me was how much the haloperidol and the trazodone were affecting my thinking. I'm told that for someone who's psychotic and depressed it's a winning combination. But since I'm not actually either it was making me feel pretty weird. The haloperidol was for the craziness, the trazodone was so that I could be happy and sleep since it was also a sedative.

When I sat down at the table I noticed a few of the other crazy people got up and moved away. One moved closer and was staring at me like I was an alien from Mars. I looked at him and couldn't help but ask, "What?" "Are you really a vampire?" He asked. This just made me raise an eyebrow as I asked, "A vampire?" "That's what they say, that's why they say you only come out at night and talk to evil spirits. Did you really try to drink Stefan's blood?"

I didn't even bother answering. I simply picked up my tray and moved to an empty table where I could be alone to eat. It wasn't an appetizing meal though, that was for sure. Something that vaguely resembled a sandwich and chips and tasted like it'd been sitting in a refrigerator for a month. I'd have sooner eaten tar but it was all they'd give me. As I slowly chewed my food I noticed Stefan was actually on shift. I was tempted to go over and ask him if he knew someone named Brian Molko but I was pretty sure he didn't want me talking to him. Mostly because he was glaring at me.

I could suddenly hear Brian's voice in my ear. "Gerard, don't look at me, don't talk, just listen." I nodded to tell him I understood, Stefan thought I was nodding at him and glared at me even harder. I didn't break eye contact as Brian began to talk. "Michael found out there's actually a Dr. Harvey that runs this joint. He does the intense psycho therapy. I also happened to be in the nurses station while they were doing the treatment schedules. You're going to see him today at four. For the love of God Gerard, keep your mouth shut. Don't tell him anything, not even your favorite color. There's something totally off about this guy, I know it."

I gripped my hand tightly, resisting the temptation to look at him and ask about a billion questions. His hand came over mine as he said, "I know you're probably bursting at the gills with questions Gerard, but now's not the time. I've seen this doctor. He's killed, I can sense it. I know that may not make sense to the living but the dead know these things. Be careful love, and I'll be back as soon as I can." Brian said, then kissed my cheek. I could almost feel him smile as he added, "And tell Stef I send my regards." Then the air felt very very cold. I knew now he was gone, I was alone, and in less than four hours I'd be locked in a room with a murderer.

I thought things couldn't possibly get worse, but I was wrong. Stefan had strode across the room and was now grabbing me by the shoulder, dragging me to my feet. "Back to your room Way, I'll teach you to glare at me like that!" He declared and dragged me out of the dining room and down the hall. I didn't bother fighting him, I just didn't feel like it. Finally we got to my room and he thrust me in. "I have to tell you something." I said, looking up at him.

Stefan Olsdal, while tall and very skinny, is still a strong man. And he's scary. His facial features were very masculine except his lips. They were very full and shaped like a woman's. His brown eyes were gorgeous but his mouse brown hair was so short I could barely tell the color. As he stared down at me he smirked, then said, "Tell me what?" The door was about to automatically lock down. "Brian Molko says hello." I replied, then the door slammed shut, but not before I saw the shocked look on his face.
