Epilogue

Josh walked into the house he and Justin had been sharing for the last five years. He walked into the kitchen and put away the few groceries he’d bought. After doing that he walked back into the living room and looked at the pictures on the mantle. There was the picture of him and Justin standing together on the beach four years ago when they were married. One of the two of them at Justin’s college graduation. There was another with Justin holding their son with him and Bobbie standing behind him smiling. Josh was so glad that she agreed to carry their son. She was Jordan’s godmother and Lance was his godfather. Josh looked at the other pictures of Justin’s mother, father and brothers as well as those with Tyler and Heather. He looked at another picture. A picture of Justin with Chris, Kevin, Johnny, Lance and Nick. Josh let out a short laugh at the picture Justin called the prostitutes gathering. He heard the front door open and close and a second later he heard Justin.
“Josh we’re home.” Justin said
“In here.” Josh called back.
He could hear small feet running towards him.
“Da” the little boy said jumping at Josh who caught him easily.
Justin then walked in and kissed him.
“Hey baby. How was your day?” Josh asked
“Very busy. Jordan picked out his birthday cake and we got the last of the decorations. The good thing is we’re ready for Saturday.” Justin said
“I gon be tree.” Jordan said holding up three fingers.
“You sure are.” Josh said kissing his son.
“How was work?” Justin asked.
“Not too bad. Lance does most of the work.” Josh said
“He loves it.” Justin said
“I know. That’s why I let him do it.” Josh said as they both laughed.

Two days later the backyard was full of friends and family. He looked around and saw Jordan with Justin’s mom and dad. His mind started to run away to memories he tried to forget. He could still hear his father calling him names when he refused to give back control of the company. He remembered the call from his mother and her saying she would never forgive him. He was shaken from his thoughts by Justin.
“Hey what’s that sad look for?” Justin asked his husband
“Just looking at Jordan with your parents. Made me think” Josh said
“Don’t do that to yourself.” Justin said
“I try to let it go but I’m not sure I ever will. It’s strange having parents for twenty-three years and then not. You know.” Josh said
“Of course I do. I mean my parents and I talk but it’s not like it was, but it doesn’t matter. I have you and Jordan and if everything else was gone I’d still be ok.” Justin said kissing him and joining the party.

That night after everyone was gone Josh put Jordan to bed and then joined Justin.
“The party was great.” Josh said
“It did come out good.” Justin said
“You got him to sleep fast.” Justin said
“I think he was wore out. Too much excitement he wore himself out.” Josh said.
“Well he’s not the only one who’s tired.” Justin said laying his head on Josh’s chest. “I love you.”
“Love you too.” Josh said closing his eyes knowing that he would be ok because Justin would always be there for him, even if no one else was.
