Chapter 14
*** If anyone is still reading this, sorry it took so long. I'll try to post the rest of the story in the next few days.
Chapter 14
The zombies started slamming on the door while Josie and Grace ran down the hall to join Brody, Renee and Pompey. Rob and Brad stood by the door, guns ready just in case. Brody came around the corner, drawn by the gun fire.
"How many?" He asked.
"Too many. We just killed four, there are at least three more in there." Brad answered.
"Any luck?" Rob asked Brody.
"Nothing." Brody shook his head, trying to think of what to do next.
"What about the rooms this way?" Rob asked, indicating the opposite way that Brody's group had gone.
"It's worth a shot. Pompey. Renee. Come with me." He called. They quickly joined Brody, Rob and Brad. "They're here, let's quickly check these doors, then we'll try the adjacent corridor. Josie and Grace came back as well but stood a bit back. "You two come with us. We don't know if that doors going to hold, we need you both as far away as possible now." They followed Brody down the hall, Renee hung back for a second, touching Rob's arm as she went to leave, he grabbed her to him and placed a frantic kiss on her lips.
"What was that for?" She asked.
"Just in case I don't make it." He winked.
"You'll be fine, just shoot." She said hurrying off at Brody's call and Brad and Rob were left to stare at the door that was all that stood between them and the zombies.
Brody tried all the doors in the hall that Rob and Brad were in, at the intersection he had no choice but to split them up, he took Josie and Grace and Pompey and Renee went to the right. The third door he tried opened, it led into a small office with computers, probably a reservation office and had another door that when Brody opened led out into the actual airport Terminal. He opened the door a crack and peered out; there was no movement.
"Renee...I got a good room for now, get Pompey here, tell Brad and Rob to stay there and watch the door. Josie you watch this door." He indicated to the door leading out to the terminal.
"You could use the desks to barricade the door in the hallway. Two desks wedged in there might work." Grace said.
"Brilliant." Pompey agreed coming into hear her. He grabbed one end of a desk and Brody got the other. They came back for the second and then got the two desks placed in the hallway, the second desk squeezed in on its side with the legs kicked off by Pompey to make a tight fit. Then they all quickly left for the room where Renee, Grace and Josie were waiting. Once there they locked the door leading to the hallway and barricaded it with furniture. Now they were left with only one option out of the room, the seemingly quiet terminal. Exhausted, most of them laid down on the floor, to rest before they decided to explore the airport. Rob and Renee went to work on one of the computers that now sat on the floor, hoping they could find some information or help online. They still had power to the airport and it seemed as if the internet provider still had power too, they were able to access emails and Rob quickly sent one off to his mother, hoping she would get it. It told her of their situation and of their plans and asked how things were in London and the rest of Europe. And what the plans for eliminating the zombies were. He included a list of phone numbers for everyone's families and asked her to try calling them, even though most of them didn't have hopes for their families in the US. They tried the CNN website but the page could not be found. They tried a few European ones that Rob knew and managed to get some information. Basically the US President and his Vice President had left in Air Force One and were in a secret British location. There was no longer any air travel in Europe. All Countries had issued a mandatory air flight cancellation to reduce the risk of the spread. Any planes trying to land in these countries would be shot down by NATO or other Military powers. Australia, China, Japan, and most African countries had also issued the mandatory lock down. Border crossings were heavily guarded as well, with snipers, and specially trained soldiers guarding border crossings.
"Do you think we'll actually be allowed in if we make it?" Renee asked.
"I'm Robbie Williams, they have to let me in." He only hoped it was true.
