Chapter 16

Nobody had seen or heard from Nerissa I couple weeks and they were really worried. The last time Gerard had seen her she had cut herself and she was completely broken. He was talking to Frank when he saw Nerissa walking into her house in sweat pants and her hair a total mess. She never left the house looking like that.
He ran over to her house and knocked on the door.
Nerissa opened the door and when to slam it in his face when he stopped it with his hand.
“Nerissa we have been worried sick” he said sternly
she looked down at the ground and held out her wrists reveling several deep little cuts.
His eyes went wide in horror and he grabbed her wrists.
“WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS NERIISA WHY?1” she tried pulling her hands away he just gripped tighter and tears formed in her eyes.
Kelsey and Kendra came running across the street
“gee let her go man let us talk to her” Kendra said looking pleadingly at Nerissa.
Nerissa nodded and let them in and closed the door at a heartbroken Gerard.

They went into the living room and sat down and Nerissa just sat there looking blankly at the ground.
Kelsey Spoke First
“Rissa sweetie what is going on”
Nerissa looked up and opened her mouth
“ I might be leaving here” she said quietly handing Kelsey and Kendra a packet From Harvard.
“ I got accepted and I don’t wanna hurt Gerard if I deicide to go. Aldo is Dead. Jack is devastated so I started cutting again” she said showing them her wrists
Kendra Left and went to get Gerard and came back with him.
“Rissa look at this guy he is miserable with out you.”
Gerard looked at Nerissa with tears in his eyes.
Kelsey and Kendra took that as their cue to leave.
As soon as he heard the door close he swooped down and swept her into a hug and started crying
“ I love you Nerissa please don’t hurt yourself anymore please” he begged kissing her wrists.
She watched him and feel tears forming in her eyes.
“ I love you too Gerard. But somethings just……..I can’t ask you to service me at my every little cough or sneeze. I have to do somethings on my own. Aldo is dead. Jack has not come out of his room in days.. he….” She stopped and ran up the stairs and knocked on the door. Nothing
“Jack?” she called
Then she had had enough the threw herself against the door and the sight before her made her scream as though someone had just ripped her heart out of her chest.
There was Jack Laying on the floor in a pool of his own blood. Both wrists and throat cut. There was a note on the bed that Read:

I told you I would get you, didn’t I you little bitch

Gerard came running up the steps to find Nerissa holding a Dead Jack’s head against her chest whiling out sobs.
He ran down the stairs and called 911.

Then ran back up the stairs and tried to get Nerissa off of Jack.
She would not move.
Gerard read the note and knew instantly who it was
“Bert” he growled out
Nerissa continued to weep over Jack’s body until the medics got there and then Gerard held her close to him and lead her down the stairs and to the living room where they were met by the other and Kirsten.
Kirsten hugged her daughter.
The chief medic came down and confirmed Nerissa’s worst fear,……Jack was dead.
Nerissa let out a sob loud and hard enough for all of them as she sunk to the ground.
She got up after a couple minutes and ran out the door. She as not sure where she was going but she ran. Ray followed behind her.
“NERISSA!” he called and she turned around he could tell by the look in her eyes that all the strength and determination that was once there was completely gone. Her eyes were hollow and empty. She was completely broken.
“ I don’t understand Ray. Why does all of this keep happening to me? Why I don’t know what I did why is God punishing me? What did I do?” she asked sinking to her knees crying.
He knelt down and picked her up carrying her bridal style back to her house.

Gerard and Kelsey met him out there Gerard was puffing away on a cigarette and Kelsey was trying to tell him everything was going to be alright.

Nerissa had fallen asleep in Ray’s arm he placed her on the couch and called everyone outside/
“guys when I found her and looked in her eyes the si like nothing there I mean like they were hollow. She is like is like completely broken. This is gonna take time I can tell you that. The question is, what happened who would do something like this?”
“Bert” Gerard answered coldly
“ I told you I would get you didn’t I you little bitch and it was signed B”
he kept calling her little bitch that night at the concert” Gerard added in

Nerissa woke up and looked at everyone and grabbed Gerard’s hand and pulled him down to lay with her.

“excuse me ma’am we are going to have a couple CSI’s lead you upstairs to collect your things and we are going to have to ask you to leave this is an active Crime scene.
Kirsten nodded and looked at her daughter and reached out a hand which Nerissa took and got up.

Gerard looked at Nerissa when she came down stairs.
“you wanna stay at my house your mom could too.” Donna Offered. They both nodded and they left.

“things can only get better from here baby” Gerard whispered in Nerissa’s ear as he hugged her.
