Chapter 16
Carrie's pov.
Carrie watched confused as she tried her hardest not to say anything, she could see her wife out the corner of her eyes but knew if she spoke Kelly would kill her. So Carrie sat quietly, just watching the scene in front of her.
'So....Carrie and I have been talking......' Carrie looked towards Kelly and the mention of her name. 'And we think that you coming on tour so close to having the baby with no name isn't such a good idea......'
'I'm not coming on tour?......'
'Not that we don't want you there......'Kelly added.
'But we don't' Carrie said quietly gaining a slap from Kelly.
'What Carrie means is we don't want you dragging a new born on tour....it's not fair to him and it's not fair to you.....so.....we would love it if you and Jason would watch the house for us......'
'And your not getting paid for it......' Carrie dodged the second slap.
'So what do you say?.......'
'Yea you want to use our house eat our food and enjoy our big screen tv.......' Carrie turned to the smiling Jason. 'well?'
'Oh hell yea....but as long as you leave the bikes behind.....'
'Well we're hardly going to be dragging it behind the bus with us........' Kelly smiled at her brother. ' just don't kill yourself on it.....'
'So awesome.....and I promise to be good.....' Jason went back to making googly eyes with Ashley causing Carrie to look on horrified again.
'Alright.....ive got to ask......you two together or what?.....' Carrie moved her foot around fast under the table so her wife couldn't stomp on it.
'That's none of our business.......'
'Like hell it is.........they know every detail of our life's.......it's pay back....' Carrie turned back to Jason. ' So......spill.....'
'Ashley and I have talked.....and worked a few things out......And.....'
'And we have decided to give it a go for Jakob's sake.......Kelly and Carrie looked towards Ashley confused.
'And who the hells Jakob.......' Kelly asked.
'Yea shouldn't you to be trying to work things out for your baby....not bring other guys into the relationship......'Carrie added. She felt Kelly pull on her arm. ' what?...im just saying......'
'Jakob Clarkson......'Ashley said quietly. 'We thought it sounded nice.....'
'And strong....'Jason added.
'Oh...oh the baby......right sorry.....' Carrie lowered her head in embarrassment.
'Bringing another man into the relationship.....'Ashley mumbled as she walked out of the kitchen.
Kelly's pov.
'You think they'll get married..........' Kelly lay in bed next to Carrie.
'Why?.......'
'Why get married?......' Kelly quizzed.
'Yea...why.....why ruin it......'
'Ruin it?......' Kelly heard Carrie sigh.
'I didn't mean that.....'
'But you said it.....you think we ruined our relationship by getting married?.......' Kelly waited for answer. Her wife seemed to be thinking of an answer before sharing it with Kelly.
'I said it yes.....but it's not what I mean....i don't regret marrying you.......i don't....' Kelly turned away from her wife as she turned off the light by her bed. She lay in the dark listening as Carrie cussed herself. Maybe she didn't mean it but she said it and that hurt to hear. They may have been going threw a rough patch but her heart didn't regret it.
Flashback.
'And these are the roses I told you about.....gorgeous arn't they?.......'Kelly smiled at the woman holding the roses.
'Oh yes....what do you think Carrie?......'
'I think the price of these flowers are crazy.....we could buy a house for this......'
'Yes well if you don't want these....' The sales woman placed the roses back down. ' we have some nice white roses here....fare cheaper if you like that sort of thing.' Carrie rolled her eyes at the sale woman's bad attempt at trying to win them over with snobbery.
'Oh we love the red ones right....and money isn't a problem........'
'Oh yes it is......''I'm not paying that much for flowers so they die three days later......I don't see what the big deal is.........'
'The big deal is our wedding.....'Kelly snapped. Carrie and the sales woman took a step back away from Kelly. 'I want the red ones......'
'Red it is......'Carrie said through gritted teeth. She could almost hear the sales woman snigger at her.
'Wonderful.....I'll have them ordered for you now.......'
..............................................
Carrie sulked in the car as they headed away from the flowers store, they only went to have a look and now Kelly had ordered the flowers.
'We need flowers Carrie.....we can't have a wedding without flowers.......and I thought you liked roses.....'
'I do....but I like having food in my stomach and clothes on my back a lot more......'
'Oh come on,........you know we're both millionaires right?......we could go back there and buy the shop and still not make any kind of dent in our bank accounts.....'
'I don't like wasting money......'
'It's our wedding......the only one we are ever going to have.....why can't you enjoy this?' Carrie could hear Kelly's voice breaking.
'I will baby....when it comes I will......I just.....I want it to happen already......' Carrie pulled the car over to the side of the road. 'I want you to be my wife already......'
'You can't do that.....'Kelly smiled through her tears.
'Can't do what?...'Carrie asked as she wiped away Kelly's tears.
'Be all sweet when im mad at you......'
'I can't help it......'Carrie shrugged causing Kelly to giggle.
'Your lucky your cute.....'
'Can't help that either......'Kelly giggled again as she leaned over leaving a soft kiss on her girlfriends lips. ' But seriously....i just want you to be my wife......i hate this waiting........'
'So lets not.......'Kelly bit her lip...'let's do it.......lets do it this weekend.....'
'Kel....i didn't mean that.......'
'No.....it makes so much sense.....your parents will be here.....Ashley, Jason and my mom are already here......why not do it now.......' Kelly jumped in her seat excitedly.
'What about the roses......'
'Forget them.....come on car this will be so much better.....and the press will never know this way.......They totally think we're doing it in Texan in two months......come on.....'
'Are you sure?' Carrie asked carefully.
'Yea......please.....'Kelly bounced in her seat like a kid asking for a new toy.
'If your sure.....'Carrie smiled.
'Im sure...im sure.....'Kelly threw her arms around her girlfriend pulling her over as close to her as she could.
End Of Flashback.
Carrie's pov.
Carrie stood looking at herself in the mirror as her dad sat nervously behind her.
'Dad there is only six people out there......why are you so nervous.....'
'Your the baby....'Carrie's dad explained quietly. ' i'm giving away my baby......it's a lot for a man to take......and take on short notice.....i was supposed to come up here and help Kelly with the barn.....now im father of the bride.....well one of the brides.....' Carrie smiled at her dad through the mirror.
'You know im not going anywhere.....being married to Kelly wont stop me being your daughter.....'
'I know that.....your mother keeps telling me im gaining another daughter instead of losing one........'
'Exactly.......Kelly thinks like that too.....she loves you and mom......'
'We love her too.....'Carrie's dad smiled as he stood. 'and as the good dad I am...i think I better go and see if she's ok......'Carrie turned to watch her father leave the room. Looking back at the mirror she let out a long sigh. She couldnt believe she was getting married so quietly. It only felt like yesterday she and Kelly were sharing midnight phone calls as they got to know each other.
'Your father wanted to talk to Kelly....'Carrie looked up as Jeanne came in. Even though she had dated Kelly for two years she had only met Jeanne a handful of times but even then the older woman was making sure Carrie knew she wasn't liked.
'Im glad your here Jeanne......' Carrie continued to do her make up as the older woman sat were her father had just sat.
'Well a mother can't miss her daughters first wedding even if it's not a real wedding.....'
'First and last....'Carrie added. ' doubt we will be doing this again......'
'Who knows what the future will hold......' Jeanne smiled sweetly at the blond.
'And it's a wedding to us.....' Carrie said quietly.
'Whatever you say dear.....'Jeanne left the room as quick as she could making Carrie thankful.
........................................
Carrie stood in their back garden holding onto Kelly's hand as the minister talked. Carrie wasn't paying any attention to the old man, she was focused fully on the blond in front of her. They both wore sun dresses with simple flip flops. Kelly had finally agreed with Carrie that things didn't have to be so complicated. As the minister began to vows Carrie said I do at the right part but her mind was still on Kelly. When she heard Kelly say I do she wore the biggest smile, Kelly pulled her into a deep kiss as they sealed their marriage. She could hear the cheers of her family behind her but again her mind was focused fully on her wife.
...............................................
Carrie and Kelly sat together on the swing at the bottom of the garden, their hands linked together as they began their first night of their married life.
'This has been the most perfect day ever.....'
'Even without the roses?....'Carrie whispered.
'Yea.......none of that mattered in the end.......'
'Your my wife.....'Carrie whispered into Kelly's ear.
'And your mine.....'Kelly whispered back.
End of flashback.
Carrie lay in bed watching her wife's back a part of her wanted to turn away too and leave Kelly to sulk but the other part of her, the right part of her knew it would only undo all the good the past few days had done.
'Kelly....'Carrie whispered into the dark. ' That day was the best day of my life.........standing there with you in our garden will be something I never regret..........i dont regret marrying you.......not now and not ever....i promise.......'Carrie watched as Kelly's hand came from her side to her back. Laying it in the middle of them both she held it open till Carrie slipped hers into it. They lay in the dark their hands linked together.
