Chapter Seventeen
"Jon. Calm down." Rob said.
"Calm down? You've defiled her. I can't believe you. And after I told you not too. So did you lie to me then or did you shag her just to spite me?"
"Jon, I didn't lie to you, the other day." Rob didn't know what to say, to keep Jon from freaking out.
"So you are willing to just throw a friendship that has been almost our whole lives away?" Jon was really angry. Nikki and Lex were just standing next to each other dumbfounded.
"Of course not. Maybe we should give you a little while to calm down before we talk about this." Rob said.
"No. We'll talk now. You have known her since she was a little girl. How could you have done this?"
"Okay she's 24 years old. She's not 10. I didn't force her. She is an adult and made an adult decision." Rob was getting angry now too. When did Jon become so judgemental?
"Hello, I'm right here." Lex added.
"Stay out of this Lex." Jon said.
"No I won't. One of the reasons, that I wanted to come to L.A. was to get away from that sort of attitude. The whole family thinks I am some fragile little baby. I'm not. What I do is my business. If I want to screw most of the men in L.A. I will. You can't stop me." Lex told him.
"So that's it then. It's just sex? At least if I said you two were serious, it would be easier on your mother." Jon felt sick.
"Oh my God. Don't you dare tell my mother. I can't believe you are coming here and trying to act like my dad! Jon, you always said you thought I was smart. You don't seem to trust me though." Lex was near tears.
"Lex, you are smart. I know you think you can handle this but you don't understand...."
"Don't! Don't you say anymore. Right now I am going upstairs with Rob to talk, maybe I'll fuck him too. Who knows. I'll talk to you later." She said grabbing Rob's hand and dragging him up to her room. Rob sat quietly on the bed, watching her storm around the room.
"I can not believe this." She was muttering to herself. She pulled off her shirt and continued to stomp around.
"So are we having sex?" Rob asked, looking at her half dressed form.
"No." She laughed.
"Just checking." Rob said laughing too. He leaned back on her bed, resting against the pillows. She went to lay next to him.
"Why doesn't he trust me?" She asked.
"It's not you. It's me. He think's I'm going to hurt you. Break your heart." Rob said, rubbing her back.
"But I could have my heart broken by a normal guy. It happens all the time." She said.
"Yeah but you know what kind of success I have had with women . The odds aren't in our favour. He's just trying to keep you safe."
"Well it's not his job to keep me safe. He can't hide me away from heart ache. Besides..." She didn't finish her sentance.
"Besides, what?" Rob prompted her.
"This is what I've always wanted. I'd rather have a short while of this, then never at all." Lex said holding him tightly.
"So let's enjoy it as long as it lasts." He said kissing her head. They laid there for a long while before Lex, fell asleep and Rob slipped out of the bed. He wanted to talk to Jon.
Jon was out by the pool, he had sunglasses on and Rob couldn't tell if he was asleep. Rob took the lounger next to Jon and laid down too.
"So how mad is she?" Jon asked.
"She's more hurt and confused." Rob answered.
"Nikki read me the riot act. Said I had no business telling Lex what to do." Jon told Rob. Rob smiled when he pictured Nikki, giving Jon shit.
"I'm sorry Jon. I didn't mean to go behind your back. But it's not the sort of thing you can just call up and say 'Is it alright if I shag your cousin?'. You know what I mean?" Rob tried to explain.
"Yeah. She's always had a crush on you but I figured you two would resort to your usually bickering and that would be it." Jon said.
"Wait, did everyone except me know she had a crush on me?" Rob asked.
"Well she never admitted it but we all figured she did."
"Shit. She is amazing, really great once you get her to stop being evil." Rob said with a laugh.
"Yeah she is. So is she your girlfriend?"
"We haven't gotten that far. No official names or anything. But she is as far as I'm concerned."
"Good. Don't make me hurt you." Jon warned.
" Don't worry. I am terrified of what she would do to me, more than anything you could do." Rob said.
"Yeah she's got a really devious mind. Better watch your back mate." Jon told him with a laugh. They stayed out there for a while until Nikki called them into the house.
"Rob, can you come help me figure out the computer? I want to email my mum." Nikki said leaving Jon alone with Lex. She was sitting on a chair at the table.
"Jon let's talk. Like adults. I am one of those you know." She said.
"I know Lex. I've thought about it and while I can't say I am thrilled about it. I'm going to stay out of it."
"Really?"
"Yes. I'm sorry I said those things. I can't help but feel protective." He said.
"I know Jon. But trust me okay?" He nodded. "Good and don't tell either of our mums." She warned.
"I won't." He agreed.
"You had better not. Or I'll tell Nikki about Mr. Pookums." She said refering to the teddy bear Jon had slept with untill he was 14. Not even Rob knew about that.
"Don't you dare." He said grabbing her into a headlock.
