Chapter 19
++++++++
Kelly closed the door and locked it behind her. Carrie turned to her with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't get your hopes up," Kelly laughed, leading her to the bed. She pulled the covers back and climbed in, Carrie right behind her.
"This is comfortable," Carrie commented, lying down, wiggling into the mattress.
"Well, I wouldn't pick something that wasn't," Kelly replied through a yawn. Carrie could see her eyes already starting to close.
"Wait, I don't even get a good night kiss?"
Kelly smiled at her though sleepy eyes, "We're not going to bed. We're just taking a nap."
"So?" Carrie laughed as she yawned again. She wrapped her arms around Kelly's waist, pulling her closer. "Why are you so tired? You didn't sleep well?"
"I must have woken up like five times last night."
"Bad dreams?"
"No," a blush rose to her cheeks. "Good dreams."
Carrie's smile widened, "Not even a little kiss?"
Kelly laughed, "There is no such thing as a little kiss when I kiss you."
"It's not my fault you can't keep your hands off of me."
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you the one with your hands on me?"
"Oh, I got a smart one."
Kelly looked up at her with a smirk, "Yea, so what are you going to do about it?"
Carrie didn't hesitate as she closed the already shrinking distance between them, capturing Kelly's lips in her own. Carrie breathed in the scent of vanilla as she felt Kelly relax and start to kiss her back. She brought a hand up to Kelly's cheek, wanting to feel the warmth of her skin. Kelly couldn't help but smile against the blonde's lips. She hadn't realized just how much she missed this. She parted her lips giving Carrie better access as the blonde's hand trailed down to the small of Kelly's back, pressing her closer. Kelly pulled back.
"What?" Carrie asked worriedly, finding it hard to think as her heart was still pounding in her ears. "Did I hurt you?"
Kelly couldn't help but laugh slightly, "Hurt me?"
"Well, I don't know," Carrie blushed. "This is still kinda new to me."
Kelly brought a gentle hand up, caressing her cheek. Carrie leaned into the touch, turning slightly to kiss her palm. Kelly smiled peacefully. She turned over, keeping Carrie's arm that was still around her where it was and leaned back, as Carrie tightened her grip around her, pulling her close, loving the feeling of Kelly's body pressed against hers. Kelly's eyes started to close, but a smile danced on her lips as she felt Carrie's hand playing with the hem of her shirt.
"Sleep," she smiled.
Carrie sighed from behind her, "You're no fun."
"Remind me to prove how wrong you are later," Kelly replied with a stronger drawl than usual, making Carrie smile.
"Sleep," the blonde laughed, wrapping her arms even tighter, snuggling into the nape of Kelly's neck. She couldn't resist as she placed a gentle kiss against the soft skin before her. She saw several goose bumps rise, but didn't get a response from Kelly, so she did it again, this time lingering a little.
Kelly couldn't hide the soft moan that escaped her lips, "Sleep."
Carrie laughed, rolling her eyes, and snuggling into the girl once more.

Carrie awoke, surrounded in warmth. She slowly became aware of her surroundings, a smile growing as her senses adjusted. Kelly was still wrapped tightly in her arms, their legs intertwined. Carrie leaned up to be able to look down at the brunette. She was sleeping peacefully, her mouth parted slightly as she breathed evenly.
Carrie shook her head in amazement. The girl was beautiful. She kept waiting for someone to pinch her, so she could wake up, because there was no way that the amazing girl lying in her arms was real. Kelly stirred slightly, wrinkling her nose as she fought to stay asleep, and Carrie's smile grew. Kelly's arms wrapped around Carrie's, drawing herself even closer to the blonde, searching for her warmth. Carrie happily obliged, laying back down. Electricity was flowing through her arms were their skin was making contact. She couldn't remember ever feeling happier than she felt at the moment. It was as if nothing could touch them.
"Mmm," Kelly mumbled, stretching slightly. Carrie bit her lip as Kelly unknowingly pressed herself even more into her.
"What time izit?" she drawled.
Carrie loved the fact that her Texas twang always seemed to come out even more than normal when she was tired.
"It's five," she responded, glancing at the clock.
"We gotta get up," she said, turning over in Carrie's arms, and burying her face in Carrie's neck. Carrie smiled down at her, kissing the top of her head.
"Yea, and how is that working out for you?" she laughed.
"I donwanna," she replied, her lips grazing Carrie's neck, and her warm breath sending shivers down the blonde's spine.
"Is this how it is trying to get you up in the mornings?" Carrie asked, searching for something to focus on other than her rushing pulse.
"Yea."
"Remind why I can't sleep in here?" Carrie asked.
Kelly pulled back enough to be able to look at her.
"Cause we have enough rooms. It would be kinda weird, having you sleep in here when we have a couple of empty spare bedrooms, don't you think?"
"You say weird, I say fun," Carrie smiled, kissing her softly.
Kelly smiled back, "I agree. My mother, probably not so much."
Carrie's smiled faded, "You think she'll be mad?"
"I honestly have no idea, and I'd rather not talk about it right now. It's kind of ruining the moment."
"You brought it up," Carrie replied, cutely.
"Yea, I did," Kelly smiled, stealing a kiss before Carrie even had time to react.
"Oh, you think you're smooth, don't you?"
"Like butter," she grinned.
"Oh yea?"
"Yea."
Carrie began to tickle Kelly's sides, earning a slight squeak as Kelly burst into laughter.
"Not fair!"
"Who said anything about fair? I thought this was about fun," she smiled, enjoying the feeling of Kelly squirming in her arms.
"Kelly!" there was a knock on the door. Both girls froze.
"Yea?" she called back.
"Y'all need to get up hun, or you won't be able to sleep tonight," her mother informed her.
"Yes ma'am," Kelly replied, rolling her eyes, causing Carrie to laugh.
"I swear she thinks I'm 10," Kelly sighed, neither of them making a move to get up.
"Well, if you wouldn't act like it..."
"Me? You're the one that started the tickle war," she pointed out.
"Hey," Carrie warned with a smile. "Don't make me start again."
"You heard my mom--time to get up," Kelly grinned, wiggling out of Carrie's arms.
"10 year old," Carrie said under her breath.
"Takes one to know one," Kelly replied, getting out of the bed.
"Mature," Carrie laughed. "Real mature."
++++++++
"So what's for dinner?" Kelly asked happily, hopping onto the counter. Carrie laughed as she sat on a stool next to her.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were pregnant," Ashley smiled.
"What?" Kelly asked, choking on the water that she had been drinking.
"I meant that you're glowing," she explained.
Carrie laughed, "I was about to say. Have you taken an anatomy class, cause that-" she pointed between herself and Kelly, "-is kinda impossible. There are certain, um, parts missing."
Kelly couldn't hide the blush that rose to her cheeks when Ashley eyed her carefully.
"Not that we've done anything like that anyway," she quickly explained.
Ashley turned to Carrie who raised her hands in surrender.
"Not that I haven't tried," the blonde smiled.
"Figures," Ashley replied, teasingly. "Kelly always was a bit of a prude."
Kelly's mouth dropped, "Excuse me for having morals."
"Morals? What about D-"
"Say his name, and I'll beat you down. And don't think that I can't take you, cause I can," Kelly replied.
Ashley raised a hand in surrender, but couldn't hide her smile.
"Whore," she laughed.
"Ok," Kelly replied with a smile. "How can I be both a prude and a whore at the same time?"
"Who's a whore?" Jason asked, walking into the kitchen and grabbing an apple from the bowl behind Kelly.
"Nobody you know," Ashley replied, smiling at Kelly.
"Actually, a lot of girls you know are," Kelly chimed in. "But they weren't who we're talking about."
"Hey, back off," Jason said. "I know some very nice ladies."
"Oh yea?" Ashley asked. "And how much did you have to pay to get to 'know' them?"
Jason's mouth dropped, much in the way that his sister's had moments before, and he tossed his apple at Ashley who dodged to avoid it.
"So what's for dinner?" he asked, eyeing the apple, trying to decide if it was still edible or not.
"Where's mom?" Kelly asked, turning to Ashley.
"Last time I saw her, she was measuring my closet for new shelves."
"Ash, go get my mom out of your room. If you don't stop her, she'll end up redecorating my whole house."
"Well, sorry for trying to do something nice for my best friend," Ashley smiled.
"I already thanked you, didn't I?"
"I don't remember," Ashley folded her arms.
"Well, Ashley, you are the bestest friend a girl could ever ask for, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart," Kelly replied sweetly. "How's that?"
Ashley shrugged, "I guess that'll do."
"Now will you go get my mom before she breaks something?"
"Alright," Ashley sighed, walking out of the kitchen.
Jason smiled at Carrie, taking a bite into the apple, deciding that the five second rule applied, "So, how you like Texas so far?"
Carrie raised an eyebrow. He had asked her that about ten times already, "It's nice."
Kelly watched her brother carefully as he pulled up a stool next to Carrie.
"Yea, I wish I could have grown up here, like Kelly. It's really beautiful."
"And where did you grow up?" Carrie asked.
"Everywhere. California. North Carolina. I was in Alaska for a couple years."
"Alaska?"
"Yea, that was pretty cool. You should go one day."
"Hey, Care, can you help me with something real quick?" Kelly asked, hopping down from the counter.
"Sure babe," Carrie replied, giving Jason a polite smile before following Kelly through a door into thelaundry room.
Kelly slid her fingers through Carrie's belt loops, pulling her close, and leaned up, planting a firm kiss on the blonde's lips.
"What was that for?" Carrie asked with a grin.
"I just wanted to make sure you remembered which Clarkson you were dating," Kelly replied.
"Babe, I was just being polit--woah, wait, are you jealous?" she asked, her grin widening.
Kelly rolled her eyes, "Of Jason? Please, my old atari has more game than him."
"You sure? Cause I don't mind having to reassuring you again," Carrie smiled, leaning again.
"Well, maybe I am. You know," Kelly whispered with a smile. "Just a little."
Carrie nodded, "I thought so."
She kissed her gently, doing her best to convey how much her heart truly was only for Kelly.
"Kell," Ashley opened the door. "Woah--"
The two quickly broke apart.
"How about giving a girl some warning?" she asked, trying to ease the awkwardness. "Or better yet, lock the door," she said, lowering her voice. "I could have been your mom or Jason."
"Sorry," Kelly replied.
"Yea, we sort of just got carried away," Carrie explained.
"Yea, well, to answer your question," she said to Kelly. "Your mom said to order a pizza. And you," she turned to Carrie. "Your boyfriend's looking for you."
Kelly's eyes narrowed, taking a step towards Ashley who bolted out the door.
"I found them Jeanne!" she called. "Kelly had a little problem, but it's ok, Carrie was able to fix it!"
"I'm gonna hurt her," Kelly nodded. "Yea."
"Hey," Carrie said. Kelly turned to her and was forced to take a step back as Carrie's lips pressed against hers. "Relax," she smiled, pulling away, leaving Kelly with a lazy grin on her face.
