Part 2

Daniel groaned as he checked his neck one more time.
“Let me see! Let me see!” Darren was jumping behind him, excited to see the result.
But Daniel ignored him and continued inspecting his brand new look.
“Not bad,” he muttered.
“Let me see!” Darren was beginning to pout, so Daniel turned around and let his friend inspect his scalp.
His upper neck was clean shaven and a Japanese symbol was formed by hair and skin until the middle of Daniel’s head. It wasn’t as big as the others they had seen in the pictures, but suited Daniel’s head pretty well.
“Neat…” Darren grinned, rubbing the zone with his fingers.
“Less, Dare… less…” Daniel shrugged Darren’s attentions off and turned around to pay.
“No, Danny… I’ll pay. After all… it was I who got you into this.” Darren smiled, batting his eyelashes genially.
Daniel nodded.
“Okay.”
Darren handed some money to the shop attendant and Daniel realized Darren had done something whilst waiting for him to finish.
Darren’s left hand was covered in golden dye, Japanese characters all over the back of his hand. ‘Wasn’t this a Thai tradition???’ But Daniel had decided to just give over… Japanese people were weird, period.
“Let me see that…” Daniel grabbed Darren’s hand and examined it.
Darren blushed; somehow this move harprirprised him.
“Oh… it’s just a little thing I did while waiting…”
“Looks nice.” Daniel let go of the said hand and ed ued up smiling.
Darren smiled back.

They got out of the shop and Daniel instantly felt a chill down his neck.
“What?” Darren noticed it.
“Oh… feels just a little weird…” Daniel smirked, rubbing his shaved neck.
Darren grinned.
“You look cute.”
“Cute?” A brow rose.
“Yeah… in a grrr kinda way.” Darren cleaned his throat, looking away.
“Oh. Okay…” Daniel grinned. They started walking down the street; it was getting late so they decided to get back to the hotel.

“Dare… that guy’s looking at me funny…” Daniel mumbled, having a peek at a young asian reflected on the window, sat on the other side of the carriage; he could see the man staring.
“Hmn…?” Darren looked up from the tube-map.He was making sure they didn’t get out in the wrong station.
“Nothing…” Daniel sighed, deciding to stop overreacting, the guy was probably not even looking at him… he could be looking at someone behind him…
He turned his head to look behind and realized no one was seating after them.
When he turned back, he crossed stares midway with the guy, who had the nerve to smile teasingly; Daniel quickly looked away.
‘Okay… so that must mean he IS staring at me.’

“What is it Dan? You’ve been acting weird ever since we left that shop.” Darren giggled, watching as Daniel hid more and more in his long topcoat as mad made their way back to their hotel.
“It’s just that… everywhere… people stare at me…” Darren looked around and saw no one doing it. “Really, Dare… First… when we were walking towards the tube station… I didn’t really give it much attention then… but in the carriage… some guy kept staring at me… and I mean STARING…!”
“Well… that’s probably because he found you cute.” He giggled teasingly.
“No… I was on my back… he was looking at me… I’m sure… there was no one behind us… and…”
“Daniel… perhaps the guy liked you? What’s the problem with that? And you have to admit that he could have recognized you. We’re pretty famous here. But I shouldn’t need to be telling you this… you know it as well as I do.”
“No, Dare… you don’t understand! When we got out of our station… more people kept staring at me… they’d walk across us and then turn around to check… I think it has to do with my hair…” Daniel’s voice grew more silent as he spoke the last words.

“Ah don’t be ridiculous! It’s a hip thing! I saw at least two guys with their hair cut like yours… You know how Japanese people are! They grab everything happening in the Occidental world! Besides… how many times did we stop for autographs today Dan?” Daniel lowered his gaze, a pensive look in his face.

He remembered the hello kitty girls laughing at him too, muttering something undecipherable, and laughing again, but with Darren they didn’t do it… which was odd… they always got more giggly with Darren…

Darren sighed.

“What does that sign mean, anyway?” Darren asked, as he had another look at his mate’s hairdo.
“I have no idea… the guy showed me a catalog with some designs… and I picked this one… it looked nice…” Darren rose his brows at hearing his friend say the word ‘nice’, it just sounded weird, hearing Daniel speak it!
“Hmn…” Darren started walking slowerhavehave a better look of Daniel’s shaved neck.

It started to bother Daniel. Not only did he have to stand people he’d never seen before in his life staring at him, but also a very blatant Darren analyzing him.
“Stop it Dare!” Daniel slowed down, and felt the other man bump into him.
“Hey!” Darren complained, supporting himself in Daniel’s shoulders; once he got his balance back, got back beside his mate.
“What do you reckon it means?” Daniel asked, recognizing the et tet they were walking into; Darren was the one charged with guidihem, hem, he would normally just follow him, but these streets were getting all too familiar for the past week.
“Uh… nope… not a clue. Sorry.” Darren admitted.
“It must be something really sordid… look…” Daniel nodded, Darren followed his nod and observed as a group of giggling teenagers that had just bypassed him turned around and pointed at a certain blond male, Daniel.
“Okay… this is serious. Hide your head!” Darren teased, attacking the musician, disheveling the said man’s hair.
Daniel frowned, backing away and hitting a pedestrian who had had the ‘luck’ to be passing by at that moment.
“Oh sorry…!” Daniel immediately apologized, only to be completely ignored by the person, who tried to get as far from him as possible, speeding up the street.

“Thanks a lot.” Dan moped, Darren looked up and giggled.
“Awww… a pouting Danny… that I’d never seen before! Sure is refreshing from your eternal ‘it’s all good’ sunny beam.”
Daniel started smiling agai“You“You do it so much I’m starting to catch it.”
Now was Darren’s turn to pout.
“I do NOT…!” he groaned, running to catch up with Daniel.
