Chapter 2

I still don't own anyone in this story. I'd have a lot of fun if I did. And I like chance encounters sometimes in my stories so this has one in it. I hate original character pairings though so the people I bring in never stay long unless they are villains.

Theoanna - This chapter is a bit removed from how I usually write. I hope you can get through it so that it comes together more in the next. I just wanted at least one totally tame chapter before I threw in the angst again. :-)

Ryan opened his eyes and tried to figure out what had woken him up. When the phone rang again, he sighed. For a moment he debated whether to answer it or not. He'd gotten into LA and had a horrible time trying to get home. Everywhere he went people were screaming for Simon, Paula, or Randy. They figured since Ryan was there, the others had to be. A few wanted his autograph though. Others were polite enough to tell him that he was a sellout or that he was a pretty boy and had no talent. He especially loved the taunts that he was jealous of Bo and that was why the man hadn't won. The insults varied.

He got the attention of a cab driver and stood there as his luggage was being loaded into the trunk. He smiled and waved to the crowd and then he jumped into the vehicle. Why do I bother going out in public? He leaned back and closed his eyes and then jumped when he felt a hand on his arm. He turned to look and saw a woman sitting there staring at him. She was about his age, but that was where the similarities ended. She was short, overweight, and had dark hair. He thought she was probably Hispanic. "Um...excuse me. I didn't know the cab had a passenger already."

She shook her head. "It didn't. I'm not a crazy fan. I really don't even like the show..."

He laughed. "This is starting out to be a great conversation."

She grinned. "Yeah, I'm not the most tactful person. Look, I just wanted you to know that I used to watch your show...the talk show. I liked it."

"Too bad more people didn't."

She tilted her head and studied him. "Does it matter? You had fun and your guests had fun. You're good at what you do and American Idol has cheapened you. You're better than that show. You have to decide to be more than their puppet."

He frowned at her. "I think you'd better get out of my cab..."

"Please, don't be that way."

The cab driver turned and interrupted the two. "Hey! Where are you going?"

He frowned and gave an address that was nowhere near his home. He was very careful about letting people know his home address. When the car started up and pulled away, Ryan turned again to glare at the girl. "Be what way?"

"Defensive. I never meant to hurt your feelings. I just wanted you to know that there are fans out there that really care about you. I don't need an autograph and I don't want to hear about the others on the show. I just think that you're talented and wanted you to know. I hate that you might feel overshadowed by the judges. They only insult you on the show because you threaten them. They know that you could go somewhere and leave them behind. They don't do it purposely. It's just that they don't want to lose you."

Ryan didn't know what happened after that, but he began to talk to the girl. He shared some of his insecurities and she listened and offered sound advice. Somehow he managed to get to his house and actually took her with him. They talked well into the night and he had finally kissed her. He knew that he was going to have sex with the woman and he didn't even know her name. One arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her close and the other travelled to her breast. She wasn't thin like a model, but he didn't care. She wasn't really unhealthy either. It was as if she had a strength about her and her size was just an extension of that.

Soft curves filled his senses and he knew as his lips moved to her neck that this wasn't a great idea. She seemed to agree. She pushed him away and straightened her shirt. "Ryan...we can't do this."

"Yes, we can."

She shook her head. "What's my name?"

He closed his eyes and sighed. "So you want me to become your boyfriend now, right? Well it's not going to happen so-"

"Ryan! Stop...that's not what I meant. I just meant that making love is something that you're not ready for. You're just trying to release some pain and frustration and that's fine."

"So what do you suggest?"

She smirked. "How about a swim?"

He couldn't argue that burning off some steam would be great. He took her to the indoor pool in his complex and unlocked the door. He was grateful that he was the only tenant with the perk of using the indoor pool in the middle of the night. He turned to look at the woman and stopped breathing for a moment.

She had stripped down to nothing and was looking in the water as if she weren't sure she wanted to get in. She was definitely not a model. Ryan had seen pictures of women like this and hadn't believed they existed. She had the figure of a goddess, not a waif. She wasn't fighting rolls of fat. She was just solid and had hips and breasts and he realized that she looked large when she was clothed, but underneath the clothing she was just what a man wanted.

She noticed him watching her and blushed. Then she dove in, wanting to hide herself.

Ryan quickly stripped as well and jumped in. He didn't care that she had seen him naked. He just wanted to be near her.

The two swam for over an hour and talked some more. Eventually they went back up to his place and laid down on the bed.

"Ryan...I have to go."

"No. This night is totally removed from the rest of my life. I want it to last."

She smiled. "It can. Just remember how it felt to be one of the little people for a night."

He looked at her and grinned. "I didn't think of it that way. You didn't act starstruck or talk business with me. You just hung out. That's new."

She sat up and took his hand. "Now, I'm going to do one more thing for you before I go."

"What's that?"

She leaned forward and kissed him again. This time she didn't allow him to make it a hungry and fast kiss. She explored his lips and his mouth with her tongue and caressed his cheek. His body trembled with wanting to crush her to him, but he restrained himself.

When she sat back, she saw the look on his face and sighed. "God help me. I can't deny you, Ryan."

She worked her way down his body until she took his cock into her mouth. His yelp of surprise was quickly replaced by a moan of pleasure. She fondled his balls and sucked him down before she began moving on him.

He wanted her up with him. He wanted to make love to her and tell her that he'd do whatever she wanted. It was killing him that she wouldn't let him touch her the way he wanted to. It was overwhelming him with an anguish he couldn't describe. He was so close to her and yet he couldn't get near her in the ways he wanted.

His orgasm rocked him to his core and he lay panting and sweating. She looked up at him and licked her lips, smiling at the tremble he responded with at the sight. She curled up with him and placed her hand on his chest. "Well? Do you feel better?"

He grinned, knowing that she had just given him a glance into what a fan felt like about him. "Yeah, I think I understand a lot more than I did. It hurts to be a fan. Sometimes lashing out keeps you safe from that pain."

She nodded her head. "Now go to sleep. You have a long few days coming up." She closed her eyes and he did the same.

When the phone rang the next morning, Ryan was alone. He frowned. I never knew her name. He snatched the phone. "What?"

Simon raised an eyebrow at Paula and Randy who were gathered around the speakerphone in their home office. "Ryan, it's nearly noon. Did you forget about our meeting to wrap up business from the show?"

"Obviously I did since I wasn't there." He groaned and sat up.

Again Simon looked at the others confused. "The meeting was scheduled for nine."

"And you're just calling me now? That just tells me that I wasn't needed."

Paula saw Simon getting ready to blow up and intervened. "Hey, why don't we just forget the meeting and join up for lunch?"

"Yeah, alright. Where?"

Paula smiled, glad that Ryan had agreed so easily. She named off a Mexican restaurant and was trying to figure out why Ryan was laughing.

"Don't worry about it. I was just thinking that I would rather have had Mexican last night." He hung up the phone without saying goodbye and headed for the shower.
