The first challenge
Lexi walks into the foyer of the hotel and awaits the contestants to arrive downstairs
"Welcome back! We are waiting the tribes to make it downstairs so we can begin the game. For those of you who are just tuning in, here's a recap of our previous episode:
Our contestants: Quinn Allman, Bert McCracken, Tony and Matt Lovato, Nick Gigler, Joel and Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas, David Desrosier, Chuck Comeau, Pierre Bouvier, Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, Tom Delonge, Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool.
The tribes are: Tribe Punkarocker consists of--Tony Lovato, Joel Madden, Quinn Allman, David Desrosier, Chuck Comeau, Paul Thomas, Travis Barker, Tom Delonge, Mike Shinoda, and Billie Joe Armstrong. Tribe Travelandplay consists of--Matt Lovato, Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Bert McCracken, Pierre Bouvier, Nick Gigler, Mark Hoppus, Mike Dirnt, Chester Bennington and Tre Cool.
Here our Tribes come now. Welcome, gentlemen! I see you're all wearing your tribal bandanas. Mr. Lovato has Tribe Punkarocker's flag as Mr. Bouvier has Tribe Travelandplay's flag. Later on today, boys, we will have our first challenge. Right now, you will be receiving items for you to use while you're here. Mr. Comeau and Mr. Martin will you please come here to help pass out your tribe's belongings?"
Chuck and Billy slowly leave their respective tribes and make their way up where Lexi was standing. All of Tribe Punkarocker's things were solid black while Tribe Travelandplay's belongings were red. After each individual had their things, Chuck and Billy once again found themselves standing in front of Lexi.
"Alright, you each get a box. It's community property for the tribe. Everything in these boxes will come in handy at some point. Gentlemen, please take your boxes and head back to your tribes. We will be heading outside very soon."
A camera panned the groups. Each tribe were in a circle, deep in conversation. The host, Lexi, had gone somewhere. A few minutes later, she returned and beckoned everyone to follow her outside. When everyone reached their destination, they saw 3 tour buses idling.
"Ok. We're not flying you to some far-off island as you've been told. You're traveling around in these most excellent buses. You are to board now and get settled. The first challenge will begin when we make the first stop later on today. Tribes, board your buses!!"
All 12 tribal members boarded the designated buses. Once the last person boarded his bus, the host boarded hers. Cameras had been placed in various places on both Tribal buses along with microphones. Lexi watched as everyone settled into their new homes.
**Insert viewer contemplative silence here**
A few hours later, all 3 buses pulled to a stop by a bright green pasture. Our host Lexi deboards her bus to knock on the doors of the buses that contain our 2 tribes. She stands next to the fence as everyone makes it out of their bus. Standing in 2 distinct groups, they all look around wondering what they could be doing out here in the middle of nowhere next to a pasture.
"Alright boys! Here's the first challenge of this game. Remember, the first 2 are only for.....fun. There are 10 guys per tribe. Only 5 of you are allowed to participate per tribe. I'll give you a few minutes to decide who it's gonna be."
The camera pans the 2 groups, both huddled trying to make their decisions. Tribe Travelandplay break their huddle and stand smirking. The camera pans the green pasture and back to Lexi before closing in on the smirking tribe. A few minutes later, Tribe Punkarocker break their huddle.
"Alright, I assume both tribes have made their decisions. Mr. Armstrong, will you please tell us who will be representing your tribe in this challenge?"
Billie Joe speaks: "Paul, Mike, Joel, Tony, and myself will be playing."
Lexi: "Very well. Gentlemen, please step forward and to my right. Mr. Martin who will be representing your tribe for the challenge?"
Billy answers: "Pierre, Matt, Benji, Nick, and Bert will represent us."
Lexi: "Very good. Gentlemen, step up and to my left. Each tribe will stand on this side of the rope (LEXI POINTS TO APPROPRIATE SIDE OF THE ROPE). You are to keep both hands on the rope at all times. Should one hand leave the rope, you will be called out. The tribe who has the most members remaining or who have pulled the other tribe over the line wins. You have a 15 minute time limit on this. If, after 15 minutes, we do not have a winner we will go into tie-breaker round. Everyone ready? Grasp the rope. Get set. Remember, both hands at all times. Go!"
(Order of players: Tribe Punkarocker-Paul in the very back, Mike in front of him, Joel, Tony, then Billie Joe in front. Tribe Travelandplay-Nick in the very back, followed by Benji, then Matt, Bert, and finally Pierre in the front.) Both tribes yanked as hard as they could. Billie Joe went down first. 2 minutes later Bert's left hand slipped and he was called out of the game. As the 2 tribes battled for dominance, Matt Lovato slipped on a rock and fell on his ass. With his cousin still in the challenge, he blushed and went to hide behind some of his tribal members. Tony, however couldn't help but laugh at his cousin.
With Tribe Travelandplay having lost 2 members, they were starting to look rather discouraged. Everyone was cheering for their tribe. Some were even bashing the other tribe. In all good fun, mind you. Suddenly Lexi blows the whistle, signaling the time limit has been reached.
Lexi: "Well, that was interesting. We have a definite winner. Tribe Punkarocker is the winner of this challenge. Congratulations gentlemen. You will now board your buses and wait for the next stop."
The tribes did as they were told. Tribe Punkarocker congratulating their tribe members for a job well-done while on Tribe Travelandplay's bus, they were sulking for their loss. Most people were either going play-by-play on the tug-of-war game or sleeping by the time the buses stopped again.
Lexi: "The first challenge had a distinctive winner this afternoon. It was a well-played game of tug-of-war. Tribe Punkarocker won and now have bragging rights. It seemed Tribe Travelandplay were a little down-hearted as the retreated back to their bus. Maybe the next challenge will prove better for them. Until next time, I'm Lexi for 'Survivor: Punk Rock Style'"
