A Knock Out
Chapter 2- A Knock Out
The next morning, Amanda woke up around 11 and started to get ready for her lunch date with Frankie. By 1, she was dressed and ready to go and thankfully Greg was over at his girlfriend Grace’s house and her parents had taken Nicole and Daniella shopping. Once Frankie called her cell phone, she met him at the end of the driveway and hopped into his silver Mercedes.
“Hey!” she said happily.
“Hey,” he said as they started off.
“So where are we going for lunch?” she asked.
“I was thinking maybe TGI Fridays?”
“Sure.” Once they got there, they were seated right away and began looking through the menu.
“Pick anything you want. My treat,” Frankie said.
“Thank you,” she said and blushed. Once they ordered, they started to talk.
“Look Amanda about yesterday…”
“You think it was a mistake don’t you?” she said sadly. Frankie firmly shook his head.
“The opposite actually. I’m glad I kissed you, and I want to kiss you a lot more,” he said softly. Amanda looked up at him, a giant smile plastered across her face.
“Do you really mean that?”
“Yes. I really like you Amanda. You’re a very mature and amazing girl. I wanted to ask you if um, you’d like to um… uh…”
“Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?”
“Yeah,” he said sheepishly.
“I’d love to Frankie,” she replied. Frankie smiled and leaned across the table and kissed her.
“I’m just scared about what your brother is going to do to me,” he said.
“I’m scared too but he’s gonna have to deal with it.” They ate their lunch and decided to go back to Amanda’s house. When they pulled into the driveway, they saw Greg’s car was there.
“Should we tell him now?” she asked.
“Yeah I think that’d be the best thing to do. One more kiss in case your brother murders me?” he asked. Amanda giggled and gave him a sweet kiss before they made their way into the house. Greg was sitting in the living room watching TV and turned around when he heard them come in.
“Hey… what’s going on?” he asked confused.
“I need to talk to you,” Amanda said quietly.
“Yeah, me too,” added Frankie. Greg gave them both a strange look and shrugged.
“OK.” Frankie and Amanda sat down on the couch across from Greg and Amanda took a deep breath.
“Amanda, what’s going on?” Greg asked worriedly.
“Um this is actually really hard for me to say… well you see Greg, the thing is…” she began.
“Me and Amanda are dating,” Frankie blurted out and then slapped his forehead. Greg stared at them blankly for a few seconds before he burst out laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Amanda asked.
“Good one guys!!! You two? DATING??? Hahahaha you really had me there for a minute. Who put you up to this? Was it Matt? Jesse?” he asked as he tried to control his laughter.
“Greg we’re not kidding. Amanda and I really are together.” Greg’s laughter ended abruptly and he stared at them wide eyed.
“W-w-what? Are you SERIOUS?” Greg asked. Amanda and Frankie nodded slowly. The shock in Greg’s face quickly turned to anger and he stood up.
“YOU. ARE. FUCKING. DEAD!” he exclaimed pointing at Frankie before lunging at him.
“GREG STOP IT!!!” Amanda shrieked as both boys rolled onto the ground, Frankie trying to push Greg off of him. Amanda jumped on Greg’s back and tried desperately to pull him off of Frankie.
“GET OFF ME AMANDA!” Greg screamed.
“Forgive me Greg,” Frankie said before he punched him as hard as he could in the face, knocking Greg out cold. He fell to the floor and took Amanda with him.
“Are you OK?” Frankie asked as he helped Amanda to her feet. She nodded, still in shock from what just happened. They both looked down at the unconscious Greg whose lip and eyebrow were bleeding.
“Are you?” she asked him.
“I’m fine. I’m really sorry about punching your brother in the face. I had to stop him before he killed me,” Frankie said apologetically.
“No it’s OK Frankie. He deserved it. I hope this doesn’t change our relationship,” she said.
“Of course not. Greg will come around sooner or later. I think I better go before he wakes up though.”
“Good idea. I’ll talk to him later, try and put some sense into him,” she said. She walked Frankie to the door and gave him a kiss goodbye.
“I’ll call you later,” he said.
“OK. Bye Frankie,” She said as she closed the door. Amanda sighed. Her brother just tried to kill her first boyfriend. She understood why since it was his best friend, but he didn’t have to freak out like that. She went into the kitchen, got a towel, and rinsed it with cool water before going back to tend to her brother. She dabbed at his bleeding cuts and he groaned as he came to.
“Amanda?” he asked. She nodded.
“Oh man I had the WEIRDEST dream! I dreamt that you and Frankie told me you were dating and then Frankie and I fought.”
“Greg that wasn’t a dream. It just happened.”
“WHAT!” He exclaimed sitting bolt upright before grabbing his head in agony.
“Lie back down,” she instructed and he did. “Look Greg, I really like Frankie and he really likes me. I hope one day you can accept that and know that he makes me happy. I’m not a little girl anymore and the sooner you realize that, the easier everything will be,” she said as a few silent tears rolled down her cheeks. Greg reached up and wiped the warm salt water away from her eyes and bit the inside of his cheek.
“I’m just trying to protect you,” he said softly.
“From what?” she asked.
“Frankie’s 18 years old Amanda and you’re 15. He’s very experienced if you catch my drift and I just don’t want you feeling pressured into doing anything you don’t want to do,” he said.
“I don’t care how many people he’s had sex with Greg. I’m not them and I know not to give into peer pressure. I know Frankie just as well as you do. You know just as I know that Frankie would never make me do something I wasn’t ready for.”
“I know. Frankie’s a really good guy. I just worry because you’re my little sister and it’s my job to watch out for you and keep you safe. If anything ever happened to you, I don’t know what I would do with myself. I don’t want to see you get hurt,” he said, trying to hold back tears.
“He won’t hurt me Greg. He’s not that stupid,” she said giving a little laugh. Greg smiled and slowly sat up, his head feeling a lot better.
“Just promise me one thing. Please be careful. If you ever feel pressured or if he tries to make you do something you don’t want to do, kick him where it hurts and come tell me. I’ll finish him off,” he said with a wink. Amanda giggled and hugged him.
“I promise.”
