2. Lights, camera, heartbreak.

The rain falls the same everytime.
Slowly at first, sliding down the edge of my windowsill, then dripping off to the first floor.
Tears mix with rain as I stick my head out of the window, watching Brendon and Ryan play soccer in the back yard while it rains.
No one can tell i`m crying, because of the rain.
I laugh as Ryan dodges Brendon and falls in the mud, tripping Brendon and piling on top of him.
My mother walks in and tells me to close the window before I catch penumonia.
I do as i`m told.
I've never been much of a rebel, anyways.
My phone rings for the seventh time today, the ID flashing Alex across the screen.
I do the same thing I have been doing, the ignore button has become my best friend.
I lay on my bed, listening to my mom yell at Brendon and Ryan for tracking mud on the new carpet, giggling softly to myself.
Next is the sound of a shower, and then Ryan bursting in my door and jumping on the bed next to me, while I can hear Brendon in the shower now.
"Hi." He whispers, laying his head on my shoulder.
"Hi Ryan, you guys look like you had fun."
"Yeah, If Alex was here you could have played."
"I`m not talking to him anymore."
"Oh. Did something happen?"
"Yeah, he said something that really hurt me." I paused, to smile at him. "But it's not that major."
"Okay. You know, I was thinking about prom."
My smile picked up.
He was talking to me about prom, which could only mean one thing.
He is so going to ask me.
"Yeah, what about it?" I ask casually, leaning back in my bed, while supressing a smile.
"There's this girl I want to ask, but i`m afraid she`ll say no."
"Oh, I doubt she would."
"Great, I should go call her then." He said, while jumping up out of my bed and running out of my room.
"I..he.."
Lights. Camera. Heartbreak.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day at school was the worst.
Prom was in less than two weeks and girls were getting asked out left and right. She was your typical cheerleader, blonde headed, smart, perfect looks, yet a bitch at heart girl.
And she'd caught the eye of my Ryan.
I automatically hated her.
I stabbed continuosly at my mashed potatoes in front of me,until they flew into Spencer's flawless hair.
"Hey, hey, hey! What did the potatoes ever do to you?" He yelled, wrenching the fork from my hand and throwing it down.
"Nothing. I`m just a little upset."
"A little?" He questioned, sarcasticly.
"Yes, Spencer Smith, a little."
"I'd hate to see you if you were really upset then."
"Very funny, Spence." I paused for effect. "Not!"
Maybe i'd be alright.
Maybe Ryan isn't that big of a deal.
Maybe Ashlee isn't such a-
"That two-timing whorey ass slut!" I yelled, slamming my fists down on my tray, causing it to cascade every as I watched Ryan's lips lock onto hers.
Spencer glanced at what I was glaring at then grinned.
"You've got a thing for Ross."
"I do not have a thing for Ryan." I said, calmly peeling hamburger off my shirt as if it were nothing.
"Then what would you call it?"
"I call it love."
"You." He pointed at me. "Love Ryan." He pointed to Ryan. "Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"Better not let Brendon find out."
"Why does it matter? Ryan likes pretty girls."
He frowned.
Spencer actually frowned.
You're beautiful, Missa, I don't ever want to hear you say that again." He said, handing me another napkin to wipe the ketchup off my face.
Sympathy shot.
I know just how to get them to shut up.
Agree.
"Maybe you're right."
"Thanks." He picked up our trays and threw them in the trash as we walked outside the cafeteria, passing Ryan. "And for the record, Ashlee only dates a guy for about a week, maybe two at the most. So, there's hope."
I smiled.
"You know what Spencer?"
"What?"
"I think you're my new best friend."
"Score!"
