Adventures in suburbia
ch 2
“Oh my Gods!” Charlie squealed for the twentieth time on the way back to her apartment.
Sari rolled her eyes, “He’s just a guy! Christ’s sake Charlie, he’s not a god.”
“Easy for you to say. You don’t like HIM.” She stuck her tongue out.
“I like HIM. I’m just not all obsessed over them.”
“But he’s so fucking hot!” she squealed again, “You have to give me a copy of that picture!”
“I will! Shut the fuck up before you wake Dylan!”
“Sorry.” She quieted down as they pulled in front of her apartment.
“Still sleeping?” Sari asked trying to see into the back seat.
Charlie turned around, “Doll-face is passed out. Want to have a cigarette?”
Sari hopped out of the car and joined her friend on the curb, lighting up, “Are you going to tell the guys about meeting Mr. Ville Valo?” she asked.
Charlie shrugged, “I don’t think they’ll care.” She grinned and blew out smoke, “Like that’s going to stop me.”
“I’m never going to hear the end of this am I?” Sari exhaled a stream of smoke.
Charlie shook her head, “No. I’ve never met anyone that famous before! And he like my tattoo!” she fake swooned, “He’s even more gorgeous in person. Oh, his voice!” she hit her cigarette.
Sari looked at her sideways and grinned, “He does have a great voice.”
Charlie laughed, “Are you going to e-mail him that picture?”
She rubbed her arm, “I don’t know.”
“Why not?”
“Because he’s probably not even going to open it. He’ll just mark it as spam and toss it.”
“Just send it, and make sure I get it too!” she stubbed out her cigarette and stood.
Sari joined her, “Alright! Right after I feed the monster and put her to bed.”
“Thanks!” she hugged her and picked up her purse, running up the walk, “Drive careful and give Dylan a kiss for me!”
Sari waved and pulled the car into the street, automatically checking the baby to see if she was still sleeping. She was, so she set a course for home, pulling into her driveway a few minutes later. She lifted Dylan out of her car seat and shouldered the diaper bag, unlocking the door. Her dad was sitting on the couch watching a western on the television.
“Hi Dad.” She said absently.
“Hello.” He said vaguely, getting up to go have a smoke on the patio.
Sari fed the baby, put her in her pajamas and played with her for a while before she finally fell asleep. Smiling at her, Sari kissed her cheek and set her into the crib. She was searching for her phone in the diaper bag and came up with the camera. Remembering her promise, she also pulled out the napkin with Ville’s e-mail address and went to the computer.
Cursing its slowness, she spun around in the chair staring up into the ceiling. She made herself dizzy trying to focus on the fan as she spun.
When it finally booted up she plugged in the camera and sent the picture to Ville. The e-mail she sent to Charlie had the picture, and she added a few of Dylan doing cute things.
Sighing, she went to take a shower and go to bed.
