The Wonders of Fate
Online Pen Pals?
A/N: Alright, I was given advice that perhaps I have something going here. So, Cracks knuckles here's another chapter. Hope you enjoy.
A couple weeks had passed, and the only remembrance that Catrianna had of that one night was the fact that she still had been mending from the injury. Though, memories would forever be embedded in her mind. The expression of horror in her mother was one she wished she could have taken a picture of.
“Catrianna! What is the meaning of this?” her mother had hissed. Actually, it was more reason to fear her mother when her voice was deathly quiet as it had been. Catrianna merely leaned on her crutches gesturing towards her leg. “Mum, as you can see, this was no stunt to escape the benefit.” The girl's mother raised an eyebrow at Ryan who had agreed to help her inside the house before he departed to continue with his tour. “Actually, this band was generous enough to help me after this minor accident while I was working.” The woman shook her head in exasperation. “Catrianna, that job. Honestly, have you any idea how worried your father and I were!?” Cat raised an eyebrow at Ryan and he cracked a weak grin. Her mother looked to be a handful. The woman kept her temper at bay, but when the musicians had departed, she had given Catrianna an earful.
Though, a week later, Catrianna was happily moved into her dormitory and away from her fussing mother. Another week later, and Catrianna was busily at work with her first major projects. She had finished her fashion design one, but now she had been working on the piecing together of her poetry project for her writing class. She had left her MSN running. Back when the situation had happened, Catrianna had added Ryan's instant messenger, but had not expected much from it. Out of nowhere, an instant messenger had come up.

Decorated_Emergency : Hello?
Mystical_Cat: Um... Hello. Ryan, right?
Decorated_Emergency: In the flesh, well, not really. I figured I'd check on how you've been doing. Well, mostly looking to see that your mother didn't finish you off by now.
Mystical_Cat: LOL, I'm still alive if that's what you mean. I'm loads better, thanks. Though, school is school.
Decorated_Emergency: School, huh? Studying anything in particular?
Mystical_Cat: I'm strange... Fashion Design and Creative Writing.
Decorated_Emergency: That's not necessarily strange. I studied Creative Writing for a while.
Mystical_Cat: Oh right, I believe I heard that somewhere.
Decorated_Emergency: Eyeroll – the world is a sad sad place when people you haven't even set eyes on know everything about you.
Mystical_Cat: Is it that bad?
Decorated_Emergency: Well, sometimes.
Mystical_Cat: I see. So how have you been?
Decorated_Emergency: Busy but still alive. We're now back in the United States.
Mystical_Cat: Oh really? That's nice.
Decorated_Emergency: I guess. Listen, I'm going to have to go in a little bit, but I thought I'd see how you were. Hoping you're staying off ladders at least.
Mystical_Cat: Oh yeah, I ought to get back to this project. Poetry is tedious at times. But of course, I've been completely off ladders for the past few weeks.
Decorated_Emergency: LOL, you should see what it's like to turn poetry to lyrics. But yeah, good to know. Anyways, I guess I should be going now. Talk to you later I guess?
Mystical_Cat: Oh absolutely. I'm a mere click away. Well, take care then.
Decorated_Emergency: You too. Bye.

Ryan had closed off his messenger program and then looked away from his computer. He would get back to her later, when he was done with what business he had left to do for that current period of time.
Catrianna stared at the window in disbelief, hardly able to contain her excitement at the fact that the instant messenger had been legitimate. To be perfectly honest, that period of instant messaging had made her week. With new inspiration backing her up, Cat succeeded in finishing her project before going on with her life, back to routine.
The two had proceeded to have conversations here and there. It seemed as Catrianna's intuitive nature proved to be a great one for Ryan to go to for advice. Every time the band had hit up a new state, there was a new post card from that state in the mail. Catrianna had been more than pleased with the messages and would have sent something herself, though the tour constantly had him traveling. Rather, she would send him emails and messages from there. Two months after that first initial messaging, Catrianna had gotten an instant message from another person.

Disturbed_Ramenite: Hello, it's been a while.
Mystical_Cat: That, it has. How have you been?
Disturbed_Ramenite: points at name that might say something. I believe I've been surviving life with the family and the silly boys.
Mystical_Cat: LOL, that maddening?
Disturbed_Ramenite: At times, yes. Actually, right now I happen to currently be sitting in the midsts of a FOB/PATD reunion in one room. This is one of those mad occasions.
Mystical_Cat: I can imagine. Tell Ryan hello for me.
Disturbed_Ramenite: Oh, that's right. You two are regular pen pals now are you?
Mystical_Cat: You can say that.
Becca giggled slightly as Ryan peered over her shoulder. Ryan raised an eyebrow. “What are you saying?” Becca shook her head. “Nothing, nothing at all. She's cute though.” Ryan shrugged as he was grabbing his coat, ready to escape this meeting. “I've got a date tonight. I'll get back to you on that one.” With a wink, he walked out of the door, leaving the rest of the boys to be themselves. Becca sighed as she was hit by a pillow. “Peter Wentz, I'm going to kill you!” Pete smirked, catching the pillow as Becca threw it back. “Seeing is believing little sister.” Becca shook her head. Silly Boys.
Disturbed Ramenite: Sorry, boys distracted, and I unfortunately answered :P.
Catrianna had merely been lounging on her bed as she had been chatting along. When the message had come up, she had been in the midsts of eating cookies that her grandmother had sent her. Oatmeal chocolate chip. They were her favourite after all.
Mystical_Cat: Oh, no worries. I was on a cookie fix. My grandmum sent me a box of homemade ones.
Disturbed_Ramenite: Oh? Cookies? Any flavor in particular?
Mystical_Cat: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, my favourite.
Disturbed_Ramenite: smirks I know a certain someone who is quite fond of oatmeal raisin cookies.
Mystical_Cat: Meaning???
Disturbed_Ramenite: Oh, nothing. Nothing at all.

Becca had now been whistling a tune casually actually flashing an innocent look behind the screen. Call it a hunch, but there was just something about Ryan and this girl that spurred interest. Could it be? After all, this girl, Catrianna, seemed to be a world more decent than this other girl that Ryan had his eyes set on. Becca sighed, not thinking much about how Ryan was making a terrible mistake.

Mystical_Cat: I see. Well, unfortunately, my mum is in a snit. I've yet to prepare for a benefit dinner. We both know why I missed the last one. No excuses this time.
Disturbed_Ramenite: Ugh, benefit dinners. My parents are rather fond of those themselves. Some are far too stuffy for my liking.
Mystical_Cat: All of them are too stuffy for my liking, but C'est la vie. Cheers!
Disturbed_Ramenite: Best of luck then. Talk to you later. Bye!!
Mystical_Cat: Bye.

Catrianna signed off just as she heard her mother calling her. “Catrianna, I had better come up there to see a dress on you.” Cat's eyes widened as she immediately jumped to her feet, wincing a bit at the movement, but still proceeded to her closet where she pulled the first dress she could find. With luck, it had been the new one. Her mother had come up to see her daughter clad in a strapless midnight-blue gown. “Catrianna, hair and make up, now,” she spoke sternly. Cat rolled her eyes and proceeded to go on with getting ready. What a waste of time.
Meanwhile, Rebbecca Wentz was overly pleased when her friend, Ivy had called, asking her if she wished to spend the night at her place. “Oh yes! Anything to escape the madness!” This being said, in a whirlwind, she threw some things together and was well on her way, leaving the boys to do whatever they pleased. After all, they would be the ones to deal with the parents.
About one month later, a quick message had popped up on Cat's computer screen.
---------
Decorated_Emergency: Cat! Check your mail. There's something that should have arrived.
Mystical_Cat: Ryan, have you any concept of timezones? It's about 2 AM here, LOL. No worries, I wasn't quite asleep.
Decorated_Emergency: Whoops, sorry about that. But anyways, looking at the mail any?
Mystical_Cat: Yes, and I believe you sent me a parcel?
Decorated_Emergency: Open it. Call it a really early Christmas present.
Mystical_Cat: Wha?
Catrianna frowned at this mystery to her friend, though, she tore the package open. There fell a plane ticket to the United States in her name to Las Vegas and a backstage pass to their hometown concert. She about hit the floor at this.
Decorated_Emergency: ...Cat??
Mystical_Cat: .... OMG!?!?!?! Ryan- is this? Why? How?
Decorated_Emergency: I have my ways. So, how about it?
Mystical_Cat: You're bloody mental!! YES OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!

Ryan had fallen off his seat, almost laughing here. Cat was kind of crazy from time to time. Brendon raised an eyebrow at this. “Wow, Ry. Flying a girl from England over here? Are you sure you aren't-” Ryan threw a pencil at Brendon. “Lay off, no. She's a friend, that's all.” The singer laughed, twirling the pencil in one hand. “Right, I'll believe that when I see it.” Ryan shook his head before turning to Spencer. “What the hell is he talking about?” Spence shrugged in response. “I don't know, maybe you're really getting into this girl?” Ryan shook his head, and threw Jon a dark look as he made some hip-thrusting movement in response to the conversation. “Ok, no.” Ryan then stick his earphones on, going back to typing, ignoring the jeers of his bandmates.

Decorated_Emergency: Sorry about that, the guys are being total dumbasses.
Mystical_Cat: It's alright. Though, Ry?
Decorated_Emergency: Mmm?
Mystical_Cat: I ought to be getting to bed by now. I have an exam tomorrow.
Decorated_Emergency: Oh yeah, right. Then night. We'll see each other in a month then?
Mystical_Cat: Absolutely Yes! Anyways, good night :)
Decorated_Emergency: Night.

Cat practically floated to her bed as she placed the tickets in a very safe spot. This was all too surreal. She'd actually be visiting Ryan. And, a trip to the United States to boot!! This was all too good to be true. When she got to her bed, she fell asleep with a satisfied sigh.
Meanwhile...
Ryan grinned to himself before he got another IM. His cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as this had been the girl he had recently started to date. The girl was great, though Becca and her seemed to have this rivalry. Ryan had no idea what that was about, but he dealt with whatever came his way. Only one month until the concert... Only one month before he saw Catrianna in the flesh, a girl that had recently grown to be one of his best friends.
A/N: Well, there you go. R & R! Enjoy! More to come.
