Meeting with Jason

My new life started the day I arrived back into London. I felt like I was back home after a long vacation, hoping to find the one person I planned to spend the rest of my life with. When I arrived in my new home, I felt a rush of excitement rush through me. I could not believe it, I was going to finally live in London and have a baby. It seemed that my dreams have come true and everything was going smoothly. But the only problem was finding Jason and telling him about the baby.

After about a one-hour nap, I called Jason’s home phone hoping he would be home and ready to talk.

“Hello?” answered the voice of a soft female voice.

“Is Jason home?” I asked in a shaky voice.

“Yes he is” replied the female voice, “I’ll go and get him.”

After a few moments of silence, I heard Jason’s voice speak into my ear.

“Hello?”

“Jason” I said, “It’s me Ana.”

“Ana, why are you calling at such an hour?” he asked.

“It’s only one in the afternoon Jason! What are you talking about?”

“But what time is it for you?”

“One” I replied, knowing that I surprised him.

“Wait. Are you here in London?” he asked.

“Yes” I breathed. “I’m actually here.”

“For how long?”

“Depends on the situation,” I said with a smile across my lips.

“Situation?” he asked. “What situation?”

“It’s hard to explain,” I said. “How about we meet for lunch tomorrow at the old café?”

“What time?” he asked.

“Is twelve good?” I asked.

“Yeah” Jason replied, before he said good-bye and hung up the phone.

That next day I had been nervous about my lunch date with Jason. I hoped he would take the news of my pregnancy
well, and that he would offer to pay child support and be a big part of this child’s life. However, he did not take the new as well as I hoped it would have been.

“You’re pregnant?” he asked as we sat there drinking our tea at our favorite café.

“I believe that I am indeed pregnant” I replied, looking straight into Jason’s blue eyes.

“And are you sure it’s mine?”

“Of course it’s yours Jason!” I exclaimed. “Did you think that I slept with someone else besides you last time I
was here?”

“Sorry” Jason apologized looking down into his cup of tea.

“Can I ask you something Jason?” I asked hoping he would agree to do it.

“Sure” he replied.

“Promise me that you’ll help raise this child and be there for every performance,” I said looking at him with
hope in my eyes.

Jason gave a long sigh before finally replying to my comment. “I can’t promise you any of that Ana.

“Why Jason? Why?” I asked tears streaming down my cheeks and into my cup of tea.

“I just can’t have a child right now,” he said with a non-guilty look on his face.

“Do you think that I wanted to become pregnant buy a guy I barely knew?” I cried at him.

“Well maybe you should have thought about using protection before you spread your legs open for me!” he yelled,
his face turning red.

“That’s rich coming from a man who knew the possibilities of what would’ve happened if he didn’t use protection
while having sex!” I screamed back at him. By this time people started to stare at us.

“I can’t do this because I’m already married!”

“Married?” I asked, feeling heart-broken.

“Yes, married Ana” he said, calming down a bit.

“Why didn’t you tell me before Jason?”

“Because I wanted you and do things to you that I couldn’t do as a married man. So I lied and said that I was
single,” Jason explained, looking guilty. “I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry too Jason” I said. “I’m sorry that you’ll never see your first child’s birth, see it go to its first
day of school. Graduate, go to college or get married. I’m sorry you choose to be estranged from your own child.”
I stood up from the chair and left the café, never looking back at Jason or the small café ever again.

That weekend all I did was cry. However, the crying stopped when I started to work again at an office. Everyone
there was so kind and wanted to touch my belly all the time, I enjoyed my new job with new faces and a new freedom of coming home late. I knew that I liked being far away from mother and everyone that always nagged me. However my life again changed when I read an advertisement I the daily paper.

It said that an actor named David Tennant wanted to adopt a baby from an already expecting mother, who was
healthy and lived a normal life, and to call the agency’s number given. On my day off, I called the agency, and
gave them my information, where I worked, lived and my age. They told me to meet them the next week at ten in the morning for a meeting with the actor and the agency’s doctor for an examination. I knew that my choice was either
good or bad; I just did not know how it was good or bad.
