Clockwork Angel
07:00 pm
What a hot day it was. The band thought they would have to stop rehearsal to throw themselves into the little pond just around the corner. Shinya had his face stuck to a drum plate, Toshiya had drunk more than 2 bottles of water, Die was sleeping, so as Kyo, and Kaoru called it the end of practice for the day.
“Really? Cool then, I’m going to Okinawa!” – Shinya said.
“Take me with you please.” – Toshiya said.
“Fine by me, since you are here for practice tomorrow…” – Kaoru stated.
Die opened his eyes and shook Kyo awake:
“I think big bad leader ended rehearsal.” – he said yawning.
“Really?... Oh, what time is this???!” – Kyo seemed worried.
“Almost 4 pm. Why?” – Die asked.
“Oh… nothing, I thought it was later.” – Kyo picked his cigarettes’ pack, the lighter, and waved to his bandmates – “I’m off then. Anyone needs a ride?” – No one needed a ride – “Ok then, see ya tomorrow… oh, by the way, Kaoru? I don’t know if I can come to practice tomorrow, anyway, if I can’t, I’ll let you know.” – he said, and left.
“Ok.” – Kaoru answered.
Kyo drove to his place, took a shower, got dressed and looked to his wrist watch: 5:14 pm… he murmured lowly to himself:
“It has been some time… I wonder what it is now.” – in his mind, a mixture of pain, curiosity and fear invaded him.
He laid on the couch and slept ‘till 6 pm. He woke up slowly and looked to his wrist watch again. It was almost the time. His stomach was growling, but he wasn’t so sure if he wanted to or should eat; he knew it would be a long and probably rough night. He grabbed his keys, looked to his apartment and paid special attention to the two portraits on the little table next to the front door: one of him with his mother and another of him with Kaoru, Die, Shinya and Toshiya. He smiled sadly and left, locking the door.
The parking lot under his building seemed colder than usual, but it was always like that when Kyo had to go there for that reason. So he moved to elevator and walked in, when the doors closed, he sighed and pressed 4 buttons in a certain respective order. The elevator moved down. Kyo looked to the door glass and saw the floor of the parking lot going up, then the floor of the basement and then the floor of the sub-basement, after that, there was a long way of darkness, the elevator still going down ‘till it stopped.
The door opened and Kyo walked out to what appeared to be an endless dark corridor with several stone pillars, Kyo walked in a slow pace ‘till he reached the 7th pillar on his left side, there, he placed his left hand and soon, the same three man that appeared in the karaoke bar were right behind him. He complimented them calmly and then they took him to a place he already knew too well.
