Yuki no baka

Kinyoubi no Koibito~part 1

Kinyoubi no Koibito
by Matrim
Part one: Yuki no baka
Song: Taiyou no Ao (because I was listening to it, while I wrote this..so no lyrics..gomen)

Kazuki dumped his guitar in the expert hands of a tech as he strode off stage. "I hate couples!!" He snarled as he walked down the hall. Toshiya and Kaoru stared at him in the hall. Toshiya pouted and dragged Kaoru into the dressing room. Kazuki let out a sigh of frustration, "I didn't mean you two!!" He said and was about to apologize further but the dressing room door was already closing. "Ugh..."
He turned around and walked right into Shinya and Die. He opened his mouth to apologize to them just in case they heard what he said but Die spoke first, "Daijyoubu, Kazuki-kun. They think the whole world revolves around them."
Kazuki managed a weak smile. They walked into their own dressing room just as Shinya turned around and added, "We're sick of them, too, though."
"No, that's not what I meant!!" But the door already closed. "No one listens to me!!" The guitarist stormed down the hall to his own dressing room and wrestled his own costume off. As usual, Yuki was gone already and Yukito was about to head out. Kazuki growled. "'Sakito this and Sakito that, Sakito wants to do this, Sakito wants to drag me into a closet somewhere and fuck my brains out.' Well, fine then!! Let Sakito fuck you upside down and sideways!!!!!!!" He shouted, startling Hiro and Yukito. "Cater to your Sa-chan and let him mess up your makeup so that we have to do it all over again and wait an extra fifteen minutes before we go on stage--see if I care!!!"
"Kazuki....take it easy..." Hiro said, softly.
Kazuki handed his costume to an assistant and grabbed his bag off of thele ale and then he noticed it. Yuki's planner. He snatched it up, "Yuki. No. Baka." He spat out each word as if it personally offended him and looked around the dressing room. Now, who could he get to--? Ah ha! "Ne, Yukito-kun--"
"Gomen, Kazuki-kun. I promised Yoshino that I'd take her out tonight and spend some quality time with her."
"It won't be very long, Yukito. All you have to do is find Yuki and--"
"Do you understand the concept of quality time?" Yukito emphasized the last two words and Kazuki blushed. Yukito looked like the innocent one. Key word: LOOKED.
Kazuki apologized and looked around the room again and spotted Hiro, who was kindly ignoring him. "Doozo!!" He dropped the planner into Hiro's lap.e dre drummer stared at it then looked up at Kazuki.
"Nani kore?"
As if he didn't know.
"Yuki no baka left it here. Could you please track him down and give it to him?"
"Why me?"
"Because...I have a long overdue dinner to get to and I'll be late." Kazuki replied.
Hiro stared at the planner again then looked back up at Kazuki. "But you don't have anyone to have dinner with Kazuki, so how can you be late?"
Yukito began to laugh and Kazuki fumed, "I'm cooking dinner, Hiro!!! And...I-I do, too, have someone--"
"What? Your dog?" Hiro asked, "Alright, I'll do it."
Yukito smiled, "You know how long it takes Kazuki to cook dinner, Hiro."
Hiro and Kazuki stared at the bassist as he quickly ducked out the door and said, "Hour and half--not counting the times he had to start over again because he burned it!"
A newspaper bounced off the doorframe, a second too late. Hiro started laughing as Kazuki glared, "Not everyone is gifted with the talent of cooking or with a wife, Yukito!!" He turned back to Hiro, "Happy hunting."

***********

Yuki checked his watch. Good. He still had an hour left.
He had told Sakito to meet him at his hotel room at 11:30. He knew that the rest of his band would probably be pissed for ditching them like that, Dir en Grey still had to perform and they usually went out with the rest of them to go partying like usual but Sakito's birthday was in less than two hours and Yuki wanted to start it early. Right at midnight.
Problem was: He was missing a gift.
And a birthday card.
And a cake.
Department stores were already closed at 9:00 and Yuki didn't know what to do. Why the hell hadn't he planned this earlier?
He did, it just that...time slipped by so fast that Yuki thought he had more time than usual.
So, here he was scrambling around at the hotel lobby's shops trying to find something that didn't look too bad. He stared at a few things then snatched up a pink card with gold wire and red origami paper decorating it. He'd use this as a birthday card and...he stared at the things around him and tried not to feel like the store clerk was eyeing him suspiciously.
Your own damn fault for coming in here without taking your makeup off first, idiot.
He stared at a few crystal figures on a shelf and picked one. This wasn't enough. One crystal figurine and a birthday card for someone he loved so much on his birthday? This was Sakito he was shopping for, not Kazuki. He spotted a gold necklace (that probably wasn't gold because a) it was 7100 yen and b) it was in a cardboard box) and took that, too. He snatched some gift wrapping paper off the shelf and brought it all to the counter, where he paid for it. He found a bench and looked surreptiously around, making sure that Sakito was nowhere in sight and began to wrap the few things up.

***********

Hiro scratched idly at his eyebrow ring then hung up the phone. Yuki was nowhere to be found. Sakito was at the hotel room, though. He was acting kind of strange. He was a little hesitant on answering but when he found it was Hiro, he was relieved and didn't know where Yuki was. He told Hiro that Yuki would be back at 11:30 and Hiro could've sworn that he heard another voice in the hotel room. It didn't sound like Yuki but Sakito said that Hiro was imagining things.
He adjusted the umbrella and frowned. He hoped Yuki wasn't running around in the rain. It would only make him catch a cold and then Kazuki would totally freak out. He winced at the image his mind conjured up for him.
He sighed and began to walk down the street. He had checked every single bar, the hotel and even the dressing rooms. No Yuki. He looked down at the planner curiously, then tore his eyes away from it.
He shouldn't.
He couldn't.
He wouldn't.
Aw, what the hell?
He opened it with a wry chuckle. Yuki was probably boring, anyway, he wouldn't find anything he didn't know about Yuki, would he?
He stared at the various colors of post-it notes that were stuck all over the place. Some of them didn't stick anymore and were becoming loose leaves of paper that could easily fall off. Various messages were written on them, most of them not even Yuki's handwriting. One told Yuki to come home because Sakito had a surprise for him, another told Yuki that Sakito had lingerie (Hiro quickly stuffed that one in a pocket of the planner), and another told Yuki to stop forgetting his planner--Obviously that one had been ignored--and that Sakito had done something to each of the month pages to make sure that Yuki would not forget. Hiro frowned as he flipped through the planner and gasped.
Whoa. A side of Sakito I'm sure Yuki does not want anyone else to see!!!
Hiro shut the planner with a snap. Curiousity did kill the cat.
And satisfaction was not going to bring it back.
Hiro decided to check the hotel again. Yuki could not have gone far. Where the hell else would he go?

*********

"There! All finished!" Yuki surveyed his handiwork and smiled. It took him three tries but he had finally gotten the gift to look like a gift and not like a cat that he had managed to catch and wrap up. He had wrapped up the necklace and the crystal figureine in light pink floral wrapping paper, seperately and tied them together with a silvery ribbon. He placed the card on top of it and smiled, then looked at his watch. It had taken him an hour to get it right. He still had another hour left.
"Well," he thought out loud, "I'll just surprise him by being there before him." He stood and noticed that it was raining. As he turned to make his way to the elevator, he saw Sakito emerge from it, holding another man's hand. And it looked like Miyabi, his band mate. Yuki froze as they made their way to him, oblivious to the fact that he was there. They stopped five feet away from him and kissed.
Yuki felt his face flush with horror and the ground seemed to drop away as he stared at them in shock. They were kissing too deeply for his enjoyment and he knew this wasn't fanservice like Sakito claimed. Yuki felt his throat tighten. It all began to make sense to him. Is that why you were eager to meet me so late at night? Is that why you wouldn't let me come over? Is that why you were late for our dates? Is that why you seemed mre tired than usual? Is that why you're wearing a different cologne?
Finally, after an eternity, Sakito and Miyabi parted and only then did Sakito notice Yuki standing there with his birthday present. "Yuki..."
"Sa-chan...."
"You didn't tell him?" Miyabi asked, sounding innocent.
Yuki felt something starting to tear in him.
"I'll tell him now if you like."
"Please."
"Yuki, this is Miyabi." Sakito said, painfully oblivious to the fact that Yuki had gone a shade paler than usual. And if he did, he didn't seem to care. "I'm sorry that In't n't tell you this earlier but--you see..."
"We're going out," Miyabi added, gently only heightening Yuki's pain.
"I don't think I'll be able to meet you for that 11:30 date you had. In fact, I don't think I'll be dating you after this."
Yuki gulped. How could he say that so easily?
"I hope you understand."
Yuki could only nod, numbly. There was nothing he could say, was there? Nothing he could do to get his Sakito back..He stepped forward and blinking back tears, he bowed his head and gave Sakito his gift. "Otanjoubi...omedetou...." Something broke inside of him and Yuki whirled and fled. This was too much. Too much. He didn't have to humiliate himself any further by crying in front of Sakito and Miyabi and the entire hotel staff and patrons. He ran out the door and into the rain.

**********

Hiro's jaw dropped as he watched Sakito kiss another man in front of Yuki.
He was horrified and he froze as the whole scene played out in front of him. He knew exactly how Yuki felt but at least his ex had the decency to do it behind his back. Yuki ran past him and into the rain and a few seconds later, Hiro came back to himself. "Yamete, Yuki!! Matte o!!! It's not good for you to run out into the rain!!"
He ran after the fleeing lead singer as quickly as he could, knowing that pain gave strange gifts to people. Finally after a few more moments, Yuki stopped and leaned against the highway bridge railing, oblivious to the rain, his shoulders shaking with sobs. Hiro stopped a few yards away from him and bit his lip. What should he do? Yuki looked so heartbroken that he wouldn't want someone to bother him right now. Hiro watched the other man as the rain poured down around them.

**********

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!!
You're too stupid to live!!
Yuki leaned against the railing, his head bent over his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "Why didn't I know? I should've known earlier!! How can I be such an idiot!!!" The rain poured down on him and Yuki didn't care. It only reflected his mood. He oddly hoped that the rain would somehow wash away the pain or better yet wash away him so that he wouldn't have to feel this way anymore. Or maybe, he thought, I'll catch a cold, then it'll progress to pneumonia and then I'll die and then it'll be all better.
It took him a few moments to realize that the rain wasn't falling on him anymore. He looked up with his soul leaking tears and was surprised to see Hiro, holding an umbrella above him with a gentle smile. "Yuki no baka. You left this behind." He said and handed Yuki his planner. Yuki stared at the drummer than stared at his planner and took it reluctantly. "Though, after what you've been through...I'm not sure if you want it anymore."
"You.....saw?" Yuki asked.
Hiro nodded slowly.
Yuki began to cry again and Hiro sighed, sympathetically and pulled Yuki close. "It's okay, Yuki...c'mon...pull yourself together, okay? No one's worth this pain..."
Yuki buried his face Hiro's chest. "No, it's not okay!!" He wailed.
Hiro held him a little awkwardly while still trying to keep them dry with the umbrella. "Yuki...just let it out. It's okay to be angry with him...and I know you're suffering a lot...but all I can tell you is that...that even though it hurts a lot now, you'll get through it and you'll look back at this and wonder how someone could do that to you!!!"
"I'm already wondering how someone can do this to me!!" Yuki began to hit Hiro and the drummer winced. "Stupid stupid stupid..."
"Itai! Itai!! It's okay to be mad but not at me, ne? I haven't hurt you!!"
Yuki hit him a few more times then wrapped his arms around Hiro and began to cry harder. "Do you know how much time and money I wasted on that...that...brat?!!!" Hiro stroked his hair.
"I don't know...how much?"
Yuki sobbed, "I...I don't know...just a fucking lot, okay?!! I didn't ask for this to happen to me!! Am I a bad person, Hiro? What have I done?"
"No one asks for this to happen to them, Yuki...it just happens...." Hiro said, lamely. "And you're not a bad person." He reached down and raised Yuki's chin. A few stray tears leaked from his eyes as Hiro smiled again at him. "He's not worth you, Yuki. He's not worth these tears." Yuki continued to sob and jumped when he felt Hiro wipe his cheeks and kiss him gently there. "C'mon...I'm sure they're gone from the hotel now, so we can go back. Then we can order all the alcohol you want and you can tell me about how you'd like to hurt him. Or we could call Kazuki and he'll fix everything up."
Yuki shook his head, "Kazuki'll just wreck the hotel..."
"Yeah, you're right. Besides, if I know him, he's still trying to cook dinner." Hiro gave Yuki the umbrella and began the long walk back to the hotel in the rain. Yuki stood there, frozen for a minute before he realized what was going on.
"Hi-Hiro!!" Yuki stammered and began to run after the other man. "Don't walk in the rain!! Here, take the umbrella!!"
"Iie, Yuki. You've been through enough tonight. The least I could do is let you have the umbrella." Hiro continued to walk in the rain.
Yuki's cheeks burned but he ignored it and shyly said, "And the--the least I could do to thank you is let you walk under the umbrella with me. Onegai, Hiro? It would make me feel better."Mo
They walked on in silence back to the hotel without saying a word, without looking at each other, until they were inside. Hesitantly, Yuki looked at his watch.
It was midnight. Friday.
