Broken Nose Sage
Chapter 20 - Broken Nose Saga
"HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU BREAK YOUR NOSE BY FALLING OUT OF A CAB!" I groaned, trying to pull my head away from the yelling uncle at my side. My head, however, refused to cooperate, and I had to stay where I was and bear his loud voice. He growled, throwing his hands in the air in complete lack of control.
He was amusing to watch in his anger, but my nose was swollen to the size of an orange and that had spread to my eyes, which were practically shut. Viggo whirled, as if he had just remembered something else. "And how could you have gotten Orlando's nose broken too! Do you have any idea what that will do to the shooting schedule?! PETER IS FURIOUS!"
"Hey, stop yelling at her Viggo. She didn't mean to do anything, it was an accident." Viggo's eyes glazed over with a mixture of anger and annoyance. He turned to Kat who had watched over my bed for the last seven hours.
"And you! Letting them both go off in a cab alone when they're drunk. You're 27 and you're making stupid decisions still Kat. You're almost as bad as she is!" He gestured wildly to me.
"Oh, would you just SHUT UP already? I have a FUCKING HEAD ACHE HERE!" My voice rose in a tremendous crescendo and Vigg looked over his shoulder surprised. The pain that came when I yelled was blinding and I closed my eyes, opening them slowly. I had taken one frickin hard hit when I fell. A tear dripped slowly down my cheek and Viggo's eyes immediately softened Sit Sitting on the bed next to me, I could feel him brush the hair off of my forehead. "You know I worry, and yet you still manage to go out and get hurt."
"Viggo, you're treating me as if I'm 3, and that's no good because a three-year old would have more freedom to hurt themselves than you give me. I'm not porcelain, as you can obviously see." I raised a hand to the tender skin and cartilage of my wounded nose. I winced as skin came in contact with skin and I heard Vigg sigh.
"I just worry. That's all. And I guess a got a little worked up-"
"A little? I thought you were gonna bite my head off!"
He snorted. "Yeah, right. Anyway, from the way Kat made it sound, I thought you had fallen out of a moving vehicle or something and were critically wounded." He paused for a second, thinking. "And the fact that Orli opened the door with a nice broken nose didn't help ebb my worry."
I nodded, waving the sentimentality away. I wasn't a child. I wasn't his child and he was out of line. After a few minutes of no talking, Viggo stood. "Well, since I had to take this nice field trip and lose valuable studio time, I'm gonna head back and clean up before we leave."
I nodded sullenly. He kissed my forehead and said his farewells to Kat before walking out. Kat brought over another blanket and I sighed as the headache grew in size until the tears were rolling freely down my cheeks. She popped out two of the vicodin the ER doctor had given me for pain and forced them down my throat. As the darkness started to swallow me, I asked for Orlando. Kat shook her head and said later. I made her promise to wake me if he left. She nodded. I didn't see Orlando that day or in many days to come.
