Chapter 20
++++++++
Kelly tried to keep her cool as she felt Carrie's hand dancing on her knee under the table.
"So, how's Ashley's room coming along, mom?" she asked, her voice coming out strained, causing Carrie to suppress a giggle.
"Oh, I think it'll be lovely--a nice change of scenery. Don't you think Ashley?"
"Oh, yes ma'am," Ashley smiled, but narrowed her eyes at Kelly.
"We should do you're room next Kelly," her mom smiled. "A change of scenery wouldn't hurt."
"Mom, there is only one rule of my house, and that is that you don't touch anything in my room," Kelly said gently as she picked up another slice of pizza.
"I know but maybe a new color--"
"Mom," Kelly warned, making Ashley laugh.
"One day," her mom replied. "One day."
Kelly laughed, shaking her head.
"Well, I can see where you get your stubbornness from," Carrie whispered.
"And your lack of common sense...is that from your mom?"
"I have common sense," Carrie replied.
"How many times did you have to flip over the CD before you found which side my song was on?" Kelly asked a smile playing on her lips.
Carrie took a bite of pizza in defeat.
++++++++++
"You play dirty," Carrie commented as they walked up the stairs, headed for bed.
"Are you still going on about the CD comment?" Kelly laughed.
"It was low," she frowned.
"It was funny, and I can't believe I was right. Seriously Care, how many times?"
"Only a few," she replied, indignantly.
Kelly shook her head with laughter, but slipped her hand into Carrie's reassuringly. They stopped at Kelly's door, and Kelly was still beaming with laughter.
"You are so beautiful when you're happy," Carrie confessed.
Kelly felt a blush rise to her cheeks as she looked down nervously, praying that it was dark enough for Carrie not to see.
Carrie misread the gesture, and quickly corrected herself, "I mean, not that you aren't always beautiful. You are. It's just when you're happy, like really happy, you're just...breathtaking."
Kelly felt her ears start to burn, and she was positive that no amount of darkness could hide it now.
"Are you...blushing?" Carrie asked giddily, wrapping her arms around Kelly's waist.
"No," Kelly replied unconvincingly.
"Yes, you are," Carrie smiled. "Hey," she said, her voice becoming serious, making Kelly look up. "I meant every word."
Kelly smiled softly, closing her eyes as she felt Carrie's lips against hers.
"Goodnight," Carrie whispered, pulling away.
"'Night," she drawled, her eyes still closed and a goofy smile playing on her lips.
++++++++++
Carrie walked out of the bathroom, dressed and ready for the day. She smiled as she passed Ashley in the hall who beamed back.
"You look happy," Carrie commented.
"Listen," Ashley replied.
Carrie stood still and smiled as she heard music emitting from Kelly's room.
"You know how long it's been since I heard music coming from there?" Ashley asked.
"She's writing?"
Ashley shook her head, "It's her ipod. Most likely right about now she's singing along, dancing around her room."
Carrie couldn't help but smile fondly at the door that led to the room where her girlfriend was happy.
"Growing up," Ashley explained. "I never once went into her house and didn't hear music. She always had her radio on in her room, whether she was home or not. That way, Kelly informed me, whenever she walked into her room, the music would be there, as if waiting for her. I'm glad she found it again."
"She seemed so happy last night," Carrie confided.
"You want to see happy?" Ashley smiled. "Go," she pointed towards Kelly's door.
"I don't wanna inter-"
But Ashley shook her head, "Five bucks she never notices you because her eyes are shut closed as she imagines herself performing in front of a crowd."
"Seriously?" Carrie laughed.
Ashley nodded, "It's like that twelve year old who used to sing in front of the mirror, pretending to be performing at the Grammies is still in there. Go ahead. Trust me," she added, noticing Carrie's hesitancy, "you want to see this."
Carrie looked at her nervously, but nodded, making her way to Kelly's door. She slowly opened it, peeping her head in as music poured out of the room. A new song was starting, and Kelly jumped excitedly, turning the music up. A funky beat started to play, as Kelly bopped her head, finding the groove. She had her hand held up as if she were holding a microphone, and she spun around. Carrie held her breath, but Ashley had been right, Kelly's eyes were shut tight as she started to sing.
"Mmm--"
Carrie smiled at the soul and warmth in her voice. Sliding all the way into the room, she closed the door as quietly as possible behind her.
Kelly opened her mouth, the biggest grin on her face.
"My life was black and white, until you came around.
So baby come around. Keep on comin' around.
I didn't know wrong from right, till you came around.
So baby come around, please keep comin' around."
Kelly's hips started to sway, and the grin faded to a smirk of sorts as she got into the song.
"There is nothing like the light of you.
You amaze me with the things you do.
I'll do anything you want me to.
Don't ever leave me...alone."
Carrie found her eyes glued to Kelly's body as she moved across the room. That slight hop she had while performing live was coming into play. Carrie had become so used to thinking of the girl as cute and adorable. That it came as a shock to be reminded just how sexy the brunette could be without even trying.
"Baby you can use me,
Any way that you enjoy.
You know how to groove me.
I'm dancing like a little boy.
You do something to me.
I just wanna lay you down.
Anytime or place, so come around."
Carrie felt the room getting hotter as she watched Kelly singing the lyrics, bringing out the emotion and the meaning of the song. She had never heard her sing like this before--so raw and open.
"My life was full of doubt, till you came around.
So baby come around. Keep on comin' around.
I've never been so turned out, until you came around.
So baby come around. Please keep comin' around.
There is nothing like the light of you.
You amaze me with the things you do.
I'll do anything you want me to.
Don't ever leave me...alone--"
Kelly spun around, dragging out the note. Her whole body now moving with the rhythym. Carrie bit her lip.
"Baby you can use me,
Any way that you enjoy."
Carrie wasn't sure how much longer she could just stand there while Kelly sang those words in the tone that she was using, her hand held out in front, knees bent, completely grooving out to the soulful beat that was surrounding them.
"You know how to groove me.
I'm dancing like a little boy.
You do something to me.
I just wanna lay you down."
Carrie took a step forward, but stopped, caught between the want of taking the girl right then and there, or letting her continue this torturous tease as she moved around the room free-heartedly.
"Any time or place so come around.
Kick it with me people."
Kelly's hips began to roll inticingly, and Carrie wanted nothing more than to be pressed against her.
"Do do do. Do do do.
Do do do do do dit.
Do do do. Do do do.
Do dit dit do do do.
Do do do. Do do do.
Do do do do do dit.
Do do do. Do do do.
Yeaaaaaaah!"
Carrie's jaw dropped at the note that came out of Kelly's mouth as she spun, her hand high in the air. She stopped herself, her eyes open and wide at the sight of Carrie. Her surprised expression quickly changed as a playful smile formed on her lips, as she subconsciously started dancing to the music again, slowly making her way towards Carrie. The blonde knew that this was a vision she would never forget. Kelly, walking towards her, her eyes holding a spark, her jeans just low enough that a taunting bit of skin was showing as her body moved to the beat.
"Baby you can use me," Kelly sang, looking directly in Carrie's eyes.
"Anyway that you enjoy." Her arms wrapped around Carrie's waist as she danced against her.
"You know how to groove me.
I'm dancing like a little girl.
You do something to me.
I just wanna lay you down." Kelly's smirk reassured Carrie that Kelly knew exactly what she was doing to her.
"Any time or place so come--
Baby you can use me,
Any way that you enjoy.
You know how to groove me.
I'm dancing like a little girl.
You do something to me.
I just wanna lay you down," Carrie felt Kelly's hips rolled against hers, and her breath caught in her throat.
"Any time or place so come .
Any time or place so come
Any time or place so come around," Kelly back away with that look in her eyes. The looked that dared Carrie to follow her. She reached out, but Kelly moved out of reach, dancing around her in a tantalizing circle, skipping playfully.
"Sing it with me people,
Do do do. Do do do.
Do do do dit do dit.
Do do do. Do do do.
Do dit dit do do do.
Do do do. Do do do.
Do do do dit do dit.
Do do do. Do do do.
Yeah--"
Carrie couldn't take it anymore, and she reached out as Kelly circled in front of her, grabbing her arm, and pulling her close, causing her to take in a sharp breath. Kelly looked up into Carrie's glazed over eyes as Carrie slid her hands down to Kelly's hips that were still swaying slightly to the fading beat. Her lips crashed down onto Kelly's as she tugged on her hips, pressing there bodies together.
Kelly faltered, but immediately, pushed back with just as much force, feeling Carrie moan against her lips. Carrie brought a hand up to Kelly's hair, running her fingers through it, making her head tilt back as the blonde's tongue grazed Kelly's bottom lip, begging for entrance...
Kelly tried to keep her cool as she felt Carrie's hand dancing on her knee under the table.
