Hidden - chapter 27 up!

I was dressed and ready to go to my interview, but did I want to go? Did I want to leave Lily alone with Bam? Did I really want to risk Jonnes daughters life too?

“Daddy please don’t leave me alone with him!” Lily begged as I put on my coat. Tears were falling from her eyes, she looked so scared. I pulled her into my arms.

“Darling I have to go to this interview, if I don’t people will get suspisious and then he’ll do something to us,” I whispered in Finnish. She nodded and clung to me harder.

“But I’m scared, and what will Ilta say?” she asked, her voice shaking.

“Just tell her.... tell her he’s your uncle or something,” I said. Ilta was only young, she wouldn’t notice that Bam was from a different country. She spoke English too, which was a plus. “Now darling, I have to go, or I’m going to be late,” I tried to pull away from her, but she just clung on harder. I sighed. “Sweetie, let me go,” I whisper, my voice breaking. I didn’t want her to let me go, I wanted to hold her and reasure her that everything would be ok. She shook her head as the door bell rang. “Let me get the door darling,” She nods and finally lets me go. I open the door to find Ilta Aaron-Dunn.

“Hello Willa,” she says with a smile. I move aside for her.

“Come in darling. Where are your parents?” I was slightly concerned that they didn’t come to the door as well.

“They were late for some interview, they dropped me off outside,” she said as she dumped her bright pink coat on the floor, as usual. I laugh, as I always do when I when she does that.

“Pick that up darling, now give me a hug, I have to go,” I say as I hold out my arms. She giggles and throws her arms tight around me. For a few seconds I hold her, and I forget Bam, and I forget the last few hours. “Oh darling, thank you so much,” I say as I let her go. She beams at me, and I notice something about her. I can’t place my finger on it… there’s something about her that I’ve not noticed before…what is it? After a few seconds of silence, she pokes me.

“Willa why are you staring at me?” she asked, tilting her head to the side. I shake my head and bring myself back to reality.

“I was just admiring your beautiful eyes sweetie,” I say truthfully. There’s something about her eyes that I’ve never noticed before, but what? As I was pondering I caught sight of the clock on the wall, I was late! “Darling I have to go, now Lily’s uncle is here ok, be nice to him,” Ilta nodded and wandered off into the living room.

“Ok Willa, see you later,” She called out as she disappeared from sight.

“Bye darling, BYE LILY!” I call out. I hear Lily call out back, and with a smile I walk out the door.

During the interview, I couldn’t focus. The interviewer had to repeat her questions, and in the interview pictures, I look distant and dazed. I just can’t stop thinking off Bam! Try as I might, I can’t think about anything but the night before, when I lay next to him as he gently snored. He looked so adorable as he slept! But then the more rational side of me kicked in, he was threatening my daughter, and my god daughter! What was I thinking? I shouldn’t think of him like that! It was disgusting, revolting. This man was threatening me and my family, and all I could think about was how good looking he was as he slept! I was sick! I was wrong! I was…

Bam’s eyes…Ilta’s eyes… they were the same…
