The two arrived home, heading upstairs to the bedroom. Carrie got into the shower, while Kelly got a phone call. After her phone call, Kelly was first lie down in bed.
“Kelly?” Carrie said from the bathroom.
“Hmm?”
Carrie came out of the bathroom laying on her stomach next to Kelly, wrapping her arms around her waist and placing her head on Kelly’s chest hearing her heart beat. “Thank you for tonight. It was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.”
Kelly lifted her hand to Carrie’s chin lifting it so she could see Carrie’s eyes. Without saying a word Kelly brought their lips together. Carrie deepened the kiss licking Kelly’s bottom lip. Kelly granted Carrie entrance as their tongues danced together. Kelly broke the kiss, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Carrie said leaning down to kiss Kelly again however she stopped when Kelly began talking again.
“Carrie I want my family and friends to know about you. I mean it’s been two years and only a couple of my friends know but I want my family to know.”
“Kelly I don’t know…”
“I know but you make me happy and it’s showing and my family wants to know why and I don’t think I can keep lying to them.”
“Kelly I want your family to know but what if, what if they don’t accept it?”
“They will because you are what makes me happy.”
“We can’t.”
“What? Why?”
“Because I’m not ready for people to know yet especially not family. A couple of friends I can deal with, but family I’m not,” Carrie said removing herself from atop Kelly.
“I don’t get it why don’t you want to tell them?”
“Because I can’t tell my family, Kel.”
“How come?”
“Because they wouldn’t support us!”
“We don’t need them then.”
“I do!” Kelly started to get out of bed, “I’m sorry.” Kelly stood and turned and looked at Carrie.
“So what are you going to do? Say your single? Or am I going to be Keith or something when you talk about your significant other? Carrie I know it’s scary but I think my parents and yours will be behind us and if they aren’t we have each other right?”
“Kelly I’m not ready can we just talk about this tomorrow?”
Kelly hung her head, “Yeah.”
“Come back to bed.”
“I’m gonna go downstairs,” Kelly said making her way to the door.
“Kelly?” Carrie questioned.
“Night,” Kelly said walking out of the room and downstairs. Carrie got out of bed and followed.
“Kelly you have to understand,” Carrie said following Kelly down the stairs.
“Understand what?” Kelly said stopping at the bottom of the stairs. “That you’re embarrassed to be with me? That we can be together but only if it’s a secret? Yeah I understand completely!” Kelly said sarcastically continuing to walk to the living room.
“I’m not embarrassed! Why do you want to tell people now?! Please give me some time please? I love you!” Carrie pleaded tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry. I got a phone call from my mom while you were in the shower and she asked why I was so happy and I wanted to tell her so bad that you have made me so happy and I’m sorry.”
“Baby,” Carrie said wrapping her arms around Kelly. Kelly was hesitant at first but then relaxed into Carrie’s arms. “I love you, we can tell them,” Carrie whispered. Kelly lifted her head so she was able to look in Carrie’s eyes.
“Baby, I’m not going to force you to tell.”
“I know I want to I’m ready Kelly. I love you, I’m not ready for the world to know but I want our family to know.”
“Ok,” Kelly smiled brightly.
“How about we tell them after your tour is over? That way we can tell them in person. We can do it as soon as the tour is over. We can tell your family first than go tell mine. I love you.”
“I love you too. I’m sorry for acting the way I did.”
“It’s ok baby. Come on let’s go to bed,” Carrie took Kelly’s hands in hers pulling her back upstairs to the bedroom.
