Confrontations(Pt1)

Sav was sitting at the table, twirling his pen around in his fingers watching Joe. For 20 years he had done the same thing, watch him work on a song or a piece of music. Only now he could do it outright and not hide it from everyone, especially from Joe.

Joe was sitting on the floor cross-leg with a guitar in his lap, the notepad sitting on the table to his left. He would hum a few bars and then jot them down. Joe strummed the guitar and sang the words. Sav listened to them and frowned. Joe stopped and added a few more cords and words to sheet of paper.

“Where did you get the idea for that one?” Sav asked.

“You should know.” Joe told him without looking up.

Sav’s expression sobered, he glanced down at hands. “Yea I guess I do.” The song that Joe was writing reflected on his feeling of when Sav left him, broken and hurt, then filled with anger. Joe was adding one more piece to the puzzled to never let him forget what he had done to him.

Joe was playing the song again when Sav felt Nick’s presents in his mind, deep in the muddled shadows. Then screaming forward at an alarming rate. The pain in which Nick bombarded his mind made him dizzy. Sav gripped the edge of the table, closing his eyes against it, he sucked his breath in sharply.

'GET OUT!' Nick screamed through their bond. 'NOW!' he eased off, but remained present.

Sav regained his balance, then sent an resounding 'Why?!'

Nick stormed back in. 'GET OUT!'

Something wasn’t right, Nick wouldn’t be this strong. Sav abruptly stood from the table his gaze stopped on Joe. ‘They know what he’s….shit.’ Sav lunged for the roll top desk, throwing open the top he snatched the phone up and dialed the number. Nick was still sending strong message for them to get out now….no time….leave now.

“Get out of my head Nick!” Sav yelled out loud. “…..Scott!… yes… hurry up.”

Joe looked up at him when he yelled, then saw the phone he threw down, then almost running toward him, he snatched the guitar from him and threw it aside.

“You have to leave… now!” Sav said hurriedly, grabbing Joe under the arm and hauled him to his feet.

“Why…what’s going on? Is it Nick…you yelled at him and he’s not even here.”

“Yes…no…yes I did.”

”You’re not making any sense. Why do I have to leave?” Joe allowed Sav to drag him closer to the front door. Sav's fingers dug into the fleshy upper part of Joe’s arm to the point of pain. He yanked his arm away and Sav spun on him.

“What’s going on, you look….sound, scared…feel scared.”

“No time to explain Joe, now come on.” Sav reached for him again and he backed away.

“Tell me what’s wrong first?”

Sav held his head between his hands, and clinched his eyes tightly closed. Nick was screaming louder now. ‘GET OUT!!….THEY'RE CLOSER!!’

When Sav opened his eyes, it startled Joe to see that they were light amber. He rushed forward and grabbed Joe’s arm again. “Goddamnit Joe, for once in your life, do what your told.”

”And it still won't be this time…what the hell is going on?”

Scott burst threw the door with a few friends behind him. “I brought some help.”

“It won’t do any good.” Sav started. “Take Joe with you, hide him. I don’t want to know where your going, what your doing. Stay hidden until Nick or I contact you somehow. Keep him safe until one of us comes for him.”

“You're not going?” Scott asked. “But they’re after you too.”

Joe was looking from one to the other. “Who is they? What are you talking about?”

“I’m staying here…” his words trailed off and looked at Joe. “I will stall them as long as I can, should give you time to get to safety.”

Joe saw the fear in his eyes now. “Who is coming Rick? What do they want? Why do I have to hide, from who?”

‘GO NOW!!’ Nick’s urgency vibrated hard through the bond.

Sav pushed Joe towards Scott. “Take him…you have to go now.”

“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what is going on.” Joe was getting angry, he didn’t understand the situation and why he had to leave.

“You have to, for your own safety. I’m staying here to protect your life with my own, to keep them from coming after you I have to stay here.”

“What…no… I’m not leaving.”

Sav tore his eyes from Joe. “Scott please, take him, get out of here.”

Scott grabbed Joe’s arm and pulled him toward the door.

Joe yanked it away. “I’m not go…!”

Scott wrapped his arms around him in a bear hug. He was bigger and stronger than Joe and had no problem holding on to him. Dragging him outside, he was struggling to get away screaming at Scott to let him go.

“No…Sav don’t do this…come with me, don’t stay here.” Joe yelled and Sav didn’t move from where he was standing. “Goddamnit Rick don’t you leave me again.”

Sav was in front of him in seconds. Joe stopped his struggle and stared down at him. Sav caressed his cheek and leaned in to kiss him. His hand went around the back of Joe’s head and pulled him deeper into his mouth, kissing him with all the love and passion he could muster. Pulling away quickly his fangs sank in his neck, causing a sharp intake of breath from Joe. Sav knew he was wasting precious minutes, but he had to have one more taste before Scott took him a way.

Joe’s confused mind reeled in fear for what Sav was going to do to protect his life, but what about him? Was he going to die on this night? For what? Why? Joe searched his mind for him Sav wasn’t there. Fear gripped him, tightened in his stomach.

“Go.” Sav’s voice broke through his thoughts. Scott once again started moving.

“No…let me go!” Joe yelled and doubled his efforts to get free.  “Rick… don’t you fucking leave me… let go… don’t do this…please come with me...”

Sav turned his back on him and went inside, closing the door softly behind him. Leaning his head against the wood. He could still hear Joe’s pleas until it faded in the distance as Scott took him further away, flying high over the ground.

“Keep him safe Scott.” Sav whispered.

“Mr. Savage.” A deep voice came from behind him.

Sav spun around, slamming back against the door. His eyes darted amongst the five dark clad figures standing around the living room, hands clasped in front of them, blocking any attempt for him to flee. He felt the intense vibration in the room and knew that they were vampires, much older than Nick. 'No way I can’t take all five of them,' Sav thought. 'But I’ll go out with a fight.' He stood his ground as the one on his left and right started moving toward him.
