Bittersweet
Spoiled
They fell asleep like that, curled together on the bed in her office. Bam woke up sometime a few hours later. Lenny was pressed tightly against him, her arms still around his neck.
“Len? Helena? Babe, you gotta wake up. I need to piss.” He shook her. She whined somewhere in the back of her throat and b buried her face in his shoulder. Bam sighed.
“Come on, baby.” He slipped out of her grasp and went to use the bathroom. When he returned, she was sitting up.
“Can we talk?”
“I think we’d better.” He sat down next to her.
“It’s not that I don’t want to marry you, Bam, because I do. Really. But, you just never really asked me before hand what I wanted out my life. I mean---.” She stopped and shook her head.
“You’re right.” Bam said softly. Lenny almost fell off the bed. “I should have talked to you about it first.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring. Lenny was wearing a cheap necklace, a cross of some sort, and he reached over and unhooked this.
“How about we make a deal?”
“I’m listening.” She smiled coyly.
“You wear this ring around your neck and we’ll talk. And whenever you’ve decided that you’re ready for me to ask you again, you give it back to me, okay?”
“Ooh!” she grinned. “I still get to wear the pretty thing!”
“Women and jewelry.” Bam rolled his eyes.
“Men and sex.” Lenny countered, climbing up into his lap and pushing him down on his back.
“Now, I do believe I had a special present for you in mind, if you still want it.”
**
“When is he c coming?” Lenny demanded. She was sitting at the window, watching.
“As soon as he can, babe. The roads are slick.”
“I know that.” She pouted. “But I want him here now.”
“Sometimes I think I’ve spoiled you.” Bam sighed. Lenny stood up and put her hands on her hips.
“Who wakes me up in the middle of the night begging for sex?”
“That’s different!”
“And then who sits and there and keeps whining until I roll over and give in?” she raised an eyebrow.
“But---.” Bam tried.
“And when it’s over, who wakes me up first thing in the morning so I can go downstairs and get his breakfast all ready for him? Especially when he knows the sight of food in the morning grosses me out!” she tapped her foot against the floor.
“I do,” Bam mumbled.
“Right, so, you’re spoiled.”
“Yes dear,” she crinkled her nose in a laugh, and Bam grinned. Just as she bent to kiss him on the mouth, the door opened.
“Merry Christmas, kultas!”
“Ville!” Lenny launched herself at the Finn.
