Shopping Around

A/N: Okay, so my plot bunnies are on hyper mega strength crack it seems. Another chapter in the mass spree of updates. Enjoy! *hugs*

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Rebecca stood in the dressing room, debating between two dresses. She wasn’t sure which looked the best, and now that she and Patrick were officially a couple, she wanted their first real date to be something. Thus she needed the perfect dress. Not to mention, Pete had told her that she might be doing the announcing for the party. She peeked out of the dressing room door and caught Ivy standing around, looking completely out of place, as she had quickly chosen a dress that looked stunning on her from a retro store a few blocks away. Cat had gone to try to persuade Beth to at the very least try on some of the dresses.

“Ivy, can you come help? I have no idea which to choose.”

“Well put one on and get out her so I can see it.”

Rebecca laughed and closed the door to the dressing room again and pulled the first dress from the hanger. It was a dark crimson color that seemed to match her darker skin perfectly in a soft satiny finish. The dress dipped low in the front and back, flowing loosely down to the floor where it pooled a little, because of her height. She opened the door to the dressing room and walked out a little so Ivy could see the dress.

“Turn.”

Rebecca laughed and turned around like Ivy had said. She then turned back to look at her friend, who simply stood there with a blank face. It was a little infuriating sometimes. Because Ivy dabbled a little in fashion herself, she tended to have a stoic face when shopping (if she would even go), so you could never tell what she thought of something until she said something.

“Well? What do you think?”

“Let me see the other dress and then I’ll tell you.”

Rebecca laughed and walked back into the dressing room and stripped out of the red dress and hung it back up on the hanger before taking down the second dress. The second dress was the same type of fabric as the first one, only in a pale lilac that seemed to almost change color in a certain light. It was a much more modest dress in the styling of it, but still gorgeous. It was a spaghetti strap dress that had a corset lacing for the back of the dress which flowed out into a loose fuller skirt that actually stopped at the edge of the floor with just enough room to let her wear a small heel if she chose.

She walked out of the dressing room to where Ivy could get a good look of this dress as well. Before she could tell her to turn, she turned around in the dress, smiling at her friend. She sometimes could be infuriating. And shopping was one of them. Rebecca liked to look around and browse until something caught her eye. And when it did, she had a hard time deciding if it was a good choice or not. Ivy went into a store knowing what she wanted, and came out with precisely that, spending no more time in a store than absolutely necessary.

“Well? What do you think? Which one do you like best?”

“They’re both gorgeous. It just depends on how you want to appear tonight. The red dress is definitely a sexy dress that will say ‘jump me right now in the hallway’. The lilac one is a more demure dress that says ‘I’m sexy but old-fashioned’. So it all depends on your tastes for the night.”

When Ivy said old-fashioned, Rebecca giggled a little, remembering what Patrick had said earlier that morning. Well if he was going to be old-fashioned, and the lilac dress was old-fashioned, then the lilac it would be. Besides, the lilac dress wouldn’t need any last minute alterations.

“So, are you going to have every guy with eyes lusting over you, or are you just going to knock the socks off your boyfriend?”

Rebecca laughed at the smirk on Ivy’s face, having called her and giggled through most of the story of Patrick officially asking her out earlier that morning. She could tell that Ivy knew which dress she would be walking out of the store with, and nodded with a smirk.

“Of course the lilac is gorgeous, Bec. Besides, I don’t think Stumpy could care less what you’re wearing. He’s seen you in your pajamas, and in just your bra. And probably lusted after you both times.”

“Oh come off it, Ivy. Besides, you should know more than anyone else that I don’t do that sort of thing.”

“I think that Stumpy might have a different idea. But go for it, you’ve certainly dated worse. And who knows, if you had a little sex maybe you wouldn’t be so uptight and anxious so much. It’s a great stress reliever, you know.”

Rebecca laughed, shaking her head as she went back into the dressing room to change back into her jeans and tshirt, hanging the dress back up on the hanger. She came out of the dressing room, the lilac dress over one arm and the red one over the other.

“Let’s go hang this back up and see if we can find Beth and Cat. Hopefully Cat has managed to convince Beth just how much a dress is needed for tonight. Otherwise we might have to knock her out to get one.”
