Chapter 27

When she finally got in her car she gave into the overwhelming sense of loose that had been plaguing her. She hadn’t wanted to leave him. She wanted to stay forever with him but she knew that wasn’t possible. He had a wife to take care of him and she had a husband to take care of. She just had to get back to her normal everyday life and try to forget that she could talk to Jordan any time she pleased. The rain spattered her windshield as she made her way to the house. When she pulled up she took a steadying breath as she unlocked the door. She walked in and dropped her bag at the door. When she turned into the living room she stopped dead in her tracks. She blinked and shook her head. She couldn’t really be seeing this. Michael turned his head from the girl his was passionately kissing and stared at her.
“Sorry” she said backing out as her insides quivvered.
“Kristy” he called after her.
She snatched up her bag and ran back to her car.
Her mind was flooded with confused thoughts as she backed out of the driveway spraying gravel everywhere. Where was she going to go and what in the hell was she going to do?
As she drove the rain increased and pounded down on her windshield. She could barely see from the rain and the tears that flooded her eyes. She dialed Jordan’s number on her cell and prayed that he would pick up.
“Hey girl” he said and the sound of his accent made her emotions flood her head again.
“Jordan” her voice broke into a thousand pieces. He could hear the agony in her voice at once. His stomach jumped into his throat as he tried his best to remain calm.
“Kristy, sweetie, what’s wrong” he asked
“Michael…..I mean, he was……….well…… oh my god” she croaked out through sobs as she drove through the now pouring rain.
“Kristy what is” Jordan’s voice broke as he became scared and uneasy “has something happened?” he asked “What in the hell is wrong?” he asked again when she didn’t respond.
“He was kissing her, he was all over her” Kristy almost screamed in agonizing frustration.
Relief spread through him as he realized what was wrong.
“You saw him with someone else” he asked gently as he listened to her heaving sobs.
“In our house they were in our house” she spat through gritted teeth as anger replaced her grief.
“Where are you?” he asked softly
“Driving” she croaked out as the grief welled again. She was blankly staring at the wipers trying their best to clean the dirty windshield.
“Where are you going to go?” he asked in the steadying voice she needed to hear.
“Don’t know, don’t care” she said wildly as she increased her speed down the road.
“Do you want me to come and get you?” He asked tentatively
She almost slammed on brakes in the middle of the road.
“What?” she stammered
“Do you want me to come and get you?” he asked again loosing confidence
“I…well…..” she paused not really knowing what to do or say. She felt the need rise in her. The need to be with him, to have him hold her. She had no where else to go except England and she wasn’t even sure she had her passport with her. She sighed as the tears began again.
“To be totally honest, yes. Yes I want you to come get me” she said trying her best not to sob.
“Ok, well we were fixing to head out to Florida so I will change the plans” he said with anticipation “I will try to be there as quick as I can”
“Please hurry” she squeaked out
He smiled with excitement as he sensed the need in her voice. “I am going to get there as soon as the airplane will let me” he said trying to comfort her.
“Ok” she said bleakly
“I will call you once I know what time we will get to Charleston” he said in an attempt to reassure her.
“Ok” he heard again
“Kristy are you going to be alright” he asked with concern
“No” she heaved out
“Listen, just let me get these plans changed and I will call you back ok?” he said quickly “Just give me a minute” he added when she didn’t answer.
“Just hurry” she added before he hung up the phone.
