CHAPTER THREE
Justin and Jaden walked down the street in silence, listening to the boys as they talked about a new toy that just came out in stores; all the while giving their dad a pointed look when mentioning all the cool features that it had. They walked for a few more minutes until they reached a dead end with a few shops. "Well this is it." Jaden said when they stopped in front of a shop with a sign over the door that read: The Coffee Shoppe. "Hmm...how original." Justin commented with a smile.
Jaden looked at the sign above them and said, "Yeah, I thought so too." Then he turned to Justin and said with a grin, "Shall we?"
Justin nodded and then went inside when Jaden held the door open for him. “Thanks.”
“Go on boys.” He put Toby down and let him go through with his brothers. “Usual table guys!”
“Ok!” They giggled and ran to a booth over in the left corner of the small shop.
Jaden smiled at Justin and put his right hand on the small of his back, “This way.” They sat across from each other. The boys sitting with their dad…at least until Toby crawled under the table to sit with Justin and sit by the window.
“Toby! Don’t crawl under the table boy!” He shook his head at his son. “What am I gonna do with you?” He smiled at his son and turned to Justin about to say something but he was interrupted.
“Jaden!” He turned to look at the waitress. She was an old lady with warm blue eyes, curly white hair, and wrinkles.
“Mrs. Lakes! I didn’t know you were working today. Where’s Beth?”
“Oh she’s coming out. We’re the only two here today. I just came out to say hello.”
“OH.MY.GOD!!!”
“Justin jumped out of the booth startled and looked at the girl. Beth apparently; she was in a uniform.
He thought quickly and got an idea. “Beth! It’s so good to see you! I had no idea that you worked here.” Justin hugged her and whispered in her ear, “please do not freak out ok? Just go with it.”
She nodded when he pulled away. “Justin, long time no see.” She smiled as he sat back down next to a giggling Toby. He looked at him and then at the other two who were giggling as well. Justin sighed. They knew who he was and he realized that it was only a matter of time before they slipped and said something. He didn’t like lying anyway. It was time to let out his secret. Again. Only this time it seemed that it was a different secret than before. He looked over at Jaden and then at the ladies. “Could you excuse us for a moment?” They nodded and left. “Jaden…let me explain what just happened there: first of all my last name is ‘Timberlake’ and it seems that Beth is a fan—”
“Of what?” Jaden interrupted.
“Of my music.”
“Oh. So you’re in a band then.” He smiled. “What’s it called?”
“Ah…NSYNC.”
“That’s a cool name. You guys any good?” He looked confused when the boys started laughing loudly. “What?”
Justin smiled, “you don’t know the half of it.” He looked around and spotted a TV over at the counter. “Beth, could you turn that on channel eight please?” She nodded and turned the news on. It showed a big house and about fifty reporters outside the gates. “Looks like I left the house just in time.” He muttered. “That’s the house I was able to afford from the paycheck that I got for being a part of the band.”
“And the reporters?”
“They’re there because of a statement that I made on national TV last night at a press conference. I’m surprised that you haven’t heard about it.”
Jaden shrugged. “So you’re famous then?”
Justin nodded.
“Well we all have our faults I guess.” Jaden smiled.
“It doesn’t bother you then?”
“Nah. What was the statement that you made?”
“Oh, I kinda told the world that I’m gay.”
Jaden raised a brow. “Was that what the conference was for?”
“Ah, no. It was for an upcoming concert that we had to cancel for some reason or another. I wasn’t listening. Anyway, I just got tired of holding it in so I just kind of let it out.” He grinned. “It was kinda fun.”
Jaden laughed. “I bet it felt good to finally get it off your chest then.”
“You have no idea.” Just was relieved. Jaden seemed to not really care that he was famous or anything. felt really good.
