chapter three
Kelly's pov.
Kelly tip toed around the kitchen, trying her best to to make her mother aware she was still awake. She had to sit through a dinner with her mother while all the older woman could do was bad mouth Carrie. Didn't really matter that Kelly was agreeing with most of what her mother was saying, but when someone else said things like that about Carrie, kelly's first thought was to protect the taller blond. It was her job to bad mouth her wife, no one else's. Kelly knew that was a twisted way of thinking about it but she couldn't help it.
Taking another look at the clock Kelly let out a sigh, two am and she still wasn't home. The time was getting later and later, soon she wouldn't be home at all. Kelly thought about the tour Carrie was about to start, it would be the first one in five years without Kelly going with her. The year they started dating they had made a promise to each other to always go on tour with the other when they could but after the disaster of Kelly's latest tour they had decided Carrie would do this one alone. It was another sign that things wouldn't be going as planned in the future.
The bed looked so big, Kelly had tried buying more pillows to fill it but the space Carrie left just didn't seem replaceable. Grabbing the night shirt from under Carrie's pillow Kelly stripped. She never understood why an old shirt that should have been throw out years ago was the only thing that made her comfortable.
Carrie's pov.
Another late night, Carrie didn't know how many more of them she could take. The record label were really making her work for this album. They had promised her more control after the last one but as soon as they started she could see the men in the room taking over. It was times like that Carrie would have loved Kelly right there with her, She always knew how to stand up for Carrie when Carrie couldn't do it herself.
She pulled into the drive way noticing right away that Jeanne was in her space again. She swore the woman done it one purpose. Jeanne stood at her bedroom window looking down at the blond, Carrie tried to wave but Jeanne shook her head before closing the curtains. Another nice visit Carrie thought as she entered the dark house. The bedroom door was closed she could see the lights on from under it. A guilty feeling came over her, two thirty and Kelly was still awake. She thought about going in just laying down in bed and pretending their marriage wasn't in trouble but she didnt think she could take that look Kelly was giving her. More and more these days Kelly would look at her like she didn't know her, like a stranger was standing in front of her. It broke her heart to see that.
It was the first thing she saw walking into the office, it was like her eyes were drawing to it. Carrie felt sick her heart beginning to beat faster and faster as she walked towards the bed. It wasn't supposed to be there, it belonged in their bedroom, it belonged to Kelly. It didn't belong there. Grabbing it from the bed Carrie barged into Kelly not even bothering to knock.
'Your home.....' Kelly sat on the bed her laptop In front of her.
'Why?....' Carrie held up the object in her hand.
'What...why what?'
'Why did you put this in my office....it doesn't belong there.......it belongs here. 'Carrie walked to the middle of the room.
'What the hells your problem........it's just a teddy bear...I thought it would brighten up the office......' Carrie stood in front of the bed shaking her head.
'That not it and you know it......it's yours.........'
'It's an old bear....'Kelly said raising herself up from the bed.
'It was a gift......'
'Fine I'll take it back.' Kelly grabbed the teddy from Carrie's hands before throwing it in the corner of the room. Carrie's eyes followed it watching as it bounced off the wall before slumping to the floor.
'You probably dont even remember how you got it.....' Carrie saw a smirk forming on her wife's face.
'Actually I do.....'
flashback.
Kelly looked at the line in front of her, it seemed to go on for miles. They had promised her no more big meet and greets, she hated turning kids away when they were in the middle of conversations just cause she was holding up the line. The noise from the nights concert was still buzzing in her ears as the line filed into the room.
'You promised...' Kelly turned to her brother.
'They promised...i just passed on the message....just try to get them moving faster...' Kelly shook her head, she knew she would never be able to move the line along, she had to have a conversation with each and every person there.
As the line began moving Kelly had collected a large collection of gifts that Jason was now trying his hardest to keep from falling off the small table behind them.
'Next time we bring a our own table....' Jason complained as Kelly turned back to the little girl who was making her way towards her.
'Hey honey...what's your name..' the little girl had to be about six.
'Im Hannah...and that's Carrie..' The little pointed towards the lady standing a few feet behind.
'Carrie?.....as in underwood?' The little girl nodded as Carrie stood forward sliding her sunglasses down her nose.
'Hi...im carrie.....' Kelly could only smile as she shook the blonds hand.
'Kelly ...and really bad disguise you got there....'
'Fooled you....you looked right at me three times during the concert .' Kelly laughed.
' I was just wondering who the woman in the bad disguise was.....' Kelly shrugged causing Carrie to laugh. The truth was Kelly had noticed the blond from the start of the concert, she'd even made her forget a few lines in her songs.
'Well next time ill try harder.....'
'Next time call me up....i can get you better seats.' Kelly watched the small girl beside Carrie begin to get bored as she pulled on Carrie's arm.
'Yea well I better go....but hey...i brought you this....seemed pretty pointless now....' Carrie handed Kelly a white bear.
'He's wearing a AC/DC T-shirt......' Kelly held up the bear to show Jason.
'Yea I heard you were a fan......'
End of flashback.
That wasn't the last time Carrie stood in line at a meet and great just to see the blond texan and every time she brought alone another poor kid who had to standing listening to the two blonds try to flirt. In the end Jason made Kelly and Carrie swap phone numbers and told the country singer if he saw her anywhere near another meet and great he would ban her from the concerts.
...........................................
Carrie stood looking at her wife.
'Your wearing my t-shirt.....' She pointed out.
'And?..'
'And I was looking for it......' Carrie was still angry about her throwing the teddy.
'Well im wearing it......'Kelly walked towards the dresser to pull out another shirt. ' here....'
'I don't want that one....you know I always wear that one.......' Kelly shook her head.
'Fine....here take it....' In one quick movement Kelly pulled the shirt off her body and threw it at Carrie's feet. ' Happy now?' Carrie stood opened mouthed as Kelly stood naked in front of her. The shorter blond didn't seem to might Carrie's eyes fixed on her.
'Keep it....' Carrie picked the shirt up off the floor handing it back to Kelly. Her eyes couldn't leave her wifes body, it had been a while since she had seen her like this.
'No no....it's yours......' Kelly walked closer. ' What's wrong?...your other woman not let you see her completely naked until the lights are out?...' Carrie took a few seconds to realise Kelly was talking.
'What....' her eyes moved upwards towards her face.
'Are we alike?...her and me.....what she like.....this woman youve been sleeping with....what she like....' Carrie held onto Kelly's arm pulling her towards the mirror.
'Like that.........the only woman ive sleep with in five years....' Carrie walked out she didn't wait for a sarcastic comment back from the Texan.
'Kelly's pov.
She knew she had been too hard on Carrie, sometimes she just didn't know when to stop. Picking up the shirt she slide it back over her body loving the warm feeling it gave her. She didnt want to admit it but the real reason she liked the shirt so much was it's smell, It smelt of Carrie. Her computer caught her eyes from the bed, the little white box popping up.

Kelly lay back on the bed.
Tx101- (Up late?)

Kelly bit her lip, she hadn't want to tell this complete stranger she was married to a woman so when the stranger asked about a husband Kelly just went along with it.

Flashback.
'Never again.....' Carrie stood shaking at the front door of the cabin. 'next time you want something from the car get it yourself.....nearly fell in all that snow.' Carrie shook off the snow from her jacket as Kelly lay back against the sofa.
They had decided to run away from everything for a few days, they had found themselves at Kelly's cabin. A few hours after getting there they were snowed in.
'Stop complaining.......i gave you my gloves....'
'Yea like they helped.....im still shivering like a leaf.' Kelly sat up from the sofa giving her wife an odd look.
'Shivering like a leaf?.....who says that?' Carrie threw herself down next to her wife.
'Me....'
'But it's shaking like a leaf.......' Carrie shrugged.
'I like to be different..'
End of flashback.

Carrie's pov.
Carrie stayed sitting at the computer screen long after her chat with Lonelywife ended. She hadnt told the stranger on the chatroom much about her life, just that she was in a relationship and it was complicated. She had also told her she was a painter, which now was making her feel a little guilty about lying but at the start it was just a little fun. She had only went onto the chat room in the studio to keep herself from boredom.
The bed creaked as she climbed into it, she didnt know how many more nights her body could take of it. Just as she was about to close her eyes something on the wall in front of her made her sit up. Her eyes began to tear up as she got out of bed. Carrie looked at the picture on the wall, she remembered that exact moment, she remembered it like it was yesterday. Taking it from the wall Carrie climbed back into bed.
Carrie had been visiting Kelly in the studio, her album was just getting started. They hadn't only been dating a month when it was taken. Kelly had been In the studio for three days solid without leaving, and having not brought along an fresh clothes she had spend most of day three running around in a pair of producers tracksuit bottoms. When Carrie saw her they were rolled up three times at the waist just so they would fit her legs. Carrie had pulled out her camera begging someone to take a picture of them. So while Carrie sat on the sofa Kelly sat on her knee posing with their heads together. It was the moment Carrie knew she loved Kelly. Carrie lay the picture beside her in bed as her mind captured onto more memories of that day.
