Savior

Chapter Four

Oriana paused by the deck railing, getting her first breath of salty sea air alone in the last few hours. It must have been well after midnight by that point, and everyone except for her, Orli, Micah, and Orli's friend Francis weren't drunk. Beth had retired and another one of Orli's friends, Jason had soon sought his room as well. It looked like Jade and Marcus were hitting it off rather well and Elijah was practically wrapped around Jessica.

It was so much fun.

So why did Oriana feel the need to be alone? She was on this vacation to party and to see her friends and enjoy life. And she wanted to be alone and to breathe in deep the air around her. As someone approached her from behind, she smiled. No, she didn't want to be alone. She wanted to be with him.

Orly turned, finding Orlando a few feet away, but well within her personal bubble. It didn't bother her in the least. On more than one occasion, Orly had found herself at the back of a bar or the edge of a dance floor, standing by Orlando. It didn't seem planned. It just happened.

And finding him standing right behind her made her heart race. She had wanted to talk with him alone since she'd stood up in front of him.

"Would you like to chat, since it seems our group seems to have forgotten us?" He motioned toward the direction their group had gone, and she saw that they were out of sight. She smiled and nodded as he took her hand and led her to one of the pavilions with beach chairs set out.

They picked a couple and took a seat.

From their vantage point, on deck 15, they were as far up as passengers were allowed to go. Most of the light from the dock and from the city was dulled and the stars were clear in the sky.

"So, who are you, really?"

Orly looked at Orlando a bit surprised. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, what are you? What do you do? Are you seeing anyone? What's your family like? You know, everything." They both chuckled a little, and sat in silence before Oriana took a deep breath and sighed.

"My name is Oriana Cockney. I'm Egyptian, if you hadn't guessed." She twirled a small lock of her wavy black hair around her finger. "My cousin is on this boat. Shannon is related to me through my mother and her father. We don't look a thing alike, but we have the same sense of humor. My parents both live in England, where they 'vacation'. I don't know if I would call England a vacation-"

Orlando interrupted with an undignified snort that was more in jest than anything. "I happen to enjoy England."

Orly laughed. "Yeah, it's all right. But, a vacation is hot and full of warm beaches and such. Like this cruise."

She stopped, drifting off a little bit as she thought about her parents and their home in Whales.

"What do you do for a living Oriana Cockney? With your looks and poise, I'd guess model right away, but you're too reserved to be a model."

"I did model once or twice in college, but that was it. I'm a writer. For a magazine."

"Wow. Well, I've been in magazines, so I guess I sort of understand."

Oriana looked over at him, seeing the familiar profile that she had mesmerized a few years ago on the big screen, but had just come to mesmerize in 3-D a few hoursor. or. He was quite handsome. "Yeah, you've been in plenty of magazines, but I don't write for that kind."

He looked at her, a little surprised. Of course he was surprised. She hadn't given any indication that she realized who he was. To her, he was just another man. "I write for a parenting magazine."

She wasn't prepared for the look of soft affection that came over his face. Blushing, she looked down. But, he reached across the gap in the chairs and pulled her chin back up. "That's wonderful. I've never met a writer who didn't want to drill me with questions the second they figured out who I am."

She smiled. "What you do for a living isn't who you are a person. It's just your job."

He was so pleased with her answer that instead of saying something, he kissed her. Sweetly, and softly, he claimed her lips and just tasted her before pulling away. She followed his lips for a fraction of a second before pulling back again. His gentle 'peck' had managed to pull all of her sexual need out into the open. And she was extremely turned on.

Feeling it best to leave that idea alone, though the thought of kissing and making love with that man was the best idea she'd had all night, she stood quickly. "I should go. It's late and I have a yoga class at nine today." He tried to stop her, but she turned and quickly walked away before he could really protest.

Back in her cabin, she leaned against the door and touched her lips. She may have found the person to heal the scars from her sexual past.
