“Cut!” James heard Joss cry.
He was coming over to talk to them.
“Er… guys…”
“What was wrong this time?” David asked.
“Still not hot enough?” James asked.
“Er… no…” Joss mumbled. “Too hot. We’ll never get that on air. You’ll have to tone it down. Go back to how you were doing it in take 3 but with the same facial expressions as take 4, James, and less grunting from you, David.”
Joss had been right. This wasn’t the least bit arousing. In fact, James was getting really bored with the whole thing and looking forward to going home and pigging out on pizza in front of the TV. How much longer were they gonna be?

“Cut!” Joss said. “Let’s call it a wrap, everybody. Go home. See you in the morning.”
At last! James had begun to think they’d never be finished. He slipped on the robe someone was handing to him and headed for his trailer. He felt dirty. He needed a shower to wash off the eye-tracks left by the crew who’d been ogling his body all afternoon. At least he’d like to think they’d been ogling him but he knew in reality it was probably David they’d all been looking at. People seldom gave him a second glance. He doubted anyone would be waiting at the studio gates for his autograph but David always had his own band of admirers lined up outside waiting for him. He had to admit to being a little envious of David’s popularity. David was very gracious about it though and never flaunted it. In fact, James wasn’t even sure David realised just how hot the girls thought he was. Unlike James, who’d never been able to get a date in high school, David had always had girls coming on to him wherever he went. He must be used to it by now. It was just part of life as far as he was concerned. Being asked for an autograph was still a novelty for James whereas for David it was becoming something of a chore.
Having showered and dressed in jeans and t-shirt James headed for the parking lot. David was waiting by his car. Shit! He’d forgotten all about the invitation to hook-up later. Did David think they had a date?
“Hi!” David said, smiling at him. “I’m in the mood for Italian. There’s a great place not far from here. I wondered if you’d like to have dinner with me?”
James was tired. He’d just wanted to go home but seeing David standing there in tight jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket looking vaguely reminiscent of James Dean caused him to rethink. It also caused a stirring in his pants but he didn’t want to think about that right now.
“Just dinner. No strings. But if you have plans…”
David had misinterpreted his hesitancy.
“No, no plans,” James said, hurriedly, before David had a chance to retract the offer. He then instantly regretted it. He didn’t want to sound too eager. “I was gonna get pizza on the way home and veg out in front of the TV.”
“Okay, maybe some other time then,” David replied. He was walking away.
James realised he didn’t want to go home alone, not tonight.
“You’re welcome to join me,” he called after David.
