Chapter 4

His cell phone chirped once then again jerking him out of his comatose sleep. He turned to gather Kristy up in his arms and was shocked to find the bed empty. His cell phone chirped angrily again from the dresser and he looked around in complete confusion. Where the hell was she? It took him a minute to notice his room. Everything was organized and ready to go. He laughed to himself. He definitely could not figure this girl out. She had apparently crawled out of his bed, cleaned up his room and left. Normally he would be glad to be relieved of the awkward conversation that would have to follow a night like they just had but now he almost felt empty. Did she not feel any emotion at all last night? Was he just kidding himself? The cell chirped again almost demanding his attention he hauled himself protestantly out of the bed and snatched it up, silencing the alarm. He could hear the TV from next door come on and he knew that Chad was awake. He jumped into the shower and threw on an outfit from his now organized suitcase. Grabbing up everything and depositing it in his pockets he walked outside into the dismal early morning. The sun was not even up yet but he could see the haze of pink creeping across the sky. He saw Bubba walking over to him with his bag on his shoulder.
"the man himself is awake and ready to go for a change" Bubba said with a laugh as he walked up
"yeah I guess...." He looked down sheepishly "I guess my power nap was just the ticket" he finished and couldn't suppress the laugh.
"124" Bubba said to the silence
"what?" Jordan said not catching his meaning. Not sleeping was a bitch, he thought rubbing at his eyes.
Bubba laughed and said "124" again in a please wake up tone
"Oh really?" Jordan said jerking his head up, now he got it.
"Thanks man, I will be right back" he said as he dropped his duffle beside his bags and jogged off toward the stairs.
When he got to the door with 124 on it he took a deep breath. He reached up to knock and stopped himself. What the hell was he doing? She was going to think he was a freak. He couldn't help that something inside him just couldn't let this go. He raised his hand again and this time he found the courage to knock

The knocking on her door jolted her out of her restless sleep. Confused she rolled over and checked her watch. 5:45. Who the hell is that, she thought as she staggered out of bed and over to the door.
When she opened it the sight absolutely floored her. There stood Jordan all sleepy eyed and wrinkled.
"Hey girl" he said brightly
"Hey yourself" she said as she propped open the door. He walked in and looked around awkwardly
"Sorry if I woke you up" he said shyly.
"Oh that's ok" she said walking over to sit on the bed. "It's only fair" she finished through a big yawn.
He laughed and sat down beside her. Why was this so damn awkward he thought frustratedly. He suddenly felt like he was 15 again.
"So you already to go" she said patting his leg "Got everything that you need" she added with a playful nudge at his shoulder
"thanks to you" he said nudging her back.
"well I have heard some rumors...." She started
"Oh shut it" he said pushing at her "I am not a child you know"
"Well men never do really grow up" she said giggling.
He tiredly dropped his head in his hands.
"Thanks for doing that anyway" he said quietly to the floor
"You are welcome" she said back reaching up to rub his arm.
He saw something glint on the thread bare carpet and he leaned over to pick it up. Straightening he raised the necklace in the air.
"Hey were did you find that?" she said leaning over to grab it.
He nudged her away "looks like a necklace" he said holding it by the chain "a broken one at that" he finished with the two split ends in the air.
"Oh shit" she said taking the necklace from him "I loved that one" she frowned and tossed it onto the night stand.
"what was it" Jordan asked as he eyed it
"oh it was just a cheapo silver lower case K" she said as she layed on the bed "You know those trendy initial necklaces" she finished gesturing absently in the air.
"Ok" he said curiously as he laid down beside her.
She sighed and swiped at her sleepy eyes again.
He raised up on an elbow
"Why did you leave" he said flatly
Surprised by his question she laughed nervously. She didn't quite know ho to put it into words.
"well........." she paused to meet his eyes "I just thought it would be easier"
"What?" he was almost offended "is that what you think I am like, just have sex with a girl and then kick her out in the morning with out some much as a goodbye" He finished in a you gotta be kidding me tone of voice.
She raised up on an elbow to face him "That's just it, I don't know what you are like"
Well that was the truth, he thought absently. How were they going to fix that.
"well I guess you are right" he said with a smile "I guess the challenge now is trying to fix that"
"what?" she said confused. Where was he going with this conversation.
"I am sorry that I have to leave like this so soon" he said glancing at his watch. The time seemed to just fly by.
"where is your phone?" he said to her "I will give you my number and you can call me?"
Confused beyond her tiredness she got up heavily and fished her phone out of her purse and walked back over to him.
He said the numbers out loud
"Is this really your number?" she said not really believing what was happening
"Yeah it is, why don't you call it?" he said smiling at her
She pressed dial and his phone lit up.
He grinned as he silenced it "see now I have your number" he finished with a devilish laugh.
"hey that was dirty" she said amused. But she liked the fact that he went out of his way just to get it.
They sat in silence and just looked at each other, searching each others face.
He reached out and rubbed her face and she sighed. He just couldn't help himself. He leaned in and kissed her.
She adjusted her position so she could move closer to him and deepen the kiss. His hands started to wander and she could feel the warmth rising in her middle again so she was glad when the knock echoed at her door.
She jumped up to answer it and heard him whisper damn it behind her back.
Bubba stood there smiling hugely in the dawning sun.
"I have come for my boy" he said chuckling
"well he is right here" she said gesturing over to him
"so did you get any sleep last night" he asked her curiously
"a little" she grinned at him "Thanks for replenishing my habits" she said gesturing to the table where the cigerattes lay.
"any time glad to do it" he said looking over to Jordan
"we need to get rolling before we miss the plane" he said with a nod
"Right there" Jordan said walking over to them
"you better call me when you get home" Bubba said with a squeeze of her arm
"I will I promise" she said with a laugh.
She watched him walk off to the waiting SUV in the parking lot.
Jordan grabbed her hips and pulled her toward him
"You better call me too" he said as he leaned in to kiss her again
"I will" she said as she sighed after the soft kiss
She watched him walk off to the SUV and climb in.
When she closed the door she sighed and the tears welled in her eyes again.
As Jordan got into the SUV he reached in his jeans pocket and fished out the small silver K that he had taken off the night stand. He sighed to himself. I hope this doesn't make me a freak he said to himself as he kissed it and slid in beside Chad.

The tears kept falling after she laid her head on the stingy pillow. What was she going to do? She had cheated on her husband with Jordan Knight. Essentially she had commited the ultimate sin by fulfilling her greatest fantasy. She lay there looking at the ceiling as the tears trailed out of her eyes and through her hair as the waves of emotions pushed through her. She didn't know what was going to happen, how can someone ever be prepared for something like this? She should even call him? Probably not, he was just saying that for good form, how could he ever be interested in someone like her? She reached up and smacked herself on the head. What the fuck was she thinking, she was married, she shouldn't even be worried if he was into her or not. She should really be concerned with what she was going to tell her husband. Nothing was probably the best bet. It wasn't like she was ever going to see Jordan again, so she would just keep her mouth shut and torcher herself mentally forever. Hoping to go back to sleep she covered herself up with the ratty comforter and reached to turn off the lamp. She didn't even notice her necklace was gone.
