Fateful Trip
Aftermath
I laid on the floor in a ball crying next to the tall man. When he got me upstairs, I did everything to fight him off. He turned his back for just a second and I pushed him over the couch. I ran over to the desk and found a gun in the top drawer. I shot. I shot him straight through the heart. The room was sound proof so no one knew what was going on upstairs and I knew nothing of the rescue downstairs.
The silent alarm had notified the police and in a matter of minutes the men were apprehended. The man who I helped was grateful taken to the hospital. As soon as it was clear, Orlando jumped out of the booth and raced up the stairs. He did not know what he would find. A police office went in first with his gun ready for the worst. I heard the door open and I cowered in the corner. I saw the police office and finally let out a breath. Then I saw him … Orlando. When our eyes met, I cried hysterically. He ran over to me and hugged me tight. The police officer was talking to me but I could not control my sobs. “Love, are you hurt. Did he hurt you?” Orlando asked with such loving concern. The police officer surveyed the scene. “Looks like he didn’t have a chance. You are a lucky lady.” Orlando hugged me tighter. We sat there in each other arms. I needed to feel his strength and he needed to know I was ok.
He helped me walk down the stairs and I was greeted by Angie. She threw her arms around me. “Kat are you ok?” Orlando nodded to A. “She is ok. Thanks to Johnny’s gun in the desk.” Johnny approached us. “I can never thank you enough for what you did.” I let out a small smile. “You’re welcome Johnny.” I felt my head spinning and then the room went black. I fell back into Orlando’s waiting arms.
