Flashback
I had been dating Frank for around a month before I met his friends, although I felt like a knew them already from the amount he talked about them.
"Gerard he just has this infectious laugh, it's just crazy, and Ray he can tell you ANYTHING about guitar...he's just a genius, and Mikey..."
"I've heard all this before babe," I laughed. I'd travelled to Belleville, New Jersey with Frank on his much needed break from touring and the first order of the day was for me too meet the legendary My Chemical Romance. We were walking towards Gerard and Mikey's house, through the cold, uneven streets of Belleville. It was different to what I was used too having grown up in a tiny village.
"You'll be fine...they'll love you," he assured me, pulling me into a tight hug when we reached the house painted white, seemingly innocent.
"How can you be so confident?" I said, screwing my face up.
"Because I love you...they'll love you too." He'd never said that before but I wasn't caught off guard. I loved him too. What else was I supposed too feel?
A young skinny guy with glasses and blonde hair answered the door, a wide grin on his face. "You must be Sarah," he said, in that New Jersey drawl that I always associated with Frank.
"I guess you're Mikey," I replied, Frank had described him so many times.
"Come on in. Ray and Bob aren't here yet, but Gerard is cooking lunch." Mikey said openign the door wider and leading us into the cluttered and dimly lit living room.
"Oh no...what's he cooking?" Frank said, a worried look etched on his face.
"Well I say cooking...he's just done this salad thing. I advised him against using the cooker," Mikey laughed.
"I heard that," I heard a voice shout from the other end of the room. It was a different voice, I was intrigued to see the face that owned it.
"You were supposed too," Mikey replied to his brother.
"Hey. Just because I'm not in there doesn't mean you can insult me." A face popped around the corner of the doorway. Shortly followed by a body. I saw that smile, an extended hand, that voice again. "Good to finally meet you Sarah," he said.
"You too," I said croakily. He was everthing I wanted from that point on. It all sounds so contrived, so lustful, so sinful, so selfish...but as someone famous once said, 'You can't help who you fall in love with.'
