Was It Worth It?
Something Else...
Okay next chappy. Hope
you guys like it. If you don’t understand anything in it or have suggestions or anything like that, let me know via review.
“Hello Bob.” The blonde snapped his head round to look at me. “Oh no. No, no, no. Not again!” He tried to run to the door of his apartment but I blocked off his only exit. He looked at me with eyes as wide as saucers. “Now, now Bob. You’re not acting very pleased to see me. That’s not very hospitable.”
“I’m not dying today. I refuse. My life’s good now. I can’t loose everything I have now.”
“Relax...I’m not here to collect you...I’m here for information...”
Bob seemed to relax at this and leisurely walked back to the sofa, pulling a cigarette and a lighter from his pocket. “Oh, well that...is a totally different story. Please. Have a seat.”
He sparked up as I sat in the chair opposite him. “Those things will be the death of you, you know.” I said as he took his first drag. He immediately choked on the smoke, looking worriedly at me. “It’s a figure of speech Bob. Geez! What’s got you so worked up today?”
“Oh I dunno. Maybe the fact that Death is in my home!!”
I sighed. “Fine, just tell me what I need to know and then I’ll leave.”
“Alright, who’s the victim and how did they die?”
“That’s the problem. They didn’t.”
Bob raised an eyebrow at me before bringing his cigarette to his lips again. “You what?”
“I took a soul today. However, he didn’t stay with me. He went back into his body when his brother resuscitated him.” Bob frowned at me. “Hmm, I’ll grant you that is weird.”
“It gets more complicated though. The soul I took was a substitute, for his brother. Don’t ask me how he knew to call me but he did...this guy was working some serious magicks.”
“Hmm...okay, so who was the victim?” He raised his cig to his lips once more.
“Gerard Way.” Bob choked on the smoke for the second time during that visit. “I take it you two are acquainted.”
“Yeah...we’re...we’re band mates. Gerard...Gerard died?!”
“Well that’s my problem. He’s still breathing.”
Bob got to his feet and went to the door, grabbing his coat off the hook. “I gotta go to the hospital and see him. God, poor Mikey is probably a wreck.”
“BOB! I need answers! What could have caused this?!” Bob sighed glancing at me as he was exiting the flat. “The only way I know of is magic, but major stuff, blood and all that dark shit. Let yourself out.” With that he was gone. Dark magic huh? Looks like I’d have to do a little tracking spell.
***
I opened my eyes and looked around me. It was very dark. This is where my track’s spell had taken me and they were rarely wrong so...
I could see I was in a room so I found the wall and felt for a light switch. Once found I clicked it on. The room was immediately illuminated. I was in Gerard’s basement.
“What the...?” I whispered to no-one in particular. This is where the dark magic originated...
***
I stormed through the wall into Gerard’s hospital room. “w:st="on">Gerard Way!” Gerard gave a small yell of surprise.
“Wha...what do you want?”
“You made a fool out of me! Don’t you know to never try and cheat death Gerard! Really not smart!” I held my hand out in front of me once more.
“Wait!” He yelled and I took a short pause. “I didn’t do anything! I swear! It wasn’t me!”
“Then who was it Gerard? Who brought you back?”
“I...I don’t know...” I frowned angrily at him. “Well was it Mikey?”
“No! Not Mikey! No! Something...something else...”
I sighed deeply before giving him a frustrated look. “You’re not making any sense Gerard, and to be honest you’re getting on my very last nerve.”
“I don’t know what to tell you! I don’t know its name! It’s just there, has been ever since I started practicing magic...just like a voice in the back of my heard...like the anti-conscience I guess you could call it...”
“Hmmm...I’ll look into it, but if I find out you’re lying to me Gerard...” I left the sentence hanging before walking back through the wall and on to my next charge of the day.
So what did you guys think? Drop me a line to tell me. Just press the button. Go on...you know you want to...
