Chapter 4: Sorrow
"I'll eat your sorrow..."
"What do I think?" blinked the vocalist in puzzlement.
"What do you think about the band? Kisaki? Us?"
"It's..." Asagi, munching on a small bite of rice and chicken, thought of the practice sessions they had done together. Of the complex talks they had about costumes, marketing and fan service. Of the vocal lessons he was now taking. Of Kisaki's lips on his in the costume room three days before.... The sex... "It's... very new in some ways..." Asagi admitted finally. "But some things are familiar... like the practice sessions..."
"Good... that's good. I'm glad you're settling in okay." Ruiza grinned. Asagi smiled back tentatively, reaching for his drink. "When you start in a new band - for some, it's like making a new family. Or being adopted by a new family, in your case. And you wonder how long it will take before you'll know everyone so familiarly - when it will be like as if they share the same skin with you -" Ruiza's spiel halted suddenly as Asagi choked on his soda pop, leaning away to sputter into a napkin. "Oh! Are you okay?"
"No. I'm good! I'm good!" Asagi coughed again, feeling the drink burn in his Sinuses and lungs. "I breathed it - instead of drank it..." Ruiza nodded sympathetically. "I do that sometimes too." Asagi applied himself to more rice, hoping the conversation would change to something more relaxing like the weather or the roads. No such luck. "But - there are things about each band that people should not know."
"People?"
"Outsiders."
"Ah."
"Like... warnings..." Ruiza said vaguely, glaring down at some rice.
"Warnings?"
"About Kisaki-sama."
"Oh. Yes..." Asagi also suddenly found his rice very interesting.
"You see. He's a person who is going places. He's done very well - and he's had lots of experience - and he's smart. And he's powerful. And he's not like you at all."
"Ah..."
"And so... he might try to get you to do things his way - and not the way you feel comfortable doing things... Or he might try to get you to do things he wants you to do - which you might not want to do..."
"....." Asagi said nothing - but stared furiously at his lunch, hoping Ruiza wouldn't notice his pink ears.
"Tatsuya... left because of these things... so you know... just... be firm... and it will blow over. That is -" Ruiza's gaze rose and sharpened suddenly on Asagi's bent head as the man's chopsticks poked aimlessly at his white rice. "If... he... hasn't tried already... Has he... tried... Asagi-san..." Asagi jerked his hand away from Ruiza sharply. The touch of another man's skin against his - was almost unbearable. He hoped that the kindness and sharpness behind Ruiza's eyes was just that - but another part of him feared that this was yet another devil looking for any sign of weakness... "Asagi-san..." Ruiza's look changed to one of horror and pity. It turned Asagi's stomach - reminding him sharply once again of what he must look like. Even though he had showered for a good half an hour - that he had brushed his hair almost obsessively - Asagi wondered if there was something showing - something evident - some kind of transparent veil over him that would show him for what he truly was... A wanton thing with its thighs spread begging like a woman for more... Closing his eyes, breathing deeply through his nose, Asagi counted to three before meeting Ruiza's eyes again. "It was nothing," he said dismissively. A lie - but a resolute ending of a conversation he knew he could not afford to have. He rose and left the table. His food, untouched.

"No... but I'm not going to be pleased by the sight of you in lace for awhile either," Kisaki sighed - as though he were complaining about the rain or the bad conditions of country roads. Asagi bit his lip and reshuffled his papers. "Ah... yes... that is... a shame..."
"Huh. Such enthusiasm..." smirked Kisaki. The vocalist blushed red and bent his head a little further. "It's not like I..." The vocalist petered off in an inaudible grumble.
"What?" Kisaki leaned forward.
"It's nothing," Asagi responded quickly. "I think I got the problem now..."
"No. Tell me. I'm a fair man. And this is the studio." Asagi eyed the manager. "The studio is sacred, as it were," explained Kisaki carefully and slowly as if Asagi were a small child. "Anything goes here... for the most part. Unless you seriously misbehave... then later... in a better suited environment..." The bassist left the rest of the sentence unfinished. Remembering the dressing table, Asagi bit his lip. "So. What did you say? Something to complain about? A petty grievance." Asagi flushed and glared a little bit at his band mate. "I was just... I don't see how you can expect me to be enthusiastic about talking about something so personal as underwear!"
"What's so personal about underwear?" Kisaki blinked.
"It's just.... private..." whispered Asagi earnestly. "And you talk about me wearing them for as if I'm - I'm..."
"Well, you are." Kisaki leaned back with a laugh. "Whatever you think you are, you are. So if you think you are a whore because you are going to pose for me in pretty lacy things, then you are a whore. If you are more or less - that is up to you. But what I want is you in pretty lacy things. And so you shall be. Sooner than later. Tonight in fact." Just as Asagi was about to open his mouth in protest, Ruiza poked his head in. Kisaki gave Asagi a look which shut the vocalist's mouth. Ruiza blinked and felt his stomach drop into the pit of his stomach. So it's starting already... Damn... The blond sighed as he looked at Asagi. And he would have been so nice too... And now he's going to be ruined... again... The way he blushed the other day... he probably is going to enjoy it too... It was annoying. Ruiza suppressed a small flicker of envy (or was it anger?), and smiled. "Just wanted to know what you guys were up to tonight? We of the lower masses - Sin, Shion and I are gonna be hitting some karaoke place tonight!"
"I'd lo-" Asagi was cut off by Kisaki. "We're busy, Ruiza. Some stuff we have to... work out..." Kisaki gave both Asagi and Ruiza a look before returning to his pages. "Asagi, let's get this song ironed out before we leave this afternoon. Ruiza... you guys can finish up the practice and head out on your own." Ruiza opened his mouth to give a token protest - before he shut it sharply. So Asagi was fine with Kisaki? So be it. With that, the blond huffed and left - ignoring the muted pleading looks Asagi had sent him. Please Review!!!
