What Would You Say
Title: Alchemy, Part 5: What Would You Say
Author: ChemicalMuse
Pairing: Frank/Mikey, Frank/Gerard
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Frankie thinks about what's happened.
It's later in the afternoon. You don't know where Mikey is, you haven't seen him since the two of you left the venue. Separately. You can't help being worried about him, but you tell yourself there's plenty of other people around. It's not like he's going to go off by himself.
You can't forget the look on his face when you told him in a low voice that Gerard had seen. He'd gone white as a sheet, and for a minute you thought he'd faint.
"H-he saw?" His voice was trembling, unsteady, and he sounded about ten years old.
All you could do was nod. He'd stood up, helping you off the amp, steadying you until your weakened legs could hold you up. You'd both put your clothes back on, pretending not to look at each other. But you could feel Mikey's eyes on you.
And you watched him. Hungry for a glimpse of his body, not wanting him to have to cover up that pale perfection.
Before you'd left the venue, he'd kissed you again, his lips just as soft and sweet as the first kiss - was that really so short a time ago? - and murmured against your mouth.
"I love you, Frankie. Don't forget that."
He'd smiled at you, a shy, fleeting smile, and left. And all you could do was stare after him, gaping. You'd never expected to hear those words fall from Mikey's lips, never would've thought that he could feel that way about you.
You stood there a long time after he left, pressing your fingers against your lips and remembering how it had felt to kiss him. You could have stood there all night, thinking about what had happened between the two of you. Right here on this stage, only a few feet away.
You didn't want to think about what was going to happen. All you wanted to keep in your mind was the memory of Mikey touching you, kissing you, how he felt inside you. How he looked when he was with you, how his voice sounded. And the words. The last words he said before he walked out the door. He meant them. You knew he did.
It didn't hit you until you were leaving. And the knowledge almost made your heart stop and tears gather in your eyes.
He'd said the three words you'd always wanted to hear from him.
But you never said them back.
