With the new year coming up in less than an hour, Nathan and Mariah decided to celebrate it alone. They opted to have no company because it's been a while since they spent some time together. Besides, Nathan had a very special surprise in store for her when the clock hits midnight tonight.
The last seven months had been good for them. Mariah's divorce was running smoothly so she didn't have to worry about anything. She wasn't even bothered when she heard Tommy and Thalia announced their engagement a few weeks ago. That was fine with her. That young bitch was more than welcome to his brand of crap. She lived with it for four years and counting.
But, she had Nathan now. She loved him with all of her heart. He was everything she wanted and needed in a man. She couldn't quit him, even if she wanted to.
"Mimi, can you come up here for a moment?" she heard him call out.
"I'll be right there, handsome," she purred seductively. Wearing a short black satin robe, she was determined to give him a night he'll never forget.
She padded up the steps, wondering what Mr. Morris has pulled up on his sleeve this time. When she opened the door to their bedroom and stepped inside, she was in shock.
There were candles and red rose petals all over the room. She had tears in her eyes as she took her her surroundings. Nathan really went all out on this one, didn't he? He wanted to make this night really special.
"What did I do to deserve this?" she asked as she stepped inside.
"You captured my heart, Mimi. And we're celebrating," he said as he pulled her in his arms and kissed her sweetly.
"Our seven month anniversary or the new year?" she giggled.
"Both. But, before we can get down to business, I have something to tell you. And I don't want you to say anything until I'm finished, okay?"
"Okay," Mariah said before she plopped down on the bed.
Nathan kneeled down in front of her and took her hand into his. "Mariah Angela Cary, I love you with all of my heart. I loved you since the day we met almost five years ago. I wanted to do this right and with the new year coming up within a couple of minutes, I decided that you're the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with," Nathan said.
Mariah was shocked when he pulled out a small black velvet box. She was even more shocked when he opened it and displayed the most beautiful diamond engagement ring she'd ever seen in her life. He slid it on her finger and admired how sparkling it was.
"Mariah, will you make our union complete and be my wife? Baby, will you marry me?" he asked.
"Yes, Nate. I will marry you," she whispered without hesitation.
He leaned over and kissed her passionately. She wrapped her arms around his neck and responded with fever. Within seconds, they were laying on the bed, holding each other close. They could hear the New York crowd counting down to the new year, but they were too busy ringing in the new year themselves.
"Oh, God," she moaned when he removed her robe and engulfed her breasts in his hands. He was too busy sucking on her neck. She threw her head back and moaned his name when he moved on top of her. Their bodies fused together to make a perfect fit.
Nathan braced himself and began moving in and out of her body with ease. Mariah screamed and moaned his name as she wrapped her legs over his strong back. She dug her fingers in his back and bit down on his broad shoulder as he went deeper and harder inside of her.
Mariah looked over at the clock. It was midnight, all right. 1998 was gonna be great after all.

"We have a problem," Claudette said as she walked in.
"What's wrong?" Tommy asked, not taking his eyes away from his laptop.
"Mariah and Nathan are engaged," she announced.
"What the hell?!" Tommy screamed as he bolted up from his seat.
"I'm serious. Mariah confirmed the engagement on Oprah," she explained.
"I can't believe that bitch! Now I'm gonna have to change my plans!" Tommy screamed.
"You mean, you're not gonna use me after all?" Claudette asked, looking shocked.
"I don't think so. I think I'm just gonna go to the papers and tell them what kind of person Mariah Carey really is. By the time they get through with her ass, Nathan won't wanna marry her," he said, smiling evilly.
Claudette realized getting involved with him was a huge mistake.
I'm disregarding Mariah's romance with Derek Jeter and Luis Miguel. I'm also gonna be disregarding her so-called 'breakdown' and the 'Glitter' tragedy.
