Chapter 5

++++++++++

"Nice," Kelly smiled as Carrie closed the door behind them. She walked around, exploring Carrie's hotel room.

"Yea, it is pretty cool," Carrie agreed. "But that's not why we're here."

"Oh?" Kelly asked. "And what is?"

Carrie's eyes fell onto the king size bed against one of the walls.

"Carrie Underwood, are you propositioning me?" Kelly asked, trying to hold back her smile.

"What--I--You--nap--huh?" she stuttered, her face turning a bright red, causing Kelly to burst into a fit of giggles.

"You should have seen you're face," Kelly laughed, moving away quickly as Carrie tried to swat at her arm.

"You. Sleep. Now," Carrie said firmly, pointing to the bed.

"But I don't want to," Kelly pouted. "I'm wide awake now. See..." she opened her eyes wide for affect.

Carrie smiled at the girl's adorableness, "Kel, you need to sleep. The last thing you need is to get so worn out that you have a complete break down or something. Ok?"

She ushered Kelly to the bed and pulled the covers back. Kelly climbed in and smiled up at her innocently.

"What?" Carrie asked.

"You're worried about me," Kelly replied.

Carrie smiled, "Yea, I am. What are you gonna do about it?"

"Nothing. It feels good to have someone like that around," Kelly admitted, looking down at her lap.

Carrie frowned, scooting Kelly over as she climbed into the bed herself.

"It's ok," she replied. "I know exactly what you mean."

Kelly looked up at her, her eyes swimming with tears.

"No, no," Carrie said quickly, pulling her into a close hug. "You do not cry. I do not do well when people cry. Especially when they are as adorable as you."

Kelly felt herself smile slightly as they pulled away.

"That's better," Carrie nodded. "Now, you get some sleep. I'll just be right here, watching t.v."

"You'll be here when I get up?" Kelly asked.

"Of course. I mean if you want me to be."

Kelly nodded as she scooted down under the covers. Carrie tried not to laugh as she watched Kelly fall asleep before her head even hit the pillow, a small smile still playing on her pink lips.

Kelly woke up, snuggling up to something warm and soft. A faint scent that was deliciously sweet was surrounding her, and she refused to open her eyes, afraid that it would all disappear. Kelly felt her head rise and fall as the arms surrounding her tightened slightly. A smile played on her lips at the feeling of security that surrounded her. She hadn't felt this content in a long time and was dreading the moment it would be taken away from her like it always was.

"Mm, what time is it?" Carrie mumbled. Kelly smiled at the feeling of Carrie's chest rumbling beneath her as she talked. Her eyes opened, and she slowly began to remember where she was. She tilted her head up and smiled to find Carrie looking down at her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep," Carrie apologized, starting to sit up, but Kelly threw her arm around Carrie's stomach, holding her down, causing the blonde to giggle as Kelly snuggled into her the crook of her neck.

"It's ok," Kelly replied. "You're quite comfortable."

"Thanks, I think," Carrie smiled. She began to run a lazy hand up and down Kelly's back. "So you slept well?"

"Like a baby," she admitted. "I haven't slept that good in forever."

"Well, I'm glad I could help."

Kelly looked back up at Carrie and as their eyes met, the electricity in the room was undeniable. She wasn't sure why, but Kelly's heart sped up. The tension in the room was so thick, a chain saw couldn't even cut it.

Carrie found her eyes flickering back and forth between Kelly's eyes and lips. She couldn't help but stare into the hazel orbs that seemed to be holding the world--her world. Yet, at the same time, there was something about Kelly's lips that was so pink, and so soft, and so perfectly inviting that she couldn't look away. Carrie stopped herself, her hand freezing on Kelly's lower back. What the hell was going on with her?

"So, about that time," she laughed shakily.

"Oh, yea," Kelly replied, her voice just as nervous. "I probably should be going. I'm gonna need to get ready soon."

"Yea," Carrie nodded. "Me too."

"Ok."

"Ok."

Neither was moving. Both were afraid if the moved apart, the strange new connection that had formed would be lost forever. But if they moved a millimeter closer, their entire worlds could fall apart.

"She fu**** hates me!" Kelly's phone screamed, causing both of them to jump apart.

Carrie looked at her curiously as she handed Kelly her phone that was on the side table.

"Amelia," Kelly replied, causing both girls to burst into laughter.

"Fitting."

"I thought so."

Kelly sighed, silencing the phone, "I should go."

"Yea," Carrie nodded. "So I'll see you tonight?"

"Duh," Kelly smiled.

Carrie pushed her playfully as she climbed out the bed. Kelly hurried around the room, gathering her shoes and other various belongings.

She stopped at the door, asking "Does this feel like a one night stand to you?" before she walked out with a smile.

"Hunny, with me there is no such thing as a one night stand," Carrie replied with a smirk. She wasn't gonna let Kelly have the last word. "Cause they always come back for more!"
