Ville sat on the sidelines at the skate park with Roxy, smoking a cigarette and watching everyone skate. Well half-watching. He had a hard time concentrating. His dreams were getting progressively stranger and he woke up in the middle of the night more often than not looking over at Davey and expecting to see Bam lying in bed with him. It made him feel terrible. He loved Davey.

But as he sat under the clear and cloudless January sky with the sounds of wheels on pavement and kids cursing, he couldn't help but think about Bam. Everything was starting to remind him of the skater.

Davey, Frank and Jade had taken to going to the local skate park in the afternoons and Ville and Roxy would go to watch. He couldn't help but remember watching Bam all those times skating around a half pipe, doing tricks that would make him cringe, falling off the rails and landing hard on his face. Sometimes it hurt to watch the boys skate.

And then Frank would eat shit trying to drop in and he would laugh, forgetting about the bittersweet nostalgia washing through him.

"Frankie, why don't you get off that board before you hurt the pavement with your face?" Ville said as Frank had to bail out of another trick.

Roxy laughed, trying to smother it with her hand, "That's not nice Ville."

"Yeah Ville. That's not nice." Frank stuck his tongue out at him.

"Boys, please!" Jade road up and flipped his board into his hand, "Don't make us take you home." he frowned at them.

Ville flipped Jade off, but sat back and refused to be egged on by any of the faces Frank was making.

Discouraged by the lack of response, Frank flipped his board into his hand and sighed, "Well fine. I'm going home."

"Frankie?" Roxy asked quietly, "Did you decide about going to Venice with us?"

"No." Frank said shortly, throwing his board down and skating off.

Ville stared after him and sighed, "My love? Can I borrow your board?"

Davey looked at him with shock, "Do you know how to ride?"

Ville raised one perfectly arched eyebrow at his lover, "I hung out with Bam Margera for ten years. Do you really think I never picked it up?"

Davey blushed and handed his deck to Ville, "Sorry. I'll see you at home."

Ville kissed Davey quickly and murmured, "Bye love." before riding off.

He caught up to Frank and tackled him to the ground, "Frankie!" he shouted, wrestling him into submission by sitting on his chest in the middle of some one's lawn.

"What do you want?" Frank bared his fangs, giving up the struggle.

"I want to know what your problem is." Ville shifted so he was seated more comfortably.

"My problem is you are sitting on me." he glared, narrowing his hazel eyes.

Ville shook his head, "That's not what I'm talking about and you know it." he pulled Frank up, "I mean why won't you make a decision about Venice? Is it because you don't want to see this Bert guy?" he paused as a thought occurred to him, "Or is it because you don't want to be human again?"

Frank shook his head, "I don't know." he admitted quietly, sagging into Ville's chest.

"It's alright." Ville patted his back.

"But I don't want to be human again!" Frank's wail was muffled in Ville's shirt, "I like what I am. And I like you guys as you are." Ville could feel a hot wetness on his chest as Frank let a few tears escape, "Why do you have to be human anyway? What's wrong with living forever if you have people to do it with?"

"Nothing I guess, but we want to grow old, have kids, live life as it was intended." Ville said softly, "We never wanted to live forever." he gently started to lead Frank home.

"I didn't either." Frank sniffed, turning the corner of the street and looking up at the approach to their house, "I didn't ask for this, and then when I got turned, Bert said 'Fuck you buddy.' and left me all on my own."

"He sounds like a real wanker, but are you sure that's not the reason you don't want to go with us? Because you don't want to see Bert again?" Ville held the front door open for Frank and dropped Davey's skateboard just inside.

Frank shrugged, "That's part of it."

Ville led him into the living room where the other's were sitting, talking quietly. He gave him a brief hug before going to join Davey on the couch. Roxy and Jade were crammed into a big wingback chair.

Frank sighed and sat on the other end of the couch, "I don't want to go. I don't want to see Bert, and I don't even want to be human again. I don't want you too either." he said the last with his head low and tears of shame leaking from his eyes, "I don't even see why you would want to."

"Frankie, baby, I’m old. More than five hundred years." She shook her head before leaning it on Jade's shoulder, "I'm tired. I want to wake up in the mornings not knowing if it would be my last. I want the family I never had a chance to have. I want to get fat and wrinkled and senile," she kissed Jade's cheek, "And I want to do it with you guys."

"Besides Frankie, how are supposed to get new tattoos?" Davey asked, trying for levity.

They all laughed at that memory.

"Hold still man." The bald tattooist said with a growl, going over the same spot again and again trying to make the simple heart take.

Frank was near to howling in pain. His skin was healing so fast that it was like getting it tattooed through several layers of scar tissue. He gripped Roxy's hand, and ignored Ville's snickering, glad at least she hadn't said "I told you so." yet, "Just forget it man!" He cried suddenly, "seriously, I'm done!" Frank waited until Jason, the tattoo artist had taken the tattoo machine away from his skin and jumped up, running to the other side of the counter.

Jason shook his head, "I don't know why it wouldn't take. I've never had anyone's skin do that." his voice was full of wonder.

Frank shook his head, "Me either. See ya man." he bolted out the door followed by Ville and Roxy.

"I told you it wouldn't work dude." Ville said, slapping his arm. Not the one that had just been tattooed, that would have been mean.

Frank flipped him off.

"Well if you guys do it I'm going to have to." Frank sighed, "Living forever is bitchin, but it's no fun by yourself." he crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.

"You don't have to Frankie. We don't even expect you too." Roxy said, getting up and going to him, enfolding him in a motherly hug.

Ville reached over and grabbed one of his hands.

"You guys are all I've got. I'm not going to sit around and watch you grow old and die." Frank hugged Roxy with one arm and squeezed Ville's hand with his other.

"We'll go tomorrow okay?" Ville said quietly.

Frank shook his head, "No. We should go now."

"If you're sure?" Ville whispered.

Frank's body sagged, but he nodded. They were going to go see the man who had done everything conceivable to fuck up his life.

"Ville! Will you move your ass?" Frank yelled from the other side of the bathroom door, "We'd like to get down to Venice sometime this century!"

"Fuck off! I'm coming!" Ville yelled back and swiped the last line of eyeliner under his eyes and wrenched the door open, "Stop!"

Frank put his hands by his side like he hadn't been pounding on the door, "Are you ready?" he asked innocently.

Downstairs, Ville heard Jade snicker, "Very funny wanker!" he called down and grabbed Frank by the back of the neck, "Come on Jerk. You can sit in the back with me and Davey."

"No! You two are going to fight the whole way. And then I'm going to end up getting in the fight and get hurt, damnit!" Davey whined.

"So we put him in the trunk?" Roxy asked, rolling her eyes, "Shut up all of you."

Ville stuck his tongue out at her, "Yes Mom."

She smacked the back of his head, "Smart ass."

Jade looked around, "Why are you talking about someone else's ass?"

She sighed, "Can we leave now?"

"Of course honey." Jade kissed her lightly and headed out the front door.

Roxy poked Ville in the back, "Come on assholes." she ushered them out the door.
