The Bus

Trent was still standing by the table, just picking up his plate to resume eating. He noticed her coming into the bus and turned to face her as she finished the macaroni.

"Hey." She said as she stopped in front of him.

"Hey, who was that?" Trent asked.

"Matt, from uh, Alkaline Trio? He was just calling to chit chat about whatever." She shrugged. She looked down at his plate and really wished she hadn't had a hot dog. "Is that good?" She pointed at the potato salad.

He nodded. "Yeah, I'm pretty surprised with the quality of the food here. It's been kinda shitty since the first day."

"I know." Emma agreed.

"Do you want to taste it?" Trent offered.

Emma was curious, but felt weird about eating his food. "Could I?" She asked despite her previous thought.

"Yeah, here." He scooped a fork-full and held it up for her to eat.

Emma leaned in and ate the potato salad off of the fork, chewing with delight. "Aw dang that is good."

"You want the rest?" He held the plate out to her.

"Nono, it's your plate. I think I'm gonna play Kingdom Hearts or something anyway." She was mainly thinking of a way to not think about Trent's immensly sexy physiqe at the moment, PS2 games a good cure for that.

"Okay." He moved to let her go by.

She turned sideways to fit thru the walkway they were standing in to go by him, brushing against him a little as she did so.

"Sorry." She apologized outloud but cherished the touch of him inside.

"Sorry..." He apologized as well, moving into the bus more to get out of her way. He felt her arm graze his hand as she passed and tingled at the softness of her skin.

Emma was just about to sigh with nervous delight when her phone buzzed in her pocket again. She pulled it out and stopped where she was to see she had an e-mail.

Trent finished his plate and watched her checking her phone for something.

Emma's eyes were scanning back and forth as she read before she scoffed.

"What?" Trent asked as he tossed his plate and fork into the trash under the table, rubbing his stomach and sighing will fullness.

"Fucking, Drummer magazine want's me to do the cover this month." She shook her head and closed her phone. "Their the one's who were shit-talking my drumming back in Valley. Like, ahhhh I don't care fuck them." She waved her hands about and then headed back to the lounge room in the bus.
He remembered reading their comments about her previous band and her 'non-apparent' skills. Be it he knew what she did in that band wasn't complicated, but she wasn't going for complicated. That band's sad purpose was make a hit and make it snappy. Emma knew that and DID do that well, knowing that's what that band was.

He understood her anger.

Trent walked back and pushed open the door to see Emma sifting through all the games they had.

"You going to play Kingdom Hearts?" He asked as he entered and sat next to her on the couch.

"If I can find it yeah. I need to beat up Tarzan, he's fucking annoying." She said with mild malice in her voice.

Trent smiled at that sentence. "I bet he is."

Emma knew he could tell she was mad and sat back in the couch with a breath. She looked at him and made a sad face. "Why do we have to do interviews and talk to people?"

"Because the world is a horrible, horrible place." Trent answered her bleakly.

"Oh right." She nodded and rested her head back on the couch. "I forget sometimes."

Trent braved a hand over to her knee and gently squeezed. "Sorry."

She almost exclaimed aloud at his touch but choked her voice back down. She managed to cooly turn her head and smile at him. "It's okay."

The two sat for a moment and looked at one another.

Trent was the first to avert his gaze to the blank TV and speak. "Would you want to play Halo 2 instead?"

Emma frowned. "I suck at that game."

"I know." He grinned evilly at her.

"Ohhh, I see." She glared at him. "Fine. I'll just have to bust out the skills then." She grabbed the Xbox 360 box of games and fished for Halo 2.

Trent snickered at her determination. "Okay, you do that." He teased further.
