Chapter 6
~

Gackt sat on the edge of the bed, watching outside where the sun would be rising in an hour. He'd pushed the curtains apart and was watching the dark sky. Every once in a while, he would look back at Hyde, whom hadn't stirred in his sleep at all and was sleeping peacefully. Gackt was sure he'd be waking up every hour to throw up.

Now he was just sitting there, not thinking of anything, just watching the dark clouds move slowly in the sky. The sun would start to rise soon...He needed to head to his own room. He watched Hyde for a while longer, loving how calm he could look while sleeping. He leaned over and placed a small kiss on Hyde's forehead, whispering a quiet 'goodbye' and walking the kitchen and setting Hyde's keys on the table and writing him a short note. After he read over the note to check for any misspelled words, he walked to his room, silently shutting the door.

Hyde shielded his eyes from the bright rays of the morning sun. He tried to sit up, but only managed to fall back against his pillows and groan. All he could remember from the night before was going out to eat with Gackt and then...nothing. But the time he'd spent with Gackt was amazing and for almost no reason at all. He got to spend time with him, just enjoying his company and going on what felt like a date. He just wished Gackt had seen it that way.

Hyde slowly sat up; his head aching and his stomach making him feel like he could vomit at any moment. He sat on his bed, staring at his jeans and yawned. Suddenly, he felt very depressed. He just wanted to bury his face in his pillow and cry...And he didn't even know why. Well, there was no use in crying over nothing, especially it was literally nothing. He sighed and stood up, changing his shirt and pants and walking to the kitchen. His keys were on the table, along with a note from Gackt.

Hey,
You're a terrible drunk; had to carry you home.
Here's your key and sorry if you feel sick today.
-Gackt

Hyde laughed and shook his head. He sighed and threw the note in the trash. His head started spinning again and he was going to sit down to try to feel better, but before he knew it, he was rushing to the bathroom and vomiting into the toilet. He started shaking and had to keep telling himself he wasn't going to die. When he was done throwing up, he laid down on the cool floor of the bathroom breathing deeply and trying to calm down, finally convincing himself that he wasn't going to die.

When he felt okay to stand again, he turned the knob to fill the tub with steaming water and undressed, sitting in the tub and letting it fill up just enough before he turned the knob off and leaned back against the white wall of the tub.

He laid in the tub for what felt like an hour; laying comfortably in the warm water, eyes drooping shut and feeling as if he could sleep in the water for a quite a while. He got out, limbs feeling shaky, but the rest of him felt pretty fine aside from the aching in his head. This was enough to make him consider a vow of never drinking again, but vows as such weren't that practical.

After dressing again, he took a Tylenol and lay down on the couch watching some random daytime drama he'd never heard of, but found slightly interesting for the most part. From what he could tell-he'd missed the first half hour-two men were arguing over a girl, ended up getting into a fight in public and both getting arrested, only to find out the girl was a lesbian and had been playing them the whole time. Hyde found it funny that something like that would happen. He also thought it would be far better if they both decided the girl wasn't worth it and hooked up while they were stuck in the same jail cell, but of course that would only work in his little dream world.

The rest of the day carried on much like this; Hyde laying on the couch and watching whatever played on the TV and waiting for Gackt to wake up. When Gackt did wake up, Hyde's only clue was the sound of the shower turning on. He turned off the TV and hoped Gackt hadn’t gotten as drunken as he had; they needed a sane person in the house since Hyde felt like he was dying, but that was more of an exaggeration on his part.

Half an hour later, the bathroom door opened and from it Gackt emerged, wet and half naked with only a pair of pants and a towel hanging from his shoulders. When he entered the living room he gave Hyde a sympthetic smile since the other man obviously wasn't feeling his best.

"You wouldn't happen to have a shirt I could borrow, would you?"

"There's a bunch of shirts in my closet that are too big. Take 'em if you want."

"Thanks...You need anything? You look terrible."

Hyde covered his face with his hands and made a groaning noise, "I look like crap!"

Gackt laughed at the other man, "You just look sick. I'll be right back," he was still softly laughing at Hyde when he left to go find a shirt from the closet.

He pulled open the door that opened to the walk-in closet and hit the switch beside the door to turn on the overhead light that lit up the space. There were several shirts, pairs of pants and a few coats hanging from hooks and hangers. He grabbed a tight fitting black sweater and pulled it on, his eye catching a cardboard box on the floor beside some pairs of shoes. The sides were folded closed and it was held shut by duct tape.

He looked at it curiously until he picked up the sound and Hyde walking towards the room and closed the door gently.

"Did you find something?" Hyde asked when he came through the door.

"Yeah," Gackt nodded, "Does it look okay?"

Hyde smiled, "It looks great."

The other man laughed, "You're blushing."

Hyde covered his face and mumbled something that sounded like "Oh my God," and was obviously 'dying' of humiliation.

Gackt shook his head as he approached the smaller man, "It's cute," he said as he pulled the other's hands away from his red face, "Really, it is."

Hyde's face only grew more red as he looked into Gackt's eyes, his hands clasped in the other's. Soon, he was closing his eyes and leaning into a deep kiss that he never thought would happen. He could have melted in the moment if it hadn't ended so quickly.

Gackt suddenly ended the kiss and pushed Hyde away, "I'm sorry Hyde, but I can't do this. It's not you, it's me. I just can't do this," he looked away from Hyde's puzzled and hurt face, quickly leaving the room to return to his own, closing the door.

Hyde felt terribly cold. He walked towards his bed and fell onto it, pulling all the covers over him and wanting to hide from the world.

"What have I done?" At that moment, the only thing that hurt was Hyde's heart.

Sorry about the delay. The next chapter will hopefully come sooner. How does a flashback with Mana sound?
